Is there some way of setting up a list of the rivers we've got so far in this group, with links to all the photos of each river? I'm sure there should be some Flickr tool to do this sort of thing - I've a feeling I've seen something like it on the Birds of the World Field Guide actually.

Interesting idea. I will certainly try to add and update a list of the rivers (now standing at about 105). Ii will have to investigate whether it would be possible to incorporate links; it may be technically possible but too time consuming.

I've just added the Axe (Somerset) and the Bela (Lancs/Cumbria). Also the Windrush but I see someone was there before me!

Thanks for the invite!

Many thanks for your support of the River Names of Britain pool, and for adding two new names. No single photograph is sufficient to show a river from its source to its end and through the seasons, so a second Windrush is most welcome. The pool is expanding rapidly, so it is proving impossible to keep the list up-to-date, but I hope to revise it again tomorrow.

Wider World: you might consider the idea that people open a thread for a river and people can post a small version of their shots of it. Something like they do for sunsets in the "Sunsets & Sunrises around the world" group.

That's a good idea, Werewegian. As well as making the group more interesting, it also means that it'll be more obvious when a new photo comes up of a river that we're personally interested in.

Great idea, Werewegian. I will play around with this, and probably set up a couple to set the ball rolling.

Just added the River Bure and the upper River Yare (The Section near the confluence with the Wensum) in Norfolk.

Wider World: Nice work, but please replace "Loon" with "Lune". As far as I know there is no River Loon, though perhaps there ought to be.

Thanks Andrew. I have corrected the list above. This was a first stab at collating the rivers in the pool, later replaced by the pool index. I am relying on pool members to proof-read the index for me, and send me a message when corrections are required.

well worth a look and you might like to visit
www.rossendaleonline.co.uk/
which has loads of river related photos as the river powered the Industrial Revolution.

Thanks Wadey. I agree about the Irwell pool. I have been watching its massive growth with astonishment - clearly it's a pool that was needed.
