Was getting Chiron ready for the annual "Dark & Stormy Regatta," which ironically was cancelled as it was too dark and stormy. 11+ft swell from the north and 40 knot gusts all from the north, guess what direction we'd have been going..........plus it was cold, down to 15C at times, which is cold for the caribbean.
I towed her up from Tortola's West End to a marina in Road Town 2 days prior to the start, the 11 knot tow cleaned the bottom nicely!
That night the wind built and some sod in a bareboat must have got blown down on top of her and twisted the pulpit to port. Of course it was a hit and run and even though my wife is the Office Manager for that charter company, we couldn't get any to confess.
So, I had a fabricator come in to estimate the repair and he reckoned around $175US, thankyou very much.
A shame, but these things happen.........at least it wasn't any worse.
Would love to furnish the site with photos, but the camera has gone AWOL for the time being.
