Maybe this project will be one new year's resolution I hold to, that'd be a first ;)

Happy new year.

Wow widescreen-huge-telly-babysitting-thingi-for-the-kids-of-parents-with-hangover.... wish I had one... the TV that is, not the hangover. Incidentally I have neither.
Love the photo and Happy New Year - welcome to the project.

No hangover here either, Sam, just my kid getting his bedtime story in 30minutes - skipping chapters is so cool, especially when you've seen the damned thing a gazillion times. TV was myself and herself's Christmas & birthdays pressie to each other, great for watching films.

I completely love this shot! The colour and contrast. The treatment (black and white overlay?) and the noise here. Nicely done piece of work.

WooooW, superb. Where is "outside" ?
leroyer Posted 11 years ago. Edited by leroyer (member) 11 years ago
Oh yeah... I would be outside all the time if I were there... at least the first weeks.
By the way, please indicate in your messages the date the photo was taken. Thanks.

Great photo up there at the top. Fortuituous (sp?) framing --it looks like the ant is smiling down on your boy. Very cute

Happy 2007!

I, too, enjoy the Bug's Life photo. And your outdoors.

Keep up the good work. :)

@dda1605: 'outside' is Co Wicklow which is south of Co. Dublin, Ireland. It's about a 25minute drive from the outskirts of Dublin and it's pretty much like this for miles in every direction. Myself and the brother used be brought up there at weekends as kids, so I figured it was time to bring my young lad - I live further away these days, but it was worth the trip today.

@ philippe: My bad, sorry.

@lucky: yeah, the idea was there and I banged off a few shots as the dvd was playing, just fluked the frame the camera caught. Sometimes even the gods smile for the camera ;)

LOL - I just thought you had taken a photo of a painting in your house!!! So --- great shot there ;-)

2007 / 365 / 003 : Temperature

2007 / Jan3 / 365 / 003

Back in t'office today after the Christmas break and this is the thermometer thingy that sits near my desk. Not much work done today, just a few of us in comparing who got what and how it sucks to actually have to work for a living. Just about finished off one design - I'm a website designer - and I'll do the finishing touches tomorrow. I work from home on thursdays so I can spend more time with Jack, it makes the week go faster too.

2007 / 365 / 004 : Thursdays

2007 / Jan4 / 365 / 004

Better get used to this kid coz he'll be appearing here a lot. I work from home on Thursdays and I try to spend as much time with him during the day as I can, catch up on my work in the evenings when he's gone to bed. Today he had an ear infection which meant loads of whineyness and whinging. Brought him to the doc this evening, stopping off for a pack of chocolate buttons on the way - yeah, I bribe my kid, whatever works. Bought him a new pair of wellington boots today, he wanted to wear them to bed so he must like them.

For jan.3: yeh yeh... it sucks working ... specially being a website designer...
What I wouldn't do to be back in the office environment.... working with computers again... sniff sniff... (tears... depressed...)

lol - nice photo. Have Like noooo idea what it is - even though you tell us,... kinda what it is.
Thinking of steeling this 365 / 003 idea - with a twist.

2007 / 365 / 005 : Office View

2007 / Jan5 / 365 / 005

This is the view from our office window looking towards the mountains seen above in day two's effort. Not a lot to say about this, typical industrial estate buildings which aren't the prettiest in the world. The office itself is 2,000sq ft spread over two floors. I set the company up 5 years ago with a business partner - cos I'm crap at the business side of things. Just the two of us back then working from home and subsidising whaever income we made with whaever savings we had. Getting there slowly but surely but there have been times, especially in the first two years, which were pretty rough going. There's 10 of us now, 8 full-time and two part time. Hope the next 5 years are a bit easier.

Again, you make this like a daVince painting or something.... are you just living inside a painting, or what are you doing to your photographs...:-)

Nah, I live in Photoshop. Probably spend more time per week in that programme than I do sleeping. sad, but true.

This shot is made up of two exposures, one for the sky and one for everything else. Placed the sky one one a layer on top of the other one and erased whatever was too dark so that it revealed the light ground/building image underneath. Then went about with my usual thing of adding colour overlays at different transparency settings. Every image is different, so the techniques change for each one, but the basics remain the same. When I have some down time I'll track what I do with an image and write a step by step. Glad you like the last one, to me it's just a place of work and it's damned hard to see what's under your nose at times ;)

Aye, Jack's ear infection seems to be clearing up. He was running around earlier on shouting his new favourite phrase "I'm Mad! I'm Mad I am" which a friend thought him. Funny as hell.
Samrag 11 years ago
Get it on videa... and Youtube it... would love to see a kid running around shouting "I'm Mad!" lol. Here is a video of Tristan playing his gitar while watching Johnny Cash

I prefer trees and green grass, too. Luckily we have a park near by to keep me sane. I visited Ireland once years ago, the most amazing green I've ever seen. Looking forward to seeing more of your green country.

