Hear ye, hear ye. It's about that time for our "15th day of the month's theme"
Here's a review of what's up and the rules that follow:.

Each month there will be a special theme.
You'll have 15 days to shoot it.
On the 15th of the month, we'll open the topic to post (it will be locked until then).
Then, you'll have until the last day of the month to post your picture(s) of the theme.

Themes can be really precise or quite vague. But they'll be in the mood of this group.
Feel free to be as creative (or not) as you want.

------------------------------------------------------

Rules :

- You'll be able to post here from the 15th to the last day of the month.
- The date the picture was taken posted must be written down.
- Pictures have to be in "medium" size.
- You can put up to 5 pictures maximum per post.
- You can't post 2 messages in a row.
- You can discuss and post "text only" messages related to posted pictures.
- You can't use already taken pictures, but have to shoot especially for the theme.

------------------------------------------------------

May's theme is... FORMAL OCCASIONS.

You are invited to dig up your prom pictures, your wedding pictures, your party pictures, your grad pictures --- any dress-up-fancy memento you have and photograph it. Please don't simply *scan* it. Let us see what you see-- the picture itself!

It's a party, people, and you're all invited! Shred your worries and toss them in the air like so much confetti. Blow up your anxieties and let them float to the ceiling like balloons. Tease your hair and your friends. It's time to play

Oh .. and... please don't be shy if your days of yore photos have you looking like a total and complete goober. Those are the best ones! haha

OK this thread need some male representation. You're all lovely, but an injection of testosterone would liven things up.

I was married in '88. The only things "80s" about my wedding was our turquoise vests under tasteful black tux's.

*runs off to rummage through the wedding album.
drab chicken [deleted] 11 years ago
i didn't kiss my prom date either. i gave him a stiffy though. i felt it through all the layers of my dress as i pressed my bottom against his middle while we danced like freaks. i felt flattered and for a minute there i was sure we'd kiss later. then he went and lost his temper. not in a scary way, but in a goober way. i forget what it was about now, but he was punching the air and karate kicking to illustrate his angst. total. goober. NO KISS FOR CALEB

Obligatory pictures with the old guys in the office - work parties with my colleague / flatmate Anna - 2003 & 2004.
My boss came to get ready with us, seeing Anna's white dress hanging up she said 'Anna's top's lovely, what's she wearing with that?' eek.

OK I really wanted to get my picture in before the end of the month. Why? Because glory is the cruise director!

IMG_4640_1 copy

August 20, 1988

The theme for my wedding was the Breakfast Club meets Pretty in Pink meets JFK.

My wife Kelly was/is beautiful like Jackie Kennedy (ladies would stop her in the subway and remark on the resemblance).

Of course I played the part of Blane (Andrew McCarthy). My best man, Ducky.

We danced to Rock Lobster -- which meant we thrashed around on the floor in our wedding suits and dresses. We also danced to Shout (lift your hands up, come on now, just a little bit softer now...).

The suits were conservative (maybe the yellow cumber-buns and bow-ties were a little "80s"); the dresses were beautiful.

My best buddy did a table dance and stripped down to his underwear (sidebar: he danced to a song called the Bear Cat Boogie by David Wilcox). It was perfect and I love my best buddy Al!

Phil Wallace - pictured on the left - was my best man. We'd been close friends for a while. We drifted apart.

My emcee -- John Desborough is a friend I keep close contact with; he is someone I cherish as a friend.

We had a perfect wedding -- I don't believe anyone threw a punch in anger, everyone danced, and everyone went home and made sweet sweet love -- this I am certain!

In celebration of our 20th anniversary next year, I will punch my hand in the air and do that twirly macho, stoner dance from the end of Breakfast Club!

Breakfast Club and Pretty in Pink are some of my fave moofies from that era.

I had a bit of a crusholla on Ducky {:->

Coming late to the party (just under the wire), here is our wdding picture, May 1973, very formal, Athenian-style:

Ritsa and Robert 1973

We got married in this tiny and historic little 11th-century church, right under the Acropolis, close to where we now live in Athens, and I walk past it frequently when in Athens.
