eelend's 2007

eelend PRO 8:11am, 2 January 2007
So here it is. 2007 has arrived and I feel it's going to be a good year for me. Better than 2006, at least.
I think I needed some kind of change, some kind of rebirth. I don't know if this new year will give me the change I need, but I think it's beautiful starting a year (365 days, wow!) and I'm excited.

I'm glad I spent Christmas with my family, and here they are. Only dad is missing, but well. Next year, we'll see him in this picture:

One of the things that I like from Christmas is that I can be with some relatives I don't visit along the year. Like my cousin Joana, the girl from the pic.

But now I'm back in Madrid, I have to come back to work and I don't know when I'm going to see them again. I'm not sad, though. It's my life and I like it (to be honest, I think I couldn't wait to scape, if I was a long time with them, although I love them a lot, haha).

listening to "broken boy soldier"
it's almost 8 am and the world is still death and dark outside
i wonder if there's somebody who puts the streets away every night and does the contrary every morning

oh how i'd love to be still in bed
and wake up and just play
no work, no world outside my little universe
just play

Every morning, when I wake, I wish that I could just get up and play. Stay in my pajamas all day, listen to music, play with my son, eat good food. It is not that I don't enjoy work, in fact, after I get up and moving, this little dream seems to disappear but it is always there when I first wake up in the morning...

The cubes and forms look like they have a lot of "play" potential...

The Three Wise Men came and left and I had a great day so far.
That's maybe the best present, don't you think? Having a little happyness everyday and enjoying it as if you had nothing to lose (do we have anything to lose, anyway?).

I miss the rain –again.
But I like these cold and bright days.

How many buses did I catch last week? I lost count. I know I've been 30 hours in different buses, more or less. Jeez. I don't want to see a bus in my life.
But I adore looking at the people who are waiting at the station. Waiting for other people to come, waiting for their bus... When somebody is waiting, there's something in his eyes that says they are not going to be there forever, that that place is just a momentary place to stay. But they also say that they could wait for the people they love until the Earth gets old and dies.
And that's just beautiful.

- 2.jan: SHE looks nice, really pretty. Photo is great, you should print out a large one, frame it, and give her ;-)
- 3.jan: is this some sort of a riddle, or game? (ps. only one photo each day ;-)
- 4.jan: Nice shot - I always enjoy the simple photos, that just capture the light correctly, and often highlight something nobody noticed was this nice.
- 5.jan: and this is???
- 6.jan: Yeh, bus-stops, I am a bit of a scary cat when it comes to photographing strangers Though often I see great opportunities to do so.

Have bookmarked you, and will check up on you from time to time, keep up the good work.

This city is cold like hell. If that's possible.
At least, I can say I have got two heaters at home: the one I bought some months ago and my cat, sat on my legs.
It's the only way I can stand it.

I wish it was raining.
Cities are more beautiful when they're wet.

I feel I've got a puzzle in my head and just a few pieces in my hands.
Shit.

When I was a child, the lady who lived downstairs (who was not married and had not children) used to come home, talked to my mother and played with my sister and me.
We moved and she kept on coming, almost everyday. She always asked about studies, boyfriends, friends, life... I moved to Madrid a year ago and she kept on asking and worrying. She was part of our family.

Last night Mum called and told me Asa was gone. She was very sick and her body was too old to go on this time.

I can't be at the funeral and, although I know Mum and Iratxe -my sister- are going to be there, I feel like hell. I feel that I'm letting her down.

sunshinecity 12 years ago
... sometimes a certain feeling in our hearts is worth a lot more than an action. Don't feel bad for not being able to go to the funeral. If it can't be helped, it can't be helped. I'm sure Asa knows you care about her and she feels your pain and love no matter where you are. It's what's inside our hearts that counts!
Sorry to hear about your loss.

Better day today, but I'm tired as ever. Hard day at work, almost no time to have lunch, and German class in ten minutes. And, after that, I have to visit some friends. I wish I could rest for a while...
My phone is out of battery, but I'm not going to charge it until it's time to go to bed. I don't want anybody to call me and ask me to do anything else.

