Not my place to say - but I know they and specially the Guru, would like us, the simple servents, to write the day each photo is taken, and of course only post one photo for each day.

Look forward to seeing more.

Ain't no sunshine when shes gone...

Background...ok I'll get a little braver ! Here we have my pride and joy(s) . Balcony geraniums..this year I went with white to match the restaurant's (below) decor. Usually I use red (what else ?). Temps in Paris today were near 15C and only a light rain - so this is what happens. Everyone asks what makes them continue to grow so long - my answer: all the bullshit from the restaurant below !!

Ain't no sunshine...well this year my wife was in Boston with a broken son (bike accident) during the holidays. I relied on the kindness of friends for places to party and celebrate - lots of fun but in the end...I like the company of my wife. SO...she is coming home tomorrow morning (son is mobile now) and the flowers are blooming. The real treat would be to have the sunshine return to Paris in her honor !

Thanks -

Today we took a little ride to the south of Paris to a little town on the Loire river. Skies really grey and drizzle rain. First days of the offical 2x per year sales at all stores. Everyone was out and packed into the stores - we found this little side street with a gentleman who had enough of the clammor...on his way home to peace and quiet. This is the stuff France is made of.

Yesterday the heavens were like lead and sending extra small drops of rain. Today the wind blew all that out and we went for a walk in the Champs de Mars. The sun extra low in the afternoon sky blanched most of the skyline but if you looked up...another story altogether !

Here we have one of the many trees trimmed in a special way to make them almost square on the top. Standing at the base and looking up the sky becomes clear and the branches give a sort of hairy appearence. What do you think??

Today was exceptional, wasn't it? I hope it stays like this through spring. These trees are very strange to me. I think it's the way they trim them sqaure and in the winter time they make me think of Baobab trees from The Little Prince. I used to dream about those trees growing up... funny that I live in country that has them all over the place.

I think they do look hairy, too.

I call this one: "Waiting for someone to cross"

The wet tonight caught the light from the boulangerie just at the cross walk. I waited the longest time for someone with an umbrella to cross at the right place...nada! SO - it occured to me that the intersection was also waiting. Anyway - that is what the voices said.

Tonight not so pensive - in fact just the opposite...not thinking - just doing. Sometimes you must.

OH - by the way...does anyone know who is the chap pictured on the back of the crosswalk light??

OK - I looked at the FAQ for the site and M. Guru says we can attack the photo with post processing as long as it applies to what happened to us that day...so here goes.

Today's lesson: Spin Selling (aka - if you can't blind them with brilliance, baffle them with bullshit)

So Blinded or Baffled - here we go. In the evening my wife and I were enjoying a helping of Moules & Frites at a Trappist hangout when the bewitching hour approached. Realizing I had no photo for the diary - I grabbed her camera phone and took a picture of the plate of moules...this morning when going to post - the photo did not exist on the phone. Damn - store ?? I guess the YES answer was too obvious so here we are with a photo that I did take on the 19th...albiet heavily altered (to protect the innocent).

Spin selling - we try to turn lemons to lemonaide, shit to shinole, take a subject (product) and sell it's advantages and hide the faults. We all do it - aware or unaware - spin the situation to our best advantage.

So - I submit, for your approval, the photo above. Co-workers after a yoga session. I would say that normal perspective was taken to a higher plane. Bring out the sphere effect and posterize a bit and voila: Today's photo spinsold.

Moral of the story: Save when asked to and spin when you don't !!

Gothic Rainy Saturday - Senlis, France

Yesterday we went again for a Saturday shoot in a small town just north of Paris. Out of the car - grab a sandwich from the local bakery - look for a place to sit and watch. We discovered this rather gothic and rather worn church - some of the windows and wooden support structures had long since found other places to live - in short the place needs some attention.

A comment was made that the only thing holding it up was the bio growth. Not long said, the heavens opened up and tried to drown us. Got off only a couple of shots before the real rain dropped.

Cameras away and umbrella covered dash back to dry transportation - we ate the sandwiches in a parking lot and sloshed our way back to a warm apartment and hot chocolat!

Our short saturday adventure...

They play every Sunday morning at the market on rue Cler (M École Militaire). Both are extremely talented and usually draw a crowd. Earlier they were in bright sunlight - I dashed back to the apartment to get my camera and upon my return they were shaded (drat). Anyway there are more photos of these two. I like them.

Today my wife and I took a Sunday Stroll with cameras in tow - nice bright colors and interesting subjects around. Naps in the afternoon rounded out a perfect Sunday.

I am off to old Cairo tomorrow - for the week. May be a few days before next post as sometimes the internet connection is unreliable - we will see.
