The first day of this year was spent in front of TV with Matrix. I have seen the first one before so today I watched the other two. The flat is a mess. But I guess it doesnt have to be clean on the very first day, does it?;) Today Im going to watch Twin Peaks. They start to show it in FIN again. Heard so much about it so have to check it out! Kari even bought a soundtrack few days ago!!

I woke up 4.40am today. That's when I wake up every day to work. I hate it. But it's even worse when I have to wake up that early after 4 days OFF work.. Well, I basically felt all day like I havent been in bed at all.
Prepared my red&white swap. Did some tags for it. Today while shopping in town for the swaps decided not to participate in any more of them. Well, maybe in some small one from swap-bot. Tomorrow I wake up same early. So goodnight:)

Thanks Samrag! Not sure how to define a swap:) It's all about sending parcels (themed in some way) to the people and receiving sth back. A lot of surprises and new things. But costly..

I started falling asleep on sofa from 5pm today. Then Kari dragged me to sleep to bed. And as soon as I changed the place, the sleep ran away... So Im spending an evening with my red winnie-the-pooh pyjamas in case I fall asleep on the kitchen floor or sth;)
One more day and then I can SLEEP as long as I want!

My new favourite drink! It's called Susan and it's really really good! We had some drinks before going to the movies! We finally went to see Casino Royale. The Craig guy wasn't bad! And we heard almost horror stories;) After the movie we had some drinks in the local Irish pub.
Im looking for a job again! From Monday:) But now Im going to enjoy my weekend rest.

@samrag: Thanks! I got my lazy me up from sofa and checked the dictionary! It says 'needle'! Doesnt specify from which tree but maybe then it is the general word for the conifers.

i don't even want to think about undressing our christmas tree. it seems like such a huge task but i have to cos we don't have any space already. it's like this big hulking figure in the corner.

wasn't daniel craig hot? in a really bad way i think? i've seen casino royale twice already. :)

good luck in your job hunting!

Ha, I think my boyfriend is hot! And he was next to me in cinema.. So to notice how hot Craig is I should go to watch him alone I guess... ;)

That is the way to spend a sunday.... cool stuff... I see remotes (topic on Sunshinecity's day), phones (topic of Maia's day), and chocolage (one my my topics for the day)... We all share similar stuff.

Heida and I watched show about Freddy Mercury last night in similar surroundings, with the computer, and the phones, and the remotes and the chocolate, and coke, and coffee, and blanket....

hhhmm Sundays, the should be more of them.

I had a free day today! No work and slept as long as I wanted. Left some clothes to be fixed at local 'siuvykla', picked a parcel from my mom (Birthday presents and my glasses!), visited my optician, bought a little surprise for my boyfriend, and another one for us both, then cleaned the flat with an easy mood, had some freshly squeezed orange juice and... well, just had a good good day!
Our friend Jarmo visited, we had a dinner together and.. we received a present from him! This game!

Love your photos! :)

Jan, 3 Hehe! Karuna chocolates as a present for Xmas :) How I understand you! My friends sent me 8 Kalev chocolate bars (Estonian chocolate) as a present and that was one of the best presents I had for X'mas.
Jan, 5 The drink looks very tasty. What's the recipe?
Jan, 6 Great photo! Is it a tradition to throw X'mas trees from balconies?

Ana ( Mu aasta piltides)
karinga 12 years ago
@cherizza: and I know why! There are not many movies that you can watch over and over again:) Now that we have all trilogy, we might end up watching it again:) Maybe for the next year!

@chibi_butterfly: Thanks you, Im glad you like my daily shots. True, something local from our countries make the day! My friend also sends me Karuna sometimes and Im so glad about it! I have bought Kalev as a souvenir from Estonia for the same friend, by the way! Hehe:)

The recipe for the drink: bols blue curacao liqueur 1cl, banana liqueur 1cl, finlandia vodka 2cl, lemon juice 3cl, ice and lemon lemonade. Tastes great! You can cheat on the lemonade;) I used Sweppes Ginger ale yesterday and it went fine!

No! We threw it out of balcony cos it was easier than drag it all the way down:)

It was very difficult to choose the picture for this day because I like this rose shot a lot as well. Both shots represent me being inside almost all day and reflecting on things. Like, "why am I not happy when I finally get what I want" and such... Answer figured out: " because I dont know what I want!". Scary...

I visited Varamiespalvelu and called Opteam (employment agencies) for work. Nothing yet. So gotta stay home and wait, searching for something else on Internet. I was so tired and down in evenings after my previous work. But Im afraid it might be even more tough to have no work. So dark and wet outside. A perfect surroundings for depression. I guess I will start to craft something. It used to help earlier.

"Prison Break" comes today. Soon. I promised myself to wake up with my boyfriend tomorrow. Strange thing - I feel more tired after waking up at 10am than I felt when waking up at 4.40am. Urgh..

You like Prison Break -- Me too! What a great campy show full of hot guys! I love me some Dominick whatever his name is (he was also in Blade III) and Wentworth Miller is a particular favorite of mine -- perhaps in part because he's biracial like me.