Thanks Heaven tomorrow is Friday and I'll go to a birthday party. It really doesn't excite me very much, but well, I can come back home soon, if it's too boring.
I hope it isn't, anyway ;)

Not a bad day. I worked, had lunch and went out to buy a lot of food and some presents for the party and the girls who were a year older than the day before.

It was a nice party: nice people (friends and some people I first met there), nice? music (everybody wanted to be the dj and it wasn'tt always a good idea), great meal and alcohol.
Everything was great until 1 am, when I fainted in my way to a room to take my bag :( My blood pleasure is very, very low, and I suppose it suddenly became lower.
But it didn't end up wrong, though. I wake up and my friends gave me chocolates (our friend Teresa erans her living cooking chocolates and those are the best ones I've ever eaten) until I was strong enough to come back to the party.

Now, I have a funny story about how I stupidly fainted at a party and a little bump in my head ;)

Still the bump in my head, but it doesn't hurt very much :)

I've been cooking for three hours today, because some friends of mine came home to have lunch. It's been a great lunch. We laughed a lot and I think María was a bit drunk, but nobody fainted this time :)
They played with my cat and gave me advice about how could I make it more spacious (my flat has 33 square meters, I haven't got much space for anything).

And now they're gone and I can rest for a while before I go out. My German teacher, Anja, is coming back to Germany and she invited Valerio (my classmate) and me to have dinner at her place.
We bought her a poetry book, because we don't know if we'll ever see her again, and we want her to have something to remember us. She's been a great teacher and she IS a great person.

eelend PRO 12 years ago
January, 14

The party was great. A lot of people from a lot of places (USA, Germany, Spain, Italy, England -that house was like the seat of the UN, haha)... and German Käsebrot (delicious!).
Valerio and me met some interesting people and, I don't know why, we ended up talking to a physicist about Philosophy and Science. Strange, isn't it?

But it was nice. Now I have a big headache and I really don't understand it, because I just drank soft drinks –I still remembered the bump in my head and I didn't find the idea of having anouther one very tempting :S

But well. I'm going to work this afternoon. I'm designing a magazine and I have to meet my boss –Verónica; what a great woman. She's full of life and I love it– and work a bit, because she wants new sections and more pages in it.
Let's see how it goes.

After that, I'm going to the cinema with some friends. We're going to see "The Prestige"! Hehe, I can't wait.

At the end, we didn't see "The Prestige". One of my friend saw it the day before and told us it was horrible, so we decided to see "Flags of our fathers". And, well, it wasn't too bad. I liked it, although I think it could be shorter.

Anyway, I came back home (after working all afternoon and watching the movie) and I enjoyed some episodes of Futurama –Christmas present, hehe–.

I'm working from 3.30 to 11.30 pm this week. Great because I don't have to wake up very early and not so great because I get home at 00.15 and that kills me.

Oh, and I was playing with Shanghai (my cat) yesterday and she had a great time. All I can say is that, the next time, I'm going to wear an armour when I play with her :)

Nice day yesterday. Although I had to work a lot and the last hours at the office were boring, I felt strangely fine when I came home. I discovered that the men from my office prefer working than going out for a coffee when we have 20 free minutes to do it (and I must say I don't understand it) and that they like my kendo wallpaper (if they didn't, they would have taken it off from the computer).

I think this is going to be a hard day. I have to work at home and at the office, I have to clean the house (and fight with the cat; she finds cleaning and biting the broom very funny), I have to visit the doctor -nothing happens, it's just a checkup-, I have to cook... Jeez.

This morning's been stressing. I woke up at 7 am (I went to bed at almost 2 am, I didn't sleep very much –as usual), did a lot of things I had to do, took a lot of photos at the studio –we had to photograph some models today–, had lunch –too quick, not enough–, had a German class and came to the office (I NEED COFFEE).

I feel like I'm resting (really? Did I say I need coffee?) and I don't know if it's funny or strange. I'll be here until 11.30 pm and get home at 00.15 am. That's why I don't know exactly what day is it. I look at my phone once and again just to know it's still today.
These shifts are killing me (softly? Jeez).

