This kicks off Day 1 in my year of daily photos. This is just a quick shot around the house - I didn't go anywhere today.

Welcome and Happy New Year !

Yes, this is what happens... After doing this "daily photo" project myself for the last 4 months I have had many days that I end up taking the photo at home. But that is also challanging, and based on the photo above you have many more beautiful photos to share with us, even if you will stay home most part of the year ;-)

Well the new year is all about new beginnings, so what better than to get this diary going than to show off a new beginning of mine. I switched. My Chistmas present (to myself) is this lovely new 24" iMac. Already I'm in love! OS X, Aperture, Final Cut...I could go on, did I mention it has a 24-inch display?

So, my iMac gets the trophy, while my "old" computer, a 17" Fujitsu laptop sits idle.
Samrag 11 years ago
Oh that is just fantastic photo - I'm getting a ha** on - and it is also just such a great photo with the light coming in... the dark colours... beautiful. I posted a similar photo few months ago (though not nearly as good): (computer)

You made me feel better about my portable hard drive Christmas present to myself. Can't imagine spending the dough on an iMac. Well. Actually I can. And that's scary all in itself.

So pretty.

And now for my third installment of the year I present my living room, or my parents living room, that is. It's so nice compared to the dumpy excuse of an apartment I live in up at school.

There's a few things I like in this photo: I really enjoy the contrast of blue and amber that the sun setting and color balance difference offered here. I'm also a total Dr. Pepper-aholic. And lastly, there's a sign of the Times, the 2006 Person of the year as "You".. hmm.
cherriza 11 years ago
hmmmm 24" imac *drool*... Can I be your best friend????

Better than Last...
Samrag 11 years ago
Heard about that Times thing... though I haven't seen a copy.
Yeh pretty cool photo.... might have had the whole lamp in the photo ?? but the blue colours are specially fab!

Yikes! I fell asleep watching a movie and woke up just in time. This isn't a photo I'm especially proud of, but hopefully it will remind me to put a bit more effort next time!

Is kd5ftn a call sign?
Samrag 11 years ago
lol - Great!!! don't you just love these last moments - SHIT have to post photo... just any photo... yeh let's just take photo of nothing!!

But strangely good photo though!

Yeah, ParaScubaSailor, KD5FTN is my FCC assigned ham radio callsign. Unfortunately, since I've been in college, I've hardly used the radio. However, it does make a great login name, since I can use it on any site without worrying about it being taken.

Going through the closet today, I pulled out this yearbook from my old junior college. It's interesting to look back and see where I was two years ago.
Samrag 11 years ago
You really are good with these close-ups. Yeh it is wonderful to have yearbooks - My school didn't have one, but I recently found one from my girlfriend - where a comic drawing was made of each of the student... really cool stuff, and each of the photo had some reminders as to the character she is/was, and how her 'friends' in school saw her.

...thought you were older then this!!! ;-)

...because playing with lenses is so much fun!

These are some conversion lenses for my video camera, a macro and wide-angle. I was also playing with my super-convenient iSight camera which can be fun.

OK, someone must have told you!!! I was looking at your photos last time I commented and thought by myself that you were rather dark. Photos of things! dark things! - but nice and wonderful photos.

So seeing the photo above was fantastic - seeing the playful side of you. Hope to see more of those in the coming months ;-)

I have to admit, most of my photos were rather dark. I think I blame it on the lack of finding interesting subjects, thus trying to make them more interesting by making them moody. I'll be back at school in a few days will all new surroundings, so we'll see if things change.
sunshinecity 11 years ago
hehe...... thpose lenses look good on you

What is it? Take a guess and I'll update tomorrow to let you know!

So, I was playing around with a macro lens adapter for my video camera (featured above). I thought this shot was pretty cool and would be a fun mystery for everyone. It would be awesome if you post your guess in this forum and as a comment on the picture, that way other people can see your guess as well.

I also took some other macro shots, check 'em out!

First thought saw-dust, spines... what ever they are called... but too many black spots in it
Then I thought cheese... but still wrong texture
Then I thought chicken meat ...
then I just simply gave up

And the answer I was looking for is: "Pencil Shavings", Gamany came the closest in my comments with the answer: sawdust. Thanks for playing!

I was emptying out my pencil sharpener and playing with a macro lens, so the two naturally came together.

Ah, I see it now.

Okay, while it's not my picture, all I can say is WOW. I'm excited!

So, my excuse for not having a picture today is this iPhone. I woke up way too early today to check out the Macworld keynote with the iPhone announcment and then I drove to school for the semester. I'm also not unpacked yet and on spotty wifi, so this is the only picture for now.
