This picture is the start of my love for digital manipulations. Before I used to use Paint Shop Pro, but now it's all Photoshop.

My brother introduced me to Flickr after his friend (who works for Yahoo) told him about it. He convinced me to use it to store my pictures. Initially I thought, "oh.. just another photo hosting site," but now I'm completely hooked. For once, I'm able to share my pictures with people who thoroughly and sincerely enjoy them :)

More of a family photo than anything else, but nonetheless the first photo I uploaded to Flickr.

Me and Max

I've been aware of Flickr for too long to remember how we were first introduced. We may have hooked up randomly in some bar, or maybe it was the news that Yahoo had bought it, or maybe because my wife uses it to post pictures of baby carriers.

More importantly maybe why I started using it. As you can tell by the first photo, I was looking for good hosting and a way to get photos into FaceBook, MySpace and my Blog without too much effort. I quickly realized that there is so much more going here. So 1pro membership, 2 collections, 7 sets, and 174 photos later, here I am posting too much text in a forum!

I don't remember how I heard about Flickr. I was itching to get back into photography and had my eye on a good digital camera. Up to that point all I had were some point and shoots and an old digital camera that took a minute to warm up. I found the site and posted my first pictures hoping to learn and get some feedback. I got that and then some. The best part has been the online friendships that have occured because of our shared love of this hobby.

I believe this was the first photo I uploaded to my now defunct "ruralimages" account.

I found flickr via a link from my yahoo mail page. I love photography and figured I'd use it as just a photo host site until I joined groups, viewed other photos and I was hooked!

I'm learning new stuff every day from this place!

I got my first digital camera in August, about a week before leaving for a trip to Germany. I wanted to practice with it for a bit before I went, so I took some shots at Valley Forge Park one day.

I wanted to be able to share my photos with family and friends during my trip, and I was pretty clueless about how to do that. I found Flickr after asking for advice from an e-mail list I'm on (not related to photography).

This was the first photo I added to flickr. Found out about the site through www.b3ta.com and after having a play around, decided I liked the idea and the way the site worked. Didn't really start adding more photos for a while, and even then it was just a place to store photos that could easily be shared with friends. Only recently have I started actually using it to show my photos to others on flickr itself.

-- from ChristineVP - (?)

This was my first attempt at doing something artistic with photos. It was taken at Lithia Park in Ashland, Oregon with a Fuji 35mm camera. I didn't even have a digital camera back then. I found flickr by happen stance back in 2005. I wanted a place to post pics for my children who live far away; now I am trying to learn to be a better photographer. I even got a new camera for Christmas. :-)

Capitola Morning 1

This is the first pic I posted on flickr, first shoot with a new "real" camera. Of course, I should go back and fix the horizon (which I still have trouble with, if I'm not paying attention), but I feel a little nostalgic about this first set of pics and want to leave it just as it was.

My son introduced me to flickr -- he told me to get off of picturetrail or the other photo storage places I was on. I tried it, and was instantly hooked. I've made good friends and learned so much about photography here.
