If you have treated yourself to some holiday or post holiday goodies, post em here.

I ordered the following Last Week:

Lowepro COMPU TREKKER All Weather camera backpack
Vivtar 285hv flash
One wireless Transmitter and two receivers for off camera flash
Carbon Fiber Tripod Legs
2 - 7 foot light stands, 2 - swivel flash mount umbrella holders and
2 - 32" reflector or shoot through umbrellas.

I am on the hunt for a Nikon Speedlight now.

Holy Crap that is allot of stuff, It will be like Christmas all over again waiting for the packages in the mail.
I actually got a good deal on all of it, it pays to hunt some times.

i bought a sigma 30mm f/1.4 right before christmas and ordered a new Lowepro Nova 4 bag earlier this week. My sister gave me tripod money for a gift and am on the hunt for a good deal.

I'm kinda waiting for the buyer of my 10d body to get her moneys together so I can meet them.

Otherwise i'm on the lookout for mk3 jetta fenders and a door so i can get my car back together after being hit while parked twice during December.

i got my sigma 15-30 in the mail yesterday and holy crap it is huge! a little bigger/heavier than i expected, but oh well...i'm not complaining. i'll post some pics with/of it soon, as i have just about 200 pics and no pro account yet.

now, all i want to buy is a new tripod, cs3, and a ps3. but that's not too much $, only about 1k lol

dub...how's the 30mm?

i used it pretty much for all my christmas stuff and a ton at the wedding i was at last weekend. Much more usable for people than the 50 for that stuff. pretty sharp at 2 or 2.2 i thought.

Sigmas are heavy. i know.

I bought a Pentax 50mm/1.4 before christmas and love it. f1.4+iso800 makes for nice indoor shots.

I want the 10-20 sigma but don't know what path to walk (canon, nikon or pentax) This isn't an invite to help me in that department.

I have heard the V2s version works good, but the V1 had mis firing issues.
If you can afford it go for the pocket wizards or skyports.
Alien Bees offers a wireless setup as well

I am just learning so i can't justify purchasing $200+ PW's

I am not made of money in the slightest. Quite the opposite actually. However, I am trying to get a photography business off of the ground so my camera expenses lately have been an investment for me that will hopefully bring me a return eventually. If I wasn't planning on starting a business then there is no way I would be spending what I am on equipment.

I'm with jnovek. I tend to be a little tight because this is strictly a hobby for me (until someone wants to pay me), but katzmark06 is right, buying crap is tiresome.

I also hate buying stuff that gets used once and sits in a box.

i dont have much of a problem spending more than my car on photography...

its a passion and my life. my roommates think i'm crazy and ask why i have more than one camera... (they dont get it)

that being said. i'm soon going to treat myself to another infrared conversion (sold my first (self done d70) for christmas presents}... and maybe an ultra-wide 12-24... and eventhough i have perfectly capable tripod stuff, i think i wanna go with arca-swiss style plates...
by the way... anybody know who stole my 60mm macro? anybody have a shady friend that 'out of nowhere' picked one up... mine is VERY distinguishable...

i'm also an art student so these are basically school supplies to me.... like my roommates $300 chem books... or my other roommates $200 bio-lab equipment

ams..."If I wasn't planning on starting a business then there is no way I would be spending what I am on equipment." i like to say the same thing, but my only justification for just buying the 15-30 was that i wanted it lol...

oh katzmark...did you ever get that wii? there was one in the tribune classified ads this last weekend...probably a bit late, if you can even find the paper haha but just thought i'd mention it

peace

yo. i also got a sweet camcorder style strap for my d80 today, a belated prestent so i'm not treating myself, but i thought i'd share. i need the extra support for that 15-30 beast

Yesterday I bought:

Sigma 24mm 2.8
Skylight filter
Sony F36 Flash
Cactus wireless flash transmitter thing
2 rolls b&w, 3 rolls color for my new Pentax

The flash was for my mom but I get to use it until she can make it up here to pick it up. It's pretty fun : )

25mm Lens with focus locks. Massive depth of field even at wide apertures, so I can jack up the shutter probably all the way to 1000 in sunny conditions and not need to worry much about focusing. Doubt that I'll be able to work faster with anything else I own.

And some love for Beards McGee

Whatever they have at First Photo, Regular 400 ISO B&W

The color is Kodak ISO 400 from Target. If someone could process these for me when the time comes, I do work for one of the pizza franchises in Duluth and Superior ; )

I'm game. Is the B&W film an Ilford film? Probably HP5+. I think FP also carries Tri-X and Ilford XP2 (which isn't a true B&W) in ISO 400.

I should toss you a roll of expired Provia to try your hand at shooting for cross processing.

Yeah it's the HP5+. I plan on doing the B&W myself. I feel color is more difficult?
ages ago (permalink)

view photostream

Hambone Lewinski is a group administrator Hambone Lewinski says:

The process is a bit trickier, but not much. The hardest part is maintaining the correct temp; color chemicals need to be kept as close to 102 degrees as possible to avoid color shifts (unless you want color shifts; might be good with your Lomo stuff). I achieve this by floating the bottles in hot water until I'm ready.

My first C-41 kit was this one:
www.freestylephoto.biz/sc_prod.php?cat_id=1001&pid=10...
You can also get film on the cheap at freestyle or B&H.

It's not super hard, but you should be sure that you're comfortable with B&W process first.

Anyway, let me know if you want me to develop any rolls for you.

Oh, i have picked up some things here and there, but I really want to get some "Poverty Wizards"! I only have one 580ex right now, so the basic set up should do me. It will be very nice to get that flash off of my camera!

And I splurged yesterday and spent 15 dollars to make my remote switch a little bit longer. It comes with a 3 foot cord, which does not help for self portraits. But with a simple mod, I can make it any length I want by plugging in any stereo 1/8 male to female cord. Right now i only have a 20 foot m/f cable, but i guess there is no need for a 10 footer.
