I know she's a busy woman, with work and taking pictures and uploading (heck, last time we heard, she had 160 emails in her Flickr box, heh!), but is she aware of this group?

I'm scared she'll think I'm stalking her. *blushes*

Depends on which way you want it to go:
- if you think she'd be amused, then I think we should drum up a few more members before actually telling her. That's what I was thinking. Especially since she gets a lot of flak for her observations, it would be a counterbalance to see she inspires people to go hunting for the daily vile.

- if you think she'd not be very happy with it, umm, tell her now before too many people join. Or something.

Your thoughts?

I think she'd be flattered as hell. I also think dropping invites to the folks who most often post to her stream would drum up the business.

Yes, invite her, by all means. What's the purpose of a fan club if you don't know it exists? :) You're many many miles away, she can't accuse you of stalking her. Trying to be like her, maybe... :) :) Just say "I can't do California so I'm giving the European perspective of the same faux pas!" :)

Ok, I made you admin so you can invite people more easily. I already invited all my relevant contacts but I'd like a few more people to join before I tell our "guru" about the group... I'm a perfectionist that way.

And apparently, M. wants to move to my house so I musn't blow my chances. And I'll skip the innuendo that is possible based on Milo.

Yeah, you don't wanna make any innuendos regarding Milo... people get twitchy when you express lust for their cat. I know that one from personal experience. :)

Thanks for the admin! I'll see what I can do.

Yeah, let's get some more members in here before telling her.

I've been canvassing a bit, feel free to write a message to anyone you think may want to join. Check who's a member already though, don't want to seem like a religious cult ;-)

It is sort of a cult... of personality. :)

I wish there was a "people who have commented on so and so's photos" function to make it easier to invite fans.... ;-)

What is up with the self-proclaimed goody-two shoes of late?

I've been encountering this quite a bit lately. DirtyRatBastard and I have been discussing this, he's received some crap too. Malingering has had a couple swipes made at her too in the last week, but as you know she can hold her own pretty well. :) Every time someone does that to my pix, or I see them do it to someone (because you know it'll roll toward someone else next and I tend to be in the crosshairs), I promptly block them so they won't be able to infect the photos -- only the discussions. :)

* Some people get hissy about the concept of taking pictures of people without their knowledge. But as long as it's in public, it's legal.
* Some people get hissy about the concept of making snide or lustful comments about people's pictures in a forum, especially of the aforementioned strangers. I like to believe that people think those exact same things, or worse, when browsing or in real life but refrain from saying or writing them where anyone else can hear... thus they're no better than anyone else, and a bit more timid.
* And then there are the rabble-rousers. Some people just wanna raise others' dander... they're trolls, whether they started with a valid complaint or not, since a discussion about artistic merit (for instance, since that's 'big' on Flickr) should not contain statements about someone's parentage or questions about one's mental capacities.

One thing I've been doing is when I see someone attack for the above reasons, I have a look at their stream. Are they contributing anything better than we are? Some people only have photos of themselves, not always clothed, yet get nasty on people for taking pictures of others, usually clothed. Some have zero photos, so they haven't much lattitude to judge. I've even seen one person who had similar material to mine, just missing descriptions/captions so that person must feel like I "pass judgement" and he does not. Then I point out what they're projecting, since they have a concept of what I/others are projecting and have issues with it. If they get too off-topic in their discussion posts, I wander away. :)

Hey, I put "unauthorized fan club" with a link in your Testamonials, but the link seems to have been filtered out. I tried, sister...

And now that we know the answer, this thread is locked. :)
