Your photo must be of a place where a letter clearly *used to be*, but is no more. You may include some letters in context if necessary (e.g. show a couple surrounding letters for a space where a letter fell off a marquee). It's also ok if some tiny bits of the letter remain, as long as the vast majority is gone. We have settled for at least 80% gone.

I don't intend or hope to use this for the current alphabet, but the caption still makes me giggle.

...and we are awaiting a missing D now...

When we get there, do you think my ghost H will count?
H is for wHere?

mag3737 PRO 10 years ago
(your caption on that photo is mistaken, btw.)

is it a spot where there used to be an H but now it's gone and there's just this vestige (perhaps leftover from collected dirt behind the H, or perhaps sun-un-faded, or something like that)? if so, i would say it totally counts.

Great missing H, mkr!

whew. i was beginning to think everybody had a D!

would this count for the E?

S (ex-E)

I guess it's not so much missing as modified.
Eva the Weaver PRO 10 years ago
That's tricky. Those events are just beautiful as images - but I have avoided including them in my alphabet set of the missing and decayed. They're problematic in an alphabet because the replacement letter is so visually dominant. What say others?

cute's E is way more convincing!

Yes, that one is very much a missing E.

i concur with all of the above remarks. i have a lovely missing-neon-G that is way too cluttered up with a too-real "background G":
G

(but don't cry for me...if i am here when G comes around, i have another lovely missing G as well. :-)
Eva the Weaver PRO 10 years ago
OK, where's that G?
admin
mag3737 PRO 10 years ago
yay! here it is, one of my favoritest of my missing letters collection. it is (or was) from the "GMC" logo on a pickup truck.

well I missed my H and I also missed this C, but here it is for your delectation anyway:

it seems as if we are on a break, but i am sure a Q will turn up missing sooner or later.
Eva the Weaver PRO 10 years ago
Someone might take a cue from my alphabet of missing letters, where the Q is the only self-made letter - simply a sheet of sticker letters, showing the spot where the Q has been peeled off. Would be allowable I think, when we're as stuck as we are now. And could probably be done so as to look more missing than mine does.

Q - sticker used up
cutesmallfuzzy 10 years ago
Or does anyone else have a missing P (besides me and Eva)? If so, Eva could take down the P that's now in the pool, the other P could go up, and then Eva's Q.
admin
mag3737 PRO 10 years ago
i have a P, but 1) it's just like my A from this alphabet and 2) i like eva's P. would rather wait for someone else to solve the problem (or me, if i find a Q, or maybe a different P).
Eva the Weaver PRO 10 years ago
Should be easy for someone to use the same idea as me for a missing Q.
Eva the Weaver PRO 10 years ago
Designwallah posted this nicely missing S (which I'm removing, for now).

S
Eva the Weaver PRO 10 years ago
Am tempted to let the missing Q go missing - and someone continues with the R - skipping to S was TOO much.
cutesmallfuzzy 10 years ago
Rather than do that, I'd like to see Mag post his P and you post your Q.
admin
mag3737 PRO 10 years ago
one part of me agrees with CSF that i wouldn't want to skip just one letter...but another part of me thinks that would make the mosaic for this alphabet delightfully self-referential, which is always a nice bonus.

i'll just toss my P up there on the board to provide maximum options for proceeding:

1. delete one of the Ps and keep waiting for Q (status quo)
2. delete one of the Ps, skip Q, and someone posts an R
3. delete eva's P, and she posts her Q.
designwallah PRO 10 years ago
Sorry about that S!
Eva the Weaver PRO Posted 10 years ago. Edited by Eva the Weaver (member) 10 years ago
Third option executed (tho I'm glad you appreciated my selfref idea, Tom!)

Rr.

And don't be sorry about the S, stay alert - an R will be there much faster than the Q, I suspect.

I hope this is missing enough...

here's an extremely-missing S.

Tt?
Eva the Weaver PRO 10 years ago
OK, my sample T, then.

Uu
Monceau PRO 10 years ago
Is this U missing enough? If not, I'll leave it in the hands of the administrator to delete it. I have another U that definitely fits, but it's like one I posted earlier. I think we need diversity, not expediency.
designwallah PRO Posted 10 years ago. Edited by designwallah (member) 10 years ago
Not enough V missing here, is there?
V
admin
mag3737 PRO 10 years ago
no, not enough V missing. i'm actually not sure about monceau's U either. i think it's more "faded" than "missing", and too hard to say what's "faded enough". i'm going to remove the U for now, and wait for something better. i agree diversity beats expediency.
