The current theme is YELLOW & PURPLE backgrounds: we are looking for letters with alternating coloured backgrounds. First an A on a yellow background, then a B on purple, C on yellow, and so on.

Leo has started us off with an A on yellow. Who has a B on purple?
Monceau PRO 11 years ago
I was starting to despair alphabet, but, thanks to a short memory, I was delighted to find a suitable B in my collection.

Next up: yellow background.

And just where did this idea come from ?

well, i asked for some colour, and urbanmkr said okay and made some suggestions, and then made me choose it...so we're both to blame...

(one day later) was purple a mistake?
Leo Reynolds PRO 11 years ago
Yeah, let's go back to the bricks :))
Monceau PRO 11 years ago
Let's let it go for a while. If it proves to be too difficult, we can alter it. Example: yellow background, purple letters or vice versa.

i have a D on purple. if no one comes up with one soon, i'll remove my C (guessing that someone else will likely have one).
Claudecf PRO 11 years ago
I have a C on yellow...
admin
mag3737 PRO 11 years ago
i removed my C.
Claudecf PRO 11 years ago
Added my C, now for D on purple

mag3737 PRO 11 years ago
done. E on yellow?
Claudecf PRO 11 years ago
Ff on purple now

mag3737 PRO 11 years ago
i don't have an F, but i think we can get through this one all right. we just have to be conservative with our yellows if we're "holding" purples. e.g., leo, i would recommend you NOT post a G on yellow...
Claudecf PRO 11 years ago
I don't think I even have a letter on purple! I wonder why!

It's a rare colour for signs, always been a difficult colour anyway, I think there's even a book on the subject. Now tell me, is this background purple enough for you?

F is for formal...

urbanmkr 11 years ago
I just checked my entire set of letters, and I don't have ANY with purple backgrounds, except that F if you count it. I have a J that is itself purple:
J

mag3737 PRO 11 years ago
i'd accept that F. i suspect we'll need to be somewhat liberal in our definition of purple. that's a cool J...or is it a T? are we gonna do graffiti sometime?
Claudecf PRO 11 years ago
We're going to be in trouble with the purple background so yes, let's be liberal!;)
admin
urbanmkr 11 years ago
It's definitely a J. We did a mixed graffiti/handwritten one already (www.flickr.com/photos/mag3737/368077711/ ) but we could try a 'pure' graffiti one. Extravagant colourful graffiti, perhaps.

mag3737 PRO 11 years ago
aww, leo, you missed my hint above. you have a spectacular H on purple in your collection.
admin
mag3737 PRO 11 years ago
there we go. Hh (leo)?
Claudecf PRO 11 years ago
Doh! I had a g on yellow! You were faster than me!
Claudecf PRO 11 years ago
J on purple!
Leo Reynolds PRO 11 years ago
K on yellow
Claudecf PRO 11 years ago
hope the purple background of my L is purple enough? Otherwise, I'll remove it.

it works for me.
Claudecf PRO 11 years ago
Then we need an M on yellow!
Claudecf PRO 11 years ago
P on purple
Monceau PRO 11 years ago
Q on yellow. Please say the reddish purple, a.k.a. is purple enough. (But, I ask myself, what is purple enough? Purple by its nature covers from lavender to royal purple...) Now, for that Q...
admin
mag3737 PRO 11 years ago
we're being pretty flexible on "purple". i'm not sure if this P is really on purple, though. i think i would say it's on yellow.

mag3737 PRO 11 years ago
seems like we're on the home stretch. i was gonna say, if we get REALLY stuck on some purple letter, we could use this as a wildcard. ;-)
?
Claudecf PRO 11 years ago
Rr on purple

mag3737 PRO 11 years ago
Ss on yellow...
Claudecf PRO 11 years ago
Tt on purple
admin
urbanmkr 11 years ago
Wow, this is coming on well. I like your purple wildcard, mag.
Claudecf PRO 11 years ago
We don't need it yet, Monceau has T on purple :)
admin
mag3737 PRO 11 years ago
we've stretched "purple" in the red direction, now i'm stretching it the other way. but with cobwebs + reflection i couldn't resist.

Uu on yellow?
Monceau PRO 11 years ago
Nicer than my T on purple, mag3737. But I don't have any worthy U's!
Monceau PRO 11 years ago
A bit busy, but yellow background...

mag3737 PRO 11 years ago
...and a day of silence. i have a v, but it's a bit lame and also just like my d. i'm holding out hope that somebody will do better. somebody? anybody?
Claudecf PRO 11 years ago
I too have a lame V that is on some sort of bluish purple thing but I have a nice ww on yellow ;)
admin
mag3737 PRO 11 years ago
all right, that's two days. there's my V. bring on the W!
Claudecf PRO 11 years ago
X on purple please
admin
urbanmkr 11 years ago
don't forget the wild card! :-)
admin
mag3737 PRO 11 years ago
ha. i actually don't have a purple X, but at least it is the weekend, so maybe i'll have time for broader exploration...
admin
mag3737 PRO 11 years ago
ok, there's an X. who has a Y?
duncan PRO 11 years ago
it's a pity you can't add a photo to the same group twice
Y
admin
urbanmkr 11 years ago
I finally realized I had a yellow-background Y just waiting to be trimmed. Here we go. Purple Z, and then what? Edible letters?
admin
mag3737 PRO 11 years ago
et voilà! now that wasn't SO bad, was it? although it seems vancouver is the only city out there with a good supply of purple letters... ;-)
Claudecf PRO 11 years ago
Yeah! Do edible letters while I am away ;) I don't have a single one!
I'm going tomorrow!
admin
mag3737 PRO 11 years ago
take pictures of edible letters while you're gone. i have a feeling this one will take a while.
Claudecf PRO 11 years ago
Well, except for pasta alphabet letters, I just can't imagine anything being both edible and a letter ;)
admin
mag3737 PRO 11 years ago
birthday cakes, of course! happy birthday, mr. mxyzptlk!

urbanmkr 11 years ago
Vancouver hippies love purple!!!! :-)
I think we can stretch edible letters to being found/interpreted and also created. Shouldn't be too hard to make an H out of a slice of brown bread, for instance. Or an I out of an apple core or a carrot. Or a Z out of a line of raisins.
