What's under your seat cushions?

Underneath my seat cushions I have 12mm ply which has been used to cover the entire seat base including storage lockers. as you can imagine this is heavy and awkward to move when I want to access the under seat storage.

Is this a common approach or do owners have properly shaped lids to the under seat storage lockers?

Thanks

My seat cushions have a ply base that the upholstery is stapled to. Except the chart table seat which has a shaped ply inset. But there is a lip that suggests it was designed to have inserts. Red <Marlin was finished by Chris

Red, there is a cushion with a wood base that fits in the foot well below the chart table that turns it into a full length pilot berth.
