Group DescriptionWelcome to the Around The World in 80 Faiths Flickr group! This group was created to accompany the BBC TV series of the same name. The series was broadcast in the UK between in January and February 2009 on BBC TWO.
The BBC set up this group to encourage users to share images of religious rituals from around the world.
As the series has ended, the BBC is no longer moderating this group.
Thank you very much for all the amazing photos you have contributed to the group. We hope you continue to enjoy each other's pictures of religious rituals.
About the series
Part-time Anglican Vicar, Peter Owen Jones embarks on an epic challenge – to travel the globe and observe and take part in the most important rituals of 80 of the world's faiths.
On the way he'll be exploring some of the planet's most beautiful and holy places: he'll be meeting snake handlers, Voodoo practitioners, whirling dervishes, horse-riding Sikhs, Shaman and Taoist monks seeking immortality.
He will also be participating in some truly remarkable events, including an Aborigine baby-smoking ceremony, exorcisms, a séance, a Christian healing, Muslim Prayer, a Hindu cremation and Zoroastrian wedding.
We have started the group off by including some of the photos that were taken by the production team during their filming.

When the group was created, one of the rules was that by submitting a photo to the group you automatically give permission to the BBC to show your photos on bbc.co.uk/80faiths. Even though the series has ended, a feed of images from this group is still available on the series website: www.bbc.co.uk/80faiths
If you’re not happy with this then there are all sorts of other great Flickr groups that would be more than happy to display your photos without this restriction.
