Drag to set position!

Robert W. Thomson ADMIN February 10, 2009
Post your photos of coal trains, whether it's a unit coal train, a mine run, or a mine-owned switcher shunting hoppers at a tipple! Try to avoid roster shots of locomotives or coal hoppers.

I've had some questions from a couple members: Coke trains are perfectly acceptable to the group, because coke is a by-product of bituminous coal. No other ore (taconite, copper, etc) trains are accepted in the group, though.

Group Description

Coal Drags! is a group for posting photos of coal trains. Whether coming out of the mines of Kentucky and West Virginia or out of the Powder River Basin, post your photos of coal trains. Photos that do not show coal hoppers MUST include in the description that the train in the photo is a coal train and list the location the photo was taken!

Photos only, no videos! Thanks!

Group Rules

Photos of coal trains only. Trains can be loads or empties. Unit trains or mine runs preferred, but any train with a significant number of coal hoppers is welcome. If your photo does not include coal hoppers in the shot you MUST include in your description mention that it is a coal train and where the shot was taken. Photos that do not follow the rules will be removed. Photos of mine-owned locomotives welcomed, as long as it is not a roster shot.
