New winches!

Feeling slightly pale this morning, as we bought some new winches at the boat show yesterday - Harken 16s, self tailing, single speed.

The old Gibbs winches are getting very stiff, don't self tail, the handles dig in your back....

This is a question for Ron I guess, because I know you have recently changed Chilli's winches; to get the old ones off, do you need to take them apart, or is it only necessary to undo the nuts on the bolts from inside the boat?

And I think yours are Harken 16s; please reassure me that they will fit on the "platform" they sit on?

Chilles are Bariet not Harken .You will have to take the winch apart to access the head of the screws , We had to drill two new holes and use new screws.
