Reinhard Beuthien created the character Lilli in 1952 for the German newspaper Bild-Zeitung. In 1953, Max Weissbrodt used Beuthien's drawings to design the prototype of the doll, sold across Germany and the rest of Europe from 1955 to 1964 until Mattel acquired the rights and stopped production. Lilli was sold in two sizes: 12" and 7.5".
Please, post photos and illustrations of Lilli, her ponytail-clad, hard-plastic Hong Kong clones (not Barbie clones), and new OOAK dolls inspired by Lilli. Also welcome are vintage and reproduction Lilli playsets, illustrations, and fashions, along with scans of original Lilli cartoons.
Any photos not fitting the theme or not office/family-friendly may be removed by the group's curator without notice.
