Bug: Mouse right click does not work.

Hi

I am having a consistent bug in Lightroom 3.2 - 64bit under windows 7.

I know of two other people experiencing the same bug.

After about 40-50mins my right click functionality dies. I have to restart LR to get it back. Can anyone shed some light on this and is there a fix?

Thank you

I don't expect this reply to be useful.

I also experience this on XP64 and have done in the last 3 versions of lightroom. I also know two others on XP32 experiencing the same thing. Restarting LR is the only way I have found to fix it for an hour or so. Any help would be appreciated. Right Click still works outside of LR.

@bodyshotz

can you list what you have below to see if there is anything in common between all of us with the issue.

LR Ver: 3.2
OS: Win 7
32or64bit: 64
Mouse brand: Logitech
tablet?: Yes but had the same issue before tablet
Graphics Card:Nvidia
Dual monitors: Yes

I'm left wondering also if it's a plugin causing the issue?

I'm having exactly the same problem.

I've just upgraded to LR 3.3 RC1 and there's no doubt this issue takes longer to happen... but it happens. Usually about an hour after I begin editing.

Setup:

LR 3.2 and now 3.3 (64-bit)
OS: Win 7 64-bit
Mouse - Logitech (same problem with a Microsoft mouse)
Graphics - ATI

Not using any plugins, only presets.

VERY annoying bug.

Can we add whether you are using dual monitors to the list.

I'll amend my post above to add it to the list..

I have the same problem, it appears totally random. Sometimes I can go hours with no issues, other times no more than 15 minutes. Restarting lightroom fixes it, if temporarily.

Are there any plugins that you can access via right-click? If so, disable or remove them one-at-a-time to see if that fixes it. It sounds like one is hanging and not responding when the right-click menu code calls it. If each plugin runs as a separate process, you might be able to see in Task Manager if one has crashed.

I have exactly the same problem. After a while the mouse right-click does not work. After restarting LR the problem is solved ... for a while.
I am using LR 3.2.

I took a look into the relase notes of LR 3.3 ... but there's no notice about this "feature".

Does anyone experiencing the issue have Mogrify and/or ImageMagick installed?

Specifically i have preset export options in my right click menu relating to this plugin. Thanks to Aardvarksrule for the suggestion :)

Same problem, exactly as described above plus It also applies a random preset and ctrl+z does not work.
File ->Exit does not work.
Restarting "fixes" the problem.

@oivosloxias What Input languages and keyboard are you using? Is your Keyboard a standard US or a Foreign Language Kbd? Do you have multiple languages installed with windows?
The reason I ask this is the {LEFT ALT}{Shft} Switches keyboards and the Hot Key Combination supercedes any hotkey combination in LR or any other active program. If If you press this key combination (before you press the {Cntl} ot any other key, you switch keyboards and strange things can happen when you press a key or mouse button.

When this happens in LR, have you noticed if right click is non functional in the Windows desktop as well? I ran across the same issue at one point with a similar configuration as yours, and debugged the hell out of it - using different mice, keyboard shortcuts, etc.

In the end the culprit was a password protected flash drive attached to my machine. Not just any drive, but that specific one. No idea why this should have mattered, but it did.

Do you have any external devices connected? I'd recommend disconnecting them for the moment, just to rule out that possibility.

I have had this problem through all versions of Lightroom and always had a Logitech mouse, I had tried various drivers and no driver installed and the right click always stopped working. Two months ago I changed my mouse to a Microsoft Arc one and the problem has disappeared.

I've now got a new machine - same OS (Win 7 - 64-bit) new keyboard, new Mouse (MS) the whole shabang... I'm still getting this problem.

Seems to be after about 20 - m30 minutes, the right mouse button ceases to work. One of the most annoying issues I have with an Adobe product.

In answer to one of the questions: Yes I have Mogrify, but the problem was there before it was installed.

Go figure :^/

And so, does your right mouse click work in other applications, but not in LR? How about when you use another mouse? Is this MS mouse wireless or wired? Do you have a wired mouse to compare with?

Was anyone able to find a solution for this problem? I am having the same issue for a month now, and it annoys the hell out of me. It's not the mouse, I use a logitech cordless mouse, and I tried with other corded and cordless mice, and the problem remains. Only a restart of LR fixes the problem until next time it comes back.

Right click works fine in other windows applications. The problem is with LR only.

My setup:
Windows 7 Professional 64 bit
Intel i7-930 with 12GB RAM
LIghtroom 3.4 64 bit

Any help will be greatly appreciated. Thanks.

I've experienced this problem off and on with Lightroom since the pre-release. Suddenly I now experience the problem every 10-15 minutes working in Lightroom. I had an extremely large catalog (1.5GB) so I thought maybe that was the problem. I pulled everything out of the catalog except the current year and now I'm down to 200MB, but the problem remains.

I am using multiple monitors (4 on the system), Lightroom 3.4.1 64-bit on Windows 7 64-bit. 6GB RAM. USB mouse, Genius tablet. Lenovo W700DS with tablet as well.

Sometimes the problem seems to happen after some extended paging to the disk, when the hard disk is lit solid for a while and I can't do anything in Lightroom. I threw a 1TB secondary hard disk in the system and my lightroom catalog was on that volume. The drive is slow and I have been noticing sluggish operations in Lightroom. I'm going to move my catalog to the primary flash drive and see if things get any better.