I feel a bit nostalgic.
Not long ago, my sister opened a fotolog. Some months later, my cousin Itziar did the same. And now they're loading the pics we took the last night of December (the first of January?). They make me laugh everyday, although they are horrible pics where our faces make us look insane (we drank very much; well, it was Christmas). And sometimes I just look at their fotologs to remember the great time we had that night, because it was special: Itziar was at home again (she's been nun for 10 years, but she finally got out :D) and her sister, Ainhoa, enjoyed her first New Year's Eve as a married woman.
And that's great because my family thinks that she is the only one who's going to have a husband. They think my sister, my other cousin and me are just unable to "hunt" a man (?).
Oh, yes, I laugh a lot when I think about that, too :D

And here she is:

It happened yesterday. I was at the office and one of the boys asked me if I wanted a sweet. He had a lot of those sweets I used to eat when I was a child (those ones that get stuck in your teeth, I don't know when was the last time I got one of those sweets, mmmm) and I said "Yes, thank you! I'll take one!".
Of course, it got stuck in my teeth. I took it off, but... oh, shit! I lost one of my fillings. Just fantastic. It was 10 pm and I couldn't call to my dentist and make an appointment, so I kept on working, went home, tried to have dinner just chewing with the left part of my jaws and went to bed.

My tooth awoke me this morning. No breakfast (well, yes, a small, small breakfast, not enough for me), a lot of things to do, no time for anything (it's kind of dèja vu, isn't it?), I took this pic... and the pain stopped (I couldn't beleive it). And it haven't come back yet. But I have to wait until next week to see my dentist :S

Today's been a good day, though. The last German class with Anja (our teacher). We (Valerio, my classmate, and me) are going to miss her a lot, because she's a wonderful person and teacher. She gave us her adress in Dresden, so we'll visit her someday. And we must find another teather, if we don't want to forget our German.

Mmmm two hours left. It seems that time stopped at 9 pm for years. But I'm happy because I'll be able to rest tonight. No alarm-clock tomorrow, no hurry... and sweet dreams, I hope (if my tooth doesn't start to play again).
:)

What a great day!
I killed the alarm-clock last night, and I slept for 7-8 hours (that's unbelievable for me), so... I woke up late, went out and did some shopping (a collection of poems, a comic book by Quino -his work is fantastic- and two CDs) and talked a lot Iván -my exboyfriend, my friend, my partner (we created a publishing house two years ago and now we are going to work in it hard)- about publishing.
And, after that, we went to the cinema with our friends and watched "Apocalypto". I liked it a lot. I admite I didn't know what to expect, but I think it's a good film. It's full of violence, it's gripping... and I also liked it because the characters didn't speak in Spanish or English, but their original language. That's good.

It's so late... I'm tired and I must work tomorrow. It's going to be a hard day and I should go to bed NOW, but I'm not feeling sleepy. I'm thinking about taking some photos, but I don't know... maybe I'll just read.
Let's see.

I've been working today, too, but relaxed. I cooked, did and hung out the washing and watched TV... and felt REALLY relaxed at last. I needed a dat just for me. No friends, no errands... nothing. Just the cat, the sofa, books and music. And a bit TV.

What a freezing and good day. Harkaitz Cano (a great poet from The Basque Country; I met him some years ago) sent me the prologue he wrote for my collection of poems and I must say it's really beautiful. So touching. I'm very greatful to him.

I took my first class of body pump today. It was funny, but every muscle of my body is hurting right now. I suppose that means I'm in the right way :)

And I went to the dojo to see my friends (they were my kendo mates, if I'm not making up that word) and have a coffee with them.

So yes, it's been a nice day. I'm going to play with my cat (I use to play with her as I did when I was a child; sometimes I think sh'e older than me :S Because, sometimes, it's really great being a child again, don't you think?).

