As those of you who have followed discussions in Flickr Ideas will know, I am a staunch believer that no group should have one admin alone. Since admins are human (though some try to disguise that fact) there is always the possibility that the one and only admin may be absent, ill or even die, leaving the group leaderless at least for a period (death is of course absolute - nobody has yet come back to haunt Flickr).
With this in mind I am asking for volunteers, preferably with some knowledge of the UN and especially of the MDGs, to be promoted. It's not a specially onerous task but involves keeping an eye on the group to ensure that postings of pictures or discussion threads keep within the declared objectives of the group.
So in true army fashion I am asking "Are there any volunteers?"
I should like to remind members of this appeal for help. In the time since I first opened this discussion my health has deteriorated and now, at the age of 81, I have been diagnosed as suffering from cancer of the bone marrow which is being treated with chemotherapy. I should like to know that there is someone willing to make sure of the continuity of the group should I become unable to do so. It is not specially onerous - the main need is to ensure that there are no irrelevant or off-topic postings to the discussions or photo-pool.
After I posted the above appeal for help I found myself, for the whole of 2009, unable to work on Flickr. More recently the treatment has given me more strength and I have been able to work in Flickr again BUT there is talk of new treatment which may well render me unable to work on this and other groups again. So I am renewing my appeal for help.
