Pictures in the style of the New Topographics from Australia & New Zealand. WOW! Thanks folks great work; over 1k of images! Keep 'em coming
Group DescriptionThis group's focus is on the New Topographic movement's style using Australian & New Zealand subject matter. It follows on in the tradition of the New Topographic exhibition in 1976.
The impact of this exhibition still resonates today. How many Australian Photographers are working in this style? I want this group to form part of a repository of pictures that uses images from Australia, that explore the ideas of industrial development and decay, urbanisation and suburbanisation.
A description from the NPR website
These new "topographic" photographers (such as Robert Adams, no relation to Ansel) were less concerned with portraying an ideal image of nature and were more interested in showing plainly how man has altered it. Their photos were descriptive, unemotional and simple — a fusion, almost, of traditional landscape and social documentary photography, with man as the focus, but out of the picture.