I spent 6 weeks in Swords, co. Dublin, last fall and I wish I could be back to Ireland in the nearest future. It's really nice and beautiful country.

2007 / 365 / 006 : Rainy Day

2007 / Jan6 / 365 / 007

Homeoffice - AKA our desks.

There's two exposures at work, one for the exterior, one for the interior. Boosted the saturation of the green to see if I could make the eye travel outside the windows.

I sit on the left of the pic, Gillian on the right.
I'm tidier so I win.

Sometimes my car stops there, sometimes it hits the house.

the chair is courtesy of my sister in law, she used work for Gateway when they had their european HQ in Ireland. Guess when they ran out of government subsidies they shagged off back to America.

Nowt much else to say.
Half time between Man Utd and Villa, gotta go ;)

The light you get in your pics is wonderful, however it is achieved, although I suspect the natural light is soft and rich, when it's not Guinness-black. Since I have never used Photoshop (Picasa does as much as I need for now), and bought it for Christmas, I will be an avid follower of your step-by-step tutorial.

2007 / 365 / 008 : Roadscape

2007 / Jan8 / 365 / 008

Don't ye jus love going to the office on a monday morning in the lashings of rain? Okay, the sky wasn't naturally this black, more a typical overcast dull day with a light rain. Pah, and to top it all I get an earful from a client - my first ever - cos one part of his site isn't working. Still, it'll get fixed quickly and the world won't stop but it just annoys me when people can't be civil when things go wrong. Hmm, probably explains why I made the sky so dark...reflecting my overall crap mood at the end of the day.

@Sunshinecity: yeah, it's a cool way to work with your partner...most of the time. ;)

@Rob: Almost every image I post goes through Photoshop I'm afraid. I generally use it to get across what the image makes me feel or to create a mood, it's almost as if I'm try to see portray something would look in the future as a memory to me. I think people see/feel experiences differently, guess I'm just trying to express that. Right, that's enough arty blah blah. I like fecking about in photoshop is the real answer...kind of...maybe ;)

Hey pal...

Great pictures you have.
There is a rule saying that there must be one picture/day and only one, posted. That picture has to have been taken that day, and there is only 1 picture/message allowed.

Damn, you broke 3 rules in 1 shot !
And I'm the bad cop, here.
Feel free to post the links to your photos... but please remove those latest.
Thanks a lot.

2007 / 365 / 010 : Blue Eyed Devil

2007 / Jan10 / 365 / 010

This is Woochie, one of 5 cats we have but he was the first. When we built this place, just before we got married I moved in 3 months before it was finished, just to keep an eye on progress and so that no one would steal various bits and pieces. For those months it was just myself and psycho cat, I kept out human intruders, he kept out mice. I went shopping, he went hunting. I scratched his back he clawed the hell out of my arm. After myself and herself got married she brought her two cats, Woochie wasn't impressed and was even less impressed when they had kittens...two of which we kept. He's still not impressed. About two years ago he had trouble walking all of a sudden and we brought him to the vet. Seems someone had taken pot shots at him with a shotgun and one of the pellets had lodged near his spine and another had broken his hip. He still has 6 pellets in him that he carries around to this day. Cost a small bloody fortune to pay for an operation on his hip, but I think it was worth it because he's so full of grumpy joy...a bit like me then ;)

2007 / 365 / 011 : Night Reading

2007 / Jan11 / 365 / 011

I usually have a stack of books beside the bed, especially after Christmas. Probably a design book or two and probably a car magazine or three. Normally there'd be an ashtray there too, but I've been on the patches since before Christmas. I can't say I've given up the ciggies, but I'm down from 30-40 a day to 4 or 5.
'stee 11 years ago

sunshinecity 11 years ago
... omg 40 ciggies a day??? Wow!!!
Keep at it with the patch... if you're down to 4, that's pretty awsome!!!
As for those pringles... wow I wish we could get salt n vinegar chips here!!! I sooo miss them!!!

... I totally agree with you on the James Bond reference... dunno why I didn't think of that!! LOL
