As you know, there's a link at the top of the home page of every Flickr Group, called 'map', and so far as I was aware, all geotagged photos in the group should appear there. Except that they don't. All my river photos are geotagged, and I can't find any of them on that map. I'm sure I'm missing something blindingly obvious here - 235 photos do appear, but out of a total of 856 that's not many.

So, if your photo does come up on that map, can you please let us know how to do it? It would be great if all these rivers' locations were immediately obvious from that map, wouldn't it?

I'm afraid I cannot shed any light on this strange phenomenon of geotagged photos not appearing on the pool map, apart from noting that there is discussion of the problem in 'Help', which suggests it is not just this pool. It is a pity, because mapping is a particularly useful tool for this pool.

The photos I've just posted have come up on the map (Castle Acre, Norfolk), geotagged from my photostream as I added them. A few were taken in the same location but only the latest addition shows when I click the pink dot. If I select an older photo from the same location a 'sun' appears round the dot.
Probably not a lot of help!

The new map backend and it's interface have a number of ongoing issues, which hopefully will get sorted eventually.

However, allybeag, I just checked a few of your shots, and they don't seem to be geotagged. At least When I look at your River Caldew shots for example, in the "additional Information" section, I don't see the "Taken in Carlisle ... " text I would expect if geotagged within flickr.

There's a privacy setting under "your account" which determines who can see where you took a photo, so if you did geotag the shots, maybe this is restricting them?

Aha! You're right, Skink - thanks! I've changed the setting to 'anyone' now. I wasn't aware of that one (though I guess I must have set it when I first signed up, but I'd forgotten all about it!) However, I still can't see my photos on the map. Maybe it just takes a little while to work?

Well, I've left it overnight but they still don't show up on the map, although my geotags are now viewable to others. (I have a separate Flickr account for our morris dance side, Belfagan, so I signed in using that identity, and I can see my geotags fine.) Oh well, I really should get some work done and stop messing about with Flickr . . . ;-)

Weird, I still can't see any location info on your pics...

Hmm... well, it says "who can see where your photos were taken - anyone", but I notice this is only for "new uploads". I can't find a way to change this setting on photos that are already up there. I guess the reason my Belfagan persona could see them is because Belfagan is listed as 'family' in my contacts list. It must be possible to change that setting globally, surely?

If you go to the organizr and select all your photos (or all the ones you want people to see anyway) and drag them into the main area, you can then click Location > change geoprivacy. Which looks like it ought to be what you're after.

Brill! That sounds just like what I need to do. That'll be my job for this evening then.

OK, I've changed the permissions on geoprivacy, and now some of my photos have appeared on the map, though the only ones I can find so far are the 3 recent ones taken in Carlisle. I've got about 50 more, and I can't see them on the map yet.
