Received the following email from Sailing Today. Anyone have a suitable photo?

Hi Norman,

If one of your members can send us in the next 2 days a nice high resolution picture of an Achilles 24 under sail, their boat is highly likely to appear in Sailing Today. It has been voted by our readers the 4th favourite cruising yacht and we need a photo for the article announcing the results.

Perhaps you can post this message on the Flickr group?

Please send any pics to jake.frith@sailingtoday.co.uk

Many thanks

Jake

Why not suggest to Jake that he looks through the site himself and picks out one? He could then contact the owner (of the picture) and ask for permission to use it.

Will Garnier may also have a suitable picture, and that would be of an A24 that has done a double Atlantic crossing.

I have emailed Jake and given him the links to the groups' photostream and to this discussion.
I will leave it to individuals to send Jake their photos. Make sure you have the copyright.

Megabyte is one million bytes, one byte is one pixel so resolution needs to be 1000x1000 at least. Doesn't mean your photos are no good just not the quality for magazine publishing. Your pic of Goskar which is fantastic is only 375 X 500 ( 0.1875mbytes) at best on Flickr. The original on your camera may be better than this.

But the resolution will depend on his camera and what was done to it to upload to Flickr. Flickr used to fiddle with resolution when storage was a bit less available, or whoever uploaded may have cut the resolution to save upload time if broadband speed was an issue.

They should have a shed load of photos that they took of Snoopy when they used her as part of an article in issue 29 in September 1999. But I guess they used a Box Brownie for the pics and left the negatives at the Chemist's.

Just come back from WH Smith....

Bob Mercer's lovely shot of Moondog was used; the Achilles 24 came 4th equal, with the HR 29. Beaten by a Twister, and the Contessa 32 came top.

Couldn't see the Hustler 25 in the list.... (tongue firmly in cheek, Ron & Neil....)
