The purpose of this topic is to share pix of stuff that should be in this group if only the posters were members... :)

//edit//

I changed the subject since we have the option now to ask people if they would like to add their picture to the group, and there are so many trainwrecks on other sites along with Flickr.

On the HGTV show "Haulin' House" tonight, we got to see a couple move this house 40 miles to a new location. They had to cut trees, move power lines and traffic lights, and brave the long journey without tipping. Obviously they had to disconnect all the plumbing and electrical and such to do this. And what's the only thing I notice?

They left the icicle lights up.

Filthy WalMart

I hate big corporations for many things, but I do have to say that the times I have been in a Walmart here in Washington or Oregon they have always been incredibly clean and well stocked, kinda remind me of Disneyland for the consumer. Curious about other people's reactions here.

Just... amazing. Thanks for the link!

Saw a Walmart ad the other day on teevee that didn't seem like a Walmart ad because it spoke about employee benefits and health plans and other great stuff so you thought it was for an insurance company or a state program... and then at the very end a guy in a blue blazer materializes and up comes the logo. Had to be the most amazing bit of spin I've seen in awhile since Wally's is constantly in the news for not giving people a living wage or enough weekly hours to qualify for benefits.

Every Wally's in WA and OR I've been in (as Wild said) has been clean and bright, and the employees not too disgruntled, but the exceptions exist elsewhere according to the newspaper articles.

Girly Girl Bags

Got that damn straight...

-----

OH YOU GUYS. A few months ago I used to belong to a message board over at www.icompact.com. These girls? I swear they are exactly like most of the women Mal takes photos of. They love uggs, expensive purses, probably wear high heels 24/7 because they look cute, pile on too much make up etc etc. I collect makeup, I like makeup, so I joined. BADIDEAJEANS. I tried my best to be nice to these women, but they ignored me, shot my suggestions down, didn't like my style, and and the reason why I left?

One of the girls were orgasming about how her mall finally has an H&M, and she added something along the lines of:

"and for you plus size girls? They have size 18's!"

I'm sorry, but I don't consider 18 a plus size, I consider anything past a 20 plus size. I admit, I did get bitchy and I said that there are plus sizes past 18 and that was one of my final posts there. I think I was the only plus size girl on that board.

Anita: You go, girl! Glad to hear you snapped on those snobs. A few years ago I was looking at some ad for a clothing store that spoke of being for the plus-size woman (could have been Lane Bryant) and the models were definitely not size 2 but yet not what I'd consider 'big'. The woman next to me, who was 5'9" and about 225 pounds, looked at the ad and said "nice that they want to 'represent' but, uh, none of the models in that ad are bigger than a 12." Despite your affinity for makeup, that wasn't your crowd -- you lack the teacup chihuahua in your handbag. :)

Last time I recall seeing a backpack purse -- it was hanging under the backpack, and they kinda matched as they were both black, of a girl I knew from the BBS's circa 1997... a plus-size by your definition at age 15. But wait, do those stuffed animal purses with the backpack straps count? The 1990's didn't get into stuffed animals.

[Thanks for the SNL reference. heheeheh!]

I noticed that LB has slightly gotten better at this. The women are now size 18's .... the second or third smallest size they sell at LB.

Other than that plus size comment, the real clincher with me leaving as those girls were talking about Vera Bradley purses (you know, those quilted purses rich mommies and their blond daughters have?). I made a crack that out in the boonies where I live Food Lion sells knock offs, and if you want a real Vera Bradley you have to go to the snotty store downtown. This one girl got her Victoria's Secret panties all in a bind and said that ..... lolololololol "people who have Vera Bradley purses are not snotty!"

Uhhh...I was talking about this specific store out in the boondocks, honey. I replied back with a "hostile much?" and I said that I was leaving the board and that was it.

I noticed a size increase too -- or rather, a move from Emme (a 16, says Wikipedia, but she looks rather average-American-size) to Camryn Mannheim (can't find the size online but pretty sure she's fuller).

Ha ha, the irony of "people who have Vera Bradley purses are not snotty *sniff*". QED. Food Lion knockoff Bradley purses = Target knockoff American Girl dolls. Those who get them, don't get it.

I forgot to mention that several of these women drove BMW's and gave Dells and MacBooks as presents to siblings as though they were giving Tonka and Barbie as presents. It was nothing for them to flop down I dunno $1500 for a present. Maybe the poor student in me notices that.

As a computer tech I sneer at such "generous" giftings... it's a great gesture but much of the time it's just giving a generic machine to someone with needs not necessarily matched by the computer's capacity, or giving their old machine (yaay, personal information!) after they upgrade to something they have no clue how to use but it's new! and popular! so they had to have it.

The poor geek in me notices that, because I'm one of those people who gets the call from the giver when they get a new machine -- and the receiver, who wants their freshly used machine to be *functional* (and sometimes in ways that hardware can't do).
