Alive

Not sure if anyone cared or noticed. But I am still alive. Not much shooting last year having taken my first PAYG job and adjusting to all the corporate nonsense. I do have about 10 rolls that need developing though.

How is everyone else? Anyone doing anything cool recently? Beers and burgers soon?

Looks like you're very much alive -- this posted twice! Want to remove the other one? Not much to tell you from me. Had an okay year here. Got paid several times to make portraits, was lucky to sneak one from 2012 into the Head On Portrait Prize this past May & there was a bit more notice which is always nice. Started a website that is always in a state of disarray. Also sold a few older large scale (older work) prints from my US gallerist. My personal work is at an interesting phase of planning & perhaps a bit of procrastinating to start fresh in 2014... saves me having to make any other sort of New Year's Resolution.

This group has grown a bit more quiet (as many flickr groups have since the redesign it seems). For those paying attention, you might have seen that Mike Keevers has graciously decided to assist the other curators with the posting queue. Thanks Mike!

And thanks Richard for starting this thread -- I hope others will chime in with their news. Wishing all our members & those they hold dear: a wonderful close to the year, a silly season full of good cheer.

Must admit the new flickr design has completely turned me off - the platform has died. But I still look in on here once a week to see what people are up to and see the pics that have been uploaded.

so if people arent on flickr so much where are they?

I share pics now on tumblr. If there any other tumblr users out there let me know so that I can follow your work.

Oh, I finally found the place where I could delete the extra post... sheesh -- I knew it was somewhere, but... the FAQ & various other "help" places were zilch assistance. User-friendliness has pretty much gone out the window in flickrville.

I'm nervous about when they actually roll out the spankin' new photo-page with gobs of text in the sidebar -- truly hate the look of that in beta version.

I do know that many virtual friends & contacts have migrated their photo feeds to facebook & a few to google+ or yeah, tumblr or even um that iPhone app thingie one (I need more coffee -- sorry the name escapes me).

I'd decided until there's a clear winner of a place I'd be totally happy with -- I'll peek in, but not commit -- do a little here, but mostly concentrate on not doing online networking -- it's just too much of a time-sink with little actual reward -- time I'd prefer putting into real-life & my own work. I know -- I'm a semi-luddite & I think I'm okay with that. That said, I do continue to LOOK & Richard's tumblr site is well worth the price of admission!

Same as Rich, the new design has turned me off. I probably come on once a fortnight now at best. I'm spending more time now on facebook than here now.

Thanks for touching base with us.

I visit probably a once every one to two months to tend another group pool.
Otherwise I keep track of my contacts' uploads through Flipboard on the iPad.
I'm still making pictures, though not really sharing them anywhere.

Ello all, I'm still alive. I still come on Flickr every day despite my dislike of the new format, Flickr feeds my blog www.camperdownstrangler.tumblr.com which i've been running for years, so I'm on here sourcing images for the queue (even if no one is looking at it)

Not really sharing much here at the moment as I'm focusing on shooting projects (mostly in film) and populating my website which I hope to launch in the next couple weeks. As well as working on an exhibition later in 2014 and cobbling together work for zines I intend to publish this year.

For the most part I'm only sharing my own photography on Instagram but I'm intending to share more via my website's blog once it's up and running, I feel like that's probably the least diluted way for people to see my work and what i've been up to.

Still alive and kicking here, too. In fact, I just returned from a 3-week Xmas trip to Sydney. Now back in Tokyo.

Same as others, I don't visit Flickr as frequently as before because this format is just so ever slightly less usable and friendly than previous designs. I even have to think a bit just to figure out where is the link to people's profiles. I say, f**k that.

By the way, for any of you film shooters out there, film is apparently making a roaring comeback to Sydney. I could not believe how many shops now stock film stuff. And on 457 King St, Newtown, you will see the biggest film/analogue shop in all of Sydney! I could not believe my eyes when I walked in there.

@findingtheview- I haven't been to "smile please" on king st in a while, I did see that he moved again, is he now selling more than just vintage cameras?

He has vintage cameras, film, 8mm videocams, projectors, old prints, books and all manner of vintage analogue paraphernalia. He also sells film rolls, of course.

He must have gained a bit more space, I remember when he was located down the street inside Newtown Old Wares he had a desk about 2x1m. I'll have to pay him a visit.

Ipernity was going to be the next big thing when Flickr changed everything for the worse. But it's dead there too.

So 5 weeks off now. Got film going back a year in the fridge. Gonna develop, shoot more and upload. Shot so little since getting the shinny fast thing from Germany with 4 rings on it.....

I'm still shooting a lot, and not investing much time here now. Facebook is probably where I interact most with photographers, and tumblr is where I tend to post photos.

Think I'll sign up to tumblr. Been looking at where people hang out. 500px is too photoshoppy for me. Instagram is all wrong... I just need a place that is simple to post to and I can follow. Without all this "group" crap... I follow people - not categories...
