I dont know of any in this area, but I know there are some in other areas ha. How abandoned do you need them? There is some track just south of the YMCA in Superior that doesnt seem to get used any more and just has flat rail cars lined up at places. But a really good place is in Ashland, WI

West Duluth has some.

Oh yes ashland is the perfect spot!!! Right down on the lakefront close to the marina, over in front of where the old paper plant use to be and going south of where the tracks use to come in for the coal. Where in west duluth are good?

Like overgrown, out of use. Make for a nice rustic picture with a person in it.

Drive out on Grand, after you drive under the 35W overpass you will see tracks on your left with an abandoned train behind Jackson's Auto parts.
I looked around the train and it appears to be property of Jackson's. there are pad locks on the doors and it looks like they use the cars for storage.
Go at your own risk although, it isn't posted.

Well im not looking to trespass and if the doors are padlocked im not sure i could open them with a camera LOL Just looking for a good spot either with a model or just self pose myself. Ill prob go to ashland and look for some abandoned areas.

There are abandoned tracks in Allouez. They are along the Osaugie Trail. I would need to drive out there and write down the name of the road where you can park, because I can't for the life of me remember what it is right now. I took these there though:

This is the bridge near the tracks. The parking area is just past this bridge. www.flickr.com/photos/amotherssoul/3687148934/ You have to drive down an alley looking road to get to the parking area.

Sorry that this isn't more helpful!

Edited for one more. This bridge is right at the abandoned tracks. If you can find this bridge you are there. The tracks are up to the right of this and there is even a little trail that goes from here to the tracks. www.flickr.com/photos/amotherssoul/3692676955/

It is all very helpful and thank you all for your input.
Can always look on mapquest and see if you can spot the road, they have the satellite view.
That is the perfect area !!!! :)

allouez is east superior.

"Well im not looking to trespass ..."

generally... if you are on train tracks that are not your personal property... you are trespassing... so... slice it any way that you like in order to justify the photo...

You need to read what i said above ok? LOOKING FOR ABANDONED TRACKS!!!

Pretty sure most abandoned tracks would still be owned by some railroad. As long as you keep out of the railroad switching yards where they might have guards I wouldn’t worry to much.

The line to Ashland, WI is abandoned. There are no more trains en route to the coal dock no more, nor to the old paper plant that closed down. They are also tearing down the old ore dock that is in ashland.

Even without tracks the RR Right Of Way is still viable for trespassing. Do they care? Will they know? If a mirror slaps in a forest and nobody is around to hear it... blah blah blah...

One from the other day, taken on the tracks across the street from Duluth’s playfront Park, it was mid morning and the sun was harsh.
Rule #3 keep your eye out for moving trains :)

I think rule #3 is a good one :P Actually with the sun being harsh i like how it turned out. Gives it a rustic look.

This is an out-take from a shoot, but I think this is what you're looking for. Abandoned overgrown railroad tracks. Above W Michigan street at a graffiti tunnel... You probably already found this or another place.
