Welcome to the California Desert group. Although this group is by invitation only, active Flickerites with quality images are welcome. *** PLEASE READ THE GROUP RULES *** Close-ups or landscapes are fine, but wildflowers or wildlife must be emphasized in the composition. No commenting requirements at this point, but please be generous in supporting other photographers' images. Please post a quick "Hello" in the "New Member Introductions" so we can all get better acquainted.

This group discussion is for members only.

Group Description

This group is devoted to the wildflowers and wildlife of our California deserts. It covers a large area of California's desert landscape, from our borders with Mexico and Arizona on the south and east, to the Mojave desert and edge of the Eastern Sierra on the north and Antelope Valley on the west. Among other locations, it includes Death Valley, Anza-Borrego State Park, Joshua Tree National Park, Red Rock Canyon State Park, Jawbone Canyon, Desert Tortoise Natural Area, Corn Springs / Chuckwalla Mountains, Providence Mountains and the Mojave National Preserve (see discussion area for more.) Also included is the area at the very southern end of the Owens Valley south of Lone Pine (Olancha, Keeler, Cerro Gordo, Haiwee, Fossil Falls) because of its desert -like climate.

The Spring obsession continues...

Group Rules

*****CALIFORNIA DESERT WILDFLOWERS AND WILDLIFE ONLY!!!*****

Please focus on wildflowers and wildlife ONLY. Close-ups or landscapes are fine, but the composition must emphasize flowers, birds, animals, fish, insects or other wildlife. No people!

You don't have to identify the flowers or wildlife, but if you can, please do. Also please note any location data you might have.

Please tag your photos "CalDesert".

Photos and short videos only.

No art, illustrations, CGI or heavily manipulated images.

HDR is okay, but please keep it realistic.

IMPORTANT! Because of scams involving people who sign up for Flickr with the intent of ripping off other artists' work AND the fact that this group involves more personal group interaction, meet-ups, etc., You must be an active member of Flickr to join.

You don't necessarily have to have a pro account, but you do need to have quality images posted, comments on your images, contacts (not just one-way), membership in other groups, and most importantly, profile information that tells us something about who you are and your interest in photography.

The CEO (Chief Ersatz Organizer) reserves the right to change these rules and to delete photos from the group that don't adhere to these guidelines or are of poor quality.

***Please be sure to comment generously on the posts of other contributors.***

Thank you.
