If You See That Tag On Someone's Photo
Do not critique that photo. Skip it and continue to critique five not counting that one. You will not be obliged to score it later. That photog has forfeited the right to get scored by you.

If You Get That Tag On Your Photo
Immediately write the five critiques that you were supposed to write before you submitted your photo. Then contact the person who put it there, and an active admin, by flickrmail, advise them you have critiqued, and include a link to your photo. They will check and if appropriate, will remove the DNR. If you remove the DNR comment without rating, you can expect to be banned. Understand your right to get scored by the photogs that submitted while you were DNR is forever forfeit.

Other Guidelines. Also see THE RULES

- Explain how you arrived at your score.
- Most photographers appreciate knowing how you arrived at your score, what you like and don't like about their photo, what they could do better, and how to do it.

- Thoughtfully and carefully critiquing other people's photographs is one of the best ways to improve your own photography.

- It is easier to be objective with other people's photographs then your own. The people who submit their photos to this group to allow you to critique them are giving you a gift.

- Treat the photos you critique as if you have been given a gift, since you have.

- Begin any critique by mentioning at least one thing what you like about the image.

- Make your critique constructive. Make it specific. Utilize positive language. Be encouraging.

- Avoid prejudice. You may not like every subject or style. Retain objectivity. Judge the photo on it's merits, not just your personal preferences or preconceptions.

- Adjust your comments to the obvious level of photography somebody is at when descernable.
Be aware that most people are amateur photographers and hobbiests.

Base your rating on composition, concept and creativity, as well as anything else you find important to the quality of a landscape image. Personal appeal is also important, of course, but should not be the only guide for your rating.

Ultimately, you should get 5 ratings. Add those together to get your total score which is out of 50.

If you have any thoughts, comments or ideas for the group, please feel free to start a new discussion thread.

This group is a milieu to provide you with feedback on your landscape photos from other photographers interested in the same genre. :-)

Landscapes comprise the visible features of an area of land, vegetation, human elements, including land use, buildings and structures, and transitory elements such as lighting and weather conditions.

Landscapes, combining their physical origins with the cultural overlay of human presence, reflect the living synthesis of people and place. Their character and quality help define the self image of a region--its sense of place that differentiates it from other regions. It is the dynamic backdrop to people’s lives.

Group Rules

IF YOU DO NOT UNDERSTAND ENGLISH: ... STOP! HALT! VERBOTEN! NEIN!
This group requires active participation and full knowledge of the rules. If you do not understand English and the below rules, get a translation before joining.

The highest priority of any rating group is to rate. So there is no misunderstanding or possibility of error, you are to rate BEFORE you submit your photo. You are to use the Official Rating Code from this group. Any comment you leave without it is yours, but not ours.

The next highest priority of any rating group is to identify and correct or remove non-scorers and their photos. Despite every warning and rule you see here, many people will submit without rating. You are not to tolerate or enable these persons.

Those cited for rules infractions are to comply with Rule 4 without delay, complaint or excuse.

Pre-Rule 1. Examine the first six photos for any flood photos (same photographer.) If found, do not score those photos. Skip them and proceed as if they were not there.

1. Rate the first six** photos in the pool on a scale of 1 to 100 utilizing the Official Group Rating Code*** prominently displayed on the front page; and preferably comment on them in accordance with the Comment Guidelines; then submit a photo to get rated.

2. Allow six* photos to post before you add another photo to the pool.

3. Drop and Run (Non-raters)
When you observe a photographer that did not rate, or if someone who was supposed to rate your photo didn't; place the following code as a comment on that person's photo. Add any relevant text you desire.

<a href="https://www.flickr.com/groups/ratemylandscape"><img src="https://farm8.staticflickr.com/7029/6519893433_d97ff6c8d0_o.png" width="160" height="131" alt="flickr Rate My Landscape Icon dnr" /></a>

If You See That Tag On Someone's Photo

Do not rate or critique that photo. Skip it and continue to critique five not counting that one.

If You Get That Tag On Your Photo
Immediately make the ratings and critiques that you were supposed to do before you submitted your photo. Then contact the person who put it there, and an active admin, by flickrmail, advise them you have rated, and include a link to your photo. They will check and if your critiques are satisfactory, they will remove the comment or clear you to remove it. If you remove the comment without critiquing, you can expect to be banned.

You may also report non-raters in the [Official] Rules Violation thread or via mail to staff. If you rate non-rater photos, rate one additional photo for each one you rate. If you don't bother to check for non-raters, rate at least six photos, as there is almost always at least one non-rater for every five submissions.

4. Rules violations may incur a citation comment on your photograph. For each unintentional or inadvertent violation, score ten photos as restitution in the [Official]Missing Rating Thread (MRT), but in no case less than twenty photos. When done, advise the citing staff member via flickrmail who will verify the ratings, and if satisfactory, will provide written clearance to submit again. Persons who are banned may get the ban removed by rating ten photos in addition to the five per violation. Intentional non-raters: 15 rates per violation. Rule 3 violations don't require restitution, just rate the extra photos in the pool as required to make five rated.

5. Familiarize yourself with the front page information and any important threads marked [Official] in the Discussion Forum.

6. Do not block any other members. If you have a problem with a member, work it out. If desired, request active staff assistance. They will endeavor to help. If you are blocked, notify active staff. Blocking a mod or admin will likely get you banned instantly.

7. Do not remove any comment, and do not remove you photo, at least until your photo reaches page 2. Removing a comment makes someone look like they didn't rate, will cause extra work for a staff member, and will therefore get you banned.

7a. If you receive a comment you feel is objectionable, leave it there and contact a staff member for assistance.

8. Upon request from any member or staff, rate any of the five photos that precede yours that do not have your rating.

9. With your rating, do not include any advertising or spam or promote any person, place or thing, especially your photostream.

17. It is your responsibility to know these rules.

==========
Notes:
* As you know if you have any experience with score groups, there is a large contingent of flickr photogs who are score group abusers. Our staff members have long past the point of issuing warnings and reminders to the never ending stream of them. Warnings require followup and verification. Many of the people who did not bother to learn the rules in the first place, do not bother to learn them after warning, and they rate improperly. This requires further warnings and reminders from staff. Often, after several go-arounds of doing the wrong thing due to never simply reading the simply rules, the member just leaves, rendering all the staff's invested time as worthless.

** only five are required, but usually, any given group of five photos will contain at least one from a non-scorer, which will be removed when discovered.

*** If you don't use the group's Official Comment Code, no ratings you give nor any comments you make will be recognized as coming from this group--either by the automated computer sweeper, or by the membership or staff. Creating a facsimile score code or invoking the name of this group in conjunction with a rating that does not include the Official Score Code is strictly prohibited.