I'm happy as ever. When I got home from work, I found a letter in my mailbox. It was from Janet. Janet is an Australian woman (she'll be 60 years old, more or less) who I met in Cracow. She sat besides me in the bus that took us to Auschwitz, we talked a lot and we promised we would talk again in the future.
And we did. I sent her the pictures I took in Cracow, because she had told me her camera was broken, and we have written letters to each other since then. I really love that woman. She's kind, she's wise and she's more alife than some young people I know.
Sometimes I think if there was a reason to meet her then. If everything was written. If I had to meet her before it was too late. Sometimes, I think that's the way life goes. You meet a person, apparently so different from you, and you feel she's a good friend you can care of, although she lives in Australia and it's imposible for you to see her again.
I suppose that's life, and I'm grateful.

After that, a young spanish poet, Elena Medel, talked to me today because she has organized a beautiful project for poets (in March, there will be a meeting in Malaga -South of Spain-, where poets are going to read their poems, to give lectures on poetry and literature... and young (woman)poets have to dress up as famous classic (man)poets and pose. There will be an exhibition and a book compiling the writings and the photographs of those poets) and she wants me to take part of it.
Of course, I said YES YES YES YES YES YES!!!!!!! I'm sooo excited!

I feel like I'm starting a travel. Everything's new and bright (or not so bright, but it's good anyway) and the world rolls in the right way. And the bus, or the train, or the plain are empty, but I know they'll be crowded soon.

(I'm too happy and too philosophical tonight :))

Love the story about Janet and I love the fact people still write letters to each others and not only Emails.

Thursday was a strange day. Cold and dark and I didn't have time for anything. Lots of work, lots of errands to do and lots of talking to my family explaining why I didn't call before. You know, too many things... it's like a little song that I always end up singing; and what is worse: it's true :S I wish my days had 35 hours instead of 24.

But I liked the way it finished.
I went to have a drink with my kendo mates (?) and I ended up having dinner and having a great night with a friend, so I had no time to come here and write (ooops) :)

No slept at all and gone to work. Had breakfast at a cafe, and drank a lot of coffee in the morning. But my head didn't clear at all and I had to fight hard to keep my eyes opened.
Came back home, thinking of going to bed and sleep and I just couldn't. I was completely awake (Murphy's law, I know). So I translated some writings and I waited for my German classmate to come home. When he got here with his girlfriend (Ana, what a great girl), we had tea and ate cookies (they had bought some little cakes, but weabsolutely forgot them ?????????) and we looked for German teachers. We're going to meet two of them next week. Let's see.

I was tired and I didn't want to go out, so I watched "The Covenant" (well, it's funny) and read a bit. When I was almost asleep, lying down on the sofa, the only thing I could think was "mmmmmm... what a great night".

:)

Nice sink. I agree about wishing there were more hours in the day. 30 hours would do it for me.

sunshinecity: no, I have no children :) that's Xabier, my friend Elena's son

satrina*: thank you! :) I'll tell you about the book when I finished it

marc: you have to trust me more ;)

Didier 2007: I love writing letters. I use to write a lot of emails because my friends don't like writing at all and it's easier and faster for us talking like that. But I really miss writing letters and feeling happy when I see one in my mailbox :)

You have some really beautiful shots in here.

I agree... it's hard to write letters sometimes. I think part of my problem is that I haven't written in a while so think that my writings have to be long and profound or something. If I did some shorter "thinking of you" cards it'd be a good way to get back into it. I always say I want to do it more, but email is so easy. ugh.

My first visit to your journal thread -- very nice writing and photos. Your poetry projects sounds exciting. I like the B&W photo of the bus interior and the photo taken earlier at the transit station, and the truck on the foggy highway, so many good ones, including the self portraits. I'll be back to see how you're doing!

I hate when I can't sleep at all. But when I do, I can usually get by with as little as 4 hours. Seven or eight is better, but I will settle for 4 over none at all.

I hope you can catch up on sleep tonight.

What a nice Saturday. Woke up late, had a shower and had breakfast with Iván. Talked a lot and took some photographs. It was a beautiful Saturday morning: cold, bright, sunny... really lovely.

I came back home and passed the afternoon reading and writing. So good. So restful.
Had dinner, some Futurama and gone to bed.

Some days are made just for taking a little time for ourselves, don't you think?
