Feeling blue - mats et haubans

First day of the year, last day by the sea. Hate it. No hang over, but no energy either. Took pictures of the harbour because it's one of my favorite places in this town. Its smell, the seagulls, the noise the boats make in the wind...

Dans le nouveau TGV

I have this thing with train and train stations: I just love it. Today, I spent about 10 hours in trains and train stations. Just didn't feel like arriving anywere, could have gone on and on and cross Russia all the way to the Bering strait... But I didn't. Just had my first ride in the new TGV and stopped where I didn't want to go but had to.

Discovered that the internet is somehow not working on arriving. Highly fustrating: felt like spending the rest of the evening surfing the net and chitchatting on msn. Oh well, I read instead.

Bananes
Back at the office. Doing some internship in some huge institution. Big empty office to myself with a computer and a lamp. I spent the whole day on the internet, not doing anything for my work... or so little. I guess I'm bored before even trying to do something. Hope this state of mind won't last long: procrastinating is my greatest hobby, but it's no excuse, and I feel the guilt growing within me.
To cheer me up after work, I bought some bananas. :)

Work again. Bored... "What the heck am I doing here?" is what I keep asking myself.
Well, here is a picture of the place I work at. Two clues give it away.

Lovely pictures!
I love the yacht reflection. And the colours of 1st photo are just marvellous!
I have never travelled by long-distance trains. It must be really intresting. So I envy you in a way.
Bananas look gorgeous!
Train stations and borders have always seemed interesting to me - so many different people rushing, searching, selling... Thanks for the pic.

Back in elementary school, I remember the teachers giving us a big speech about how bananas were "brain food" and how we should eat one with breakfast on the days when we had big "official" tests.

I continued this through high school. SATs, ACTs, and AP tests were all marked by banana breakfasts!
beurre salé Posted 11 years ago. Edited by beurre salé (member) 11 years ago
@chibi: I like travelling by train, the journey is longer but it leaves your mind enough time to take in the movement. And so many landscapes you would otherwise never see...

@satrina*: I know what you mean... hobby or a pain, still hesitating between the two. ;)

@Sam: thanx, I'll take a look at yours!

@Francophony: I lived in the US for a year and my host dad would only eat bananas for breakfast. He was 70 and looked 60... Bananas are then perhaps also the secret to eternal youth ;)

Frames
Can't think of any other picture to illustrate my day. Spent the evening behind the screen. Did not feel like going out. I am fond of solitude in general, but particularly these days. I might be closing in on myself. Might not be very healthy, but I can't deal with life differently nowadays. I'm in an introspective phase and I tend to put many things into question.

Sure you're allowed to catch up... but still have to post only one picture per message... meaning when you have 2 pictures to post... well, you gotta do it in 2 different messages.
And, yep, nice photos and moods it is indeed.

You're a natural Guru, Philippe. :)

I really enjoy your portraits, reflection portraits are some of my favorites, too. I was taught in school to eat a banana before my math tests. Perhaps that's why I passed? I'm really terrible at math, otherwise. :)

in between tears. Cried my self out. Had to let go somehow, let myself go with the flow. Reach that bottom despare. But that love that's eating me, that I just can't let go. It's the only way out, though. I know all that.
Feeling of the day, definitely is: life's a bitch.

The Brooklyn Follies
Went to work. I was numb, all day. Another week-end spent in sadness.
They all look the same those mondays after the rain, after the cries. They're more sad than any other day of the week. No more tears to shed, cried too much already. That's when the pain and the sadness are the scariest, I guess: when crying is no use anymore, but the burden is still there, on your eyelids, and all you want is sleep and a good day of rest. But too bad, it's monday.
My only relief: reading The Brooklyn Follies at night. Reading and writing help. Reading and writing are the same. Same attempt to grasp the nonsense, the unexplainable.
Trying to live in between the lines and never to choose sides but my own.

Thanks guys for the support. I guess, it's all a question of me versus myself, one is fighting its way up, the other is happy to roll in the mud that sadness is. Self-pity is a comfortable place, somehow.

mother & daughter
went to the mall to get some food and to try and get that card reader replaced, but the shop closed down in the meantime!
Funny place, this mall. I'm a girl and at times very girly, but how do I hate shoppin' sometimes! It's all about existing in a way, through what you eat, what you wear. I won't brag about escaping this whole mess of lack and want, because I don't, but ggrrrr how do I hate it.
There, people looked alive and alert to me. In a mall, choosing their new clothes, their food for the week, people have a tremendous potential: they can become someone new: new coat, new identity.
I envied them because, right then, I didn't feel like I was in control, like I had this potential myself. All these possibilities didn't appeal to me because the only thing I want I can't get... and money can't buy, as one says.

early morning colors
Woke up early and full of energy. Resolution: today is gonna be a brighter day. Don't know if it really was, but feelin' like I'm moving towards the bright side of life. A battle won, but the war is not over yet.
And, uh, this taking a pic a day thing is giving me a hard time trying to get better at photography. I live in a dull place and have a very routine job right now and I know and see very few people here... and what's more, it's always dark during my free time!!! I lack interesting subjects! that's how I end up taking those seen-a-hundred-times-already pics of the sky... although today, this could have a meaning. Might be at the dawn of somethin'.

Came here for the first time. You have some great photos, love the first one a lot. Like you, I find peace with the sea, seagull, boats and wind, go there often though and it gives me peace....

Introspective, one submission a day is a GREAT photo, sorry about the feelings that came with it, hope you're feeling better by now...

The entry for the 8th made me think about my life as well. But I like the way you can post a picture and write about it in this wonderful way...
