good can not be defined ,no bad can not be defined either, morals do not come from any where morals are just what people belive others should act. the meaning of life is to die and furtilize the earth,
and you`re car keys are in the ignition.

How the frick do I get this girl to like me?

Why are we on Earth?

Why does life exist?

Why won't this friggen girl like me?

What is the meaning of life?

Why won't this girl like me?

You get the point?
worker201 Posted 10 years ago. Edited by worker201 (member) 10 years ago
If you keep telling yourself that the girl does like you, then you'll gradually become so self-confident that she really will like you. But by then you won't like her. So yer screwed.
HenkDeVries 10 years ago
geez what a filosophics here =P

But serious now I do have a question about the contest:
Does a maintainance bay/ refuel bay also count as a tanker?
admin
dkromp 10 years ago
no because the bay is not the space tanker.
HenkDeVries 10 years ago
I don't get it. What if it's a flying bay *hint hint* would that be allowed?
admin
dkromp 10 years ago
okay but that is pushin it a little if the bay can refuel a ship then of course.

Why can't people on the Internet spell and punctuate correctly?
worker201 Posted 10 years ago. Edited by worker201 (member) 10 years ago
I certainly hope you're not referring to the convention of capitalizing 'internet', because that's one prescriptive rule I refuse to follow.

You might also notice that in the above sentence, the comma sits outside the quote pairs. Pretty much every style manual ever written despises that, but I don't care. I think it makes sense, because the quotes turn the word into a discrete object which is replacing the word. Since one would never insert a comma into the middle of a word, it would follow that one should never insert a comma into the middle of a word-object. Yes? Okay.
shaky shelf [deleted] 10 years ago
Well, Firefox's spell checker told me 'internet' was wrong, so I was just blindly following. :P

Is technology bringing us towards a brighter future? or is it all just blinding us from a simple answer?
worker201 10 years ago
Technology doesn't solve our problems, it replaces our old problems with brand new problems. If the destiny of man is infinite misery, then I'd say that technology certainly is progress. Just not the kind of progress we dream about when we say "brighter future".

Happy MLK day!
gambort PRO 10 years ago
^ Disagree to some degree. Technology has lifted the life quality of many people and made much of the world better off. It does, however, reach a point of minimal or null return if it's not distributed well.
cheerful books [deleted] 10 years ago
Gambort is right, although technology can bring about bad stuff inadvertently. And not wars, I'm talking (for example) about the scare in 1999, when everyone thought that all the computers would crash. Although it never happened, it would be a perfect example.
worker201 10 years ago
I'm currently reading a book about revenge and rearranging effects of technology. Example - improvements in trauma medicine made it possible to send Vietnam soldiers back into battle after days, not months, which had an influence on the psychological problems of excess 'trigger time'. Another example - people who used typewriters regularly never complained of carpal tunnel syndrome; in fact, there wasn't even such a set of symptoms until soft-touch keyboards and mice became popular. Old problems solved, new ones take their place. Of course it's not as bleak as infinite misery, but the idea of a futurist utopian nirvana-on-earth is unreasonable.

Where's my car!
cheerful books [deleted] 10 years ago
Worker201: Yup, that's technology for you!
Creme-de-la-creme: Laugh on line ( A nice play on the old laugh out loud, don't you think)
нawк 10 years ago
I don't think it's technology that matters. It's the use of technology. It has potential for both good and ill, what matters is not the tool, but the hand that uses it.
worker201 10 years ago
Starting to get pretty metaphysical here, but if you have something that has the potential for good or evil, and you only ever use it for evil, then what becomes of its potential for good? Could we not, for simplicity's sake, say it is basically 100% evil?

(Purely hypothetical question!!!!)
