First I want to say thank you to sunshinecity for the invite! :)
I am Jodie from Ontario, Canada.
I just got a new camera for Christmas, so I am excited about doing this. I just hope I can keep it up!

I spent January 1st taking down and packing away all the Christmas decoroations. The kids can't wait to get everything out but, when it is time to put things away only one of the was willing to help me.

Happy Birthday Michelle (Jan 7) and Ryan (Jan16)
We had a double birthday party for two of my kids. Michelle who turned 15 (Jan 7) and Ryan who will be 5 (Jan 16). We ended up having both partied together because this is the only weekend this month my husband isn't working. We had 14 kids between the ages of 4 and 15. (some showing up uninvited). We had an ice cream cake and a regular cake and four party sized pizzas. Even though the reason for having the parties together was so my husband could be there he spent most of the time hiding out upstairs playing video game, only appearing when the food was being served.

Homework, Homework, Homework

My four youngest kids are now in school (the oldest has already graduated). It seems my son is grade one is the only one who has regular homework. The older kids hardly ever bring any work home. He has this much every night except Friday (when he doesn't have to bring home the yellow book). He even had homework for the Christmas holidays.

Grade one sure has changed a lot since I was little.

New hair cut
This morning my oldest daughter and I went and had our hair cut. In the afternoon I went shopping with both girls. My younger daughter lost her purse. We went back through the mall retracing our steps, but didn't find it. We decided to go to the customer service on the chance someone turned it in. It was there! It is nice to know there are still honest people out there.

Peterborough Petes VS Ottawa 67's
I took the kids to a hockey game, the Peterborough Petes VS Ottawa 67's. The Petes lost 3-2. Unlike most hockey games I have been to there were no fights. Four of the Petes where at my kids school the day before the game and promised the kids they would do their best not to fight.

@dda1605 - yes, I have been to games in the past that have turned pretty violent, but like are local team many are working to change that.

@Яick Harris - I haven't been to a Generals game in Oshawa for years. I remember we used to always have larger crowds here when the Generals played here.

@msspider66 - The is the first game I have been to in a long time too. (you used to get in for free? lucky ;)

@Jonathan Riverwalker - Yes, I think this mentoring program they have is a great idea. The come into the schools and talk to the kids about responsibility, respect, honesty etc. It really seems to be making a difference for both the kids and the way the play hockey.

@satrina*- yes they are. I was really impressed when my son told me about the promise they made.

Wow, I've never been to a hockey game... I bet it's awesome.... maybe can be a tad violent, but makes for a great exciting time huh? LOL
If there's no heated action, sports can be boring!! LOL just joking!

I love the pink M&Ms... We don't get much of these things here. Our main way of support and funding such causes are slightly different. They're be specific awareness days where these groups gather, maybe on every other street corner or "piazza" and sell specific items, such as a plant, an easter egg during easter, or candles. This way the whole proceedings go to the cause. But to my knowledge no major company partners up with the cause to create or modify a certain pre-existing item (such as making pink M&Ms)...

I wish they would!

Where the Sidewalk Ends

There is a place where the sidewalk ends
And before the street begins,
And there the grass grows soft and white,
And there the sun burns crimson bright,
And there the moon-bird rests from his flight
To cool in the peppermint wind.

I spent another afternoon at the emergency department with my son. I was working in the grade one class when they called me down to the office. My son was having trouble breathing. We took him up to the hospital. You would think having difficultly breathing would be important but, they made him wait THREE HOURS to see a doctor. When the doctor finally saw him he was breathing normal. They asked him a bunch of questions about what was happening at the time it started. The doctor thinks it may have been caused by someones perfume but, we still don't know for sure.

Concerning your son - this is my field - sounds like (here is the disclaimer - only an internet opinion) as the weather was cold and he recovered quickly, without much help from a slow ER...I would throw a guess at "cold air bronchospasm". There is a test for this. I'll take this offline if you want more information. Just send a message to me on the flicker mail and I'll respond. To be honest, sometimes - depending on the severity of the bronchospasm - the ER team will quietly wait to see if breathing is easing up or getting worse prior to administration of meds...again just an internet opinion and should not be taken for gospel...
