Group DescriptionSo what's Black and White Week (affectionately called BWW)???
OK so one day a few months ago I was feeling lackluster and out of ideas for new photos. Then, as if from nowhere, I was struck with an idea: only take black and white photos... for an entire week. This doesn't mean use your computer to change all your photos to black and white, it means set your camera to bw mode!
Hm ok, going back to the basics, that's interesting, but that's not all. I then created a list of 4 rules and they are as follows:
1. All photos must be black and white.
2. Out of all the photos from the week, only two can be edited beyond levels and contrast.
3. Camera must be in manual mode.
4. Pictures can be cropped.
Now if you want to be a part of this group you don't have to follow all 4 rules, the only one that is required is the first. However, I'd suggest you follow all 4 if you want to get the most out of your black and white week.
Right away you'll find yourself looking more for patterns, light/shadow contrasts, and shapes rather than pretty colors. Colorful background distractions virtually disappear and your focus is easily chosen.
It's true, people have been shooting in black and white forever, but few people realize it's power unless they force themselves to use only that for at least 7 days straight.
Try it, you'll enjoy it. I promise. :D
Group RulesPlease only post photos that are black and white as that is the whole point of the group. That is the only real rule.