Today was a darling. Not only because Kari spoiled me (yeah, Jissy, you were right about spoiling!) but also because it was sunny and happily easy. We had lunch at Nepalese place, then went to test-drive a car (Kari wants a new one!), which became a little sightseeing trip! We found a cute little old church and cemetary in nearby little town! I started my Finnish language course again and we also went to see Deja Vu! I blew my 24 candles and made a wish. A very good wish, I think.
I havent had a cake with candles for years!! The only one I actually remember was my friend's Laima's surprise party's cake.
Im not a birthday girl, you know..
But it sure is cute to be one time to time:)

Presents! I received a pair of, Im afraid, very expensive lingerie! Havent received anything like that before.. So imagine my surprise and excitement and embarrassment and.. and more:)
And I received a gorgeous necklace which I adore! Mind me, I dont wear jewlry but this one I DEFINITELY will!

Thank you for coming by and your good wishes!

Today was uneventful.. Slept long, spent some time next to PC, went to post office to send few little parcels, bought a present for Kari (his nameday is today), then cleaned a bit at home, Kari came home and we went to shop. Thursdays are our shopping days: we buy food and stuff for all week so that we wouldnt need to go to shop every day. After shopping we started to make food, had a fight, then silently made it up and now watch Lost+Alias.
A day I wouldnt remember at the end of the year without this diary..

All day at home. Again. My weekends seem to be made of it recently. I remember how I was whining about too busy weekends that left no time for home and myself. Well, why am I whining about the free weekend now? Told you - I never know what I want..

Kari is away for all weekend. Now, that would leave me even more space to do whatever I want, right? Right, but instead I feel sad and unhappy to be here alone. Im afraid to be alone at home in the evening, actually. And I am afraid to sleep in that huge bed all alone too. I admit it.

So, I did basically nothing today except some cleaning.. And I could have done so much!!
There is "Dr. No" on TV but I have to admit, and probably make a bunch of people here angry, that old Bonds bore me.. I guess I might continue to watch the first season of "Friends" instead.

The "Juicing and Smoothies" book in the photo is my recent buy. We bought a lot of fruit to try out the recipes. The smoothy in the picture is made of pear, mint and lemon juice. Very interesting! I had strawberry, banana and orange in the morning. Which tasted great!
Samrag 12 years ago
Looks anything but jummy;)

What are you afraid of.... ? And I sooo do agree... old Bonds bore me to tears. 10 min tops and then my mind starts drifting. I kinda only enjoy Bond movies for 1, 2, 3 viewing... after that... boring boring boring.

It did good to me even if Im still a bit unhappy to be alone at home:) I had a plan to clean up our little cloakroom but alas!, it's still a mess! Anyway, I had some more jummy smoothies, did laundry, finished watching the second CD of the first "Friends" season and chatted with my friend for about 4 hours on Skype. Not a bad day after all!

Im watching "Prison Break" and feeling angry again that it keeps me so tense! How can those prison guards be so unfair!

Im starting to have Russian classes with a tutor tomorrow. Tatjana is a Russian teacher living in FIN and she will help me to brush my grammar and learn to write.

I feel lost today, have been wondering a lot what I want to do with my life. It was easier to be a student. I knew I have to graduate and was working towards it. Didnt think much about "what's after?". And now I am there in that "after" and dont know which way to go.

Prepared noodles with mushroom sauce, used the recipe my friend Ling gave me few years ago. That's what Im eating in the picture. Just after shower. My hair is a mess. Dont really like this shot but somehow it carries my today's mood.

On my way to the language course. The building in front is the one where I attend it.

Hämeenlinna, the town I live, is not really beautiful. Im used to towns with gorgeous oldtowns like in Baltic states. But I like that there is a lot of water around here and it's really nice to walk in town when the night falls. There is a lot of lights. Especially in winter when the trees are decorated with lights. And it's safe!

Today was a good day. I had things to do and enjoyed it.
Had the first class with my Russian teacher, it went 2 hours instead of 1. I found it challenging. Because I speak and read well in russian, my teacher was expecting me to get the writing thing easily but no.. It needs time and now I have a bunch of homeworks to practice. It's nice to talk to Tatjana because she kinda reminds me of home. We still have quite a lot of russian speakers in the capital area.

On the finnish language course we spoke a lot and shared some personal experience. Most of the students are much older that me and we dont share the same language so we somehow havent gotten close but it's nice to know that I belong to that little community.

Plan to work a lot on my russian homeworks tomorrow. And catch up with my finnish coursebook. There should be more days like today in my life:)

I guess my days are playing a game with me: one good, one bad, then good again, then bad... Kari would call it a ballance, I say it's teasing! :)

So, today was bad. Didnt do what I planned to do, was down, had some kind of argue with Kari, went to sleep sad and empty.

The picture represents the good part of the bad day: a surprise package from my friend Ernesta! There is a playing Mozart box, sea shell (I adore them!), a necklace (I suspect it's handmade by her!), Monet cubes (I like Monet!), "The Little Prince" and a letter. Oh, and a magnet from Vilnius! It's not in the pic cause I put it on the fridge straight away!

Another good thing of a bad day: I called my mom and we talked a lot.

in Russia we say that life is like a zebra)) : white stripe, black stripe, white stripe, black stripe, but at the end it's ass anyway

it's always great to receive things you like as present, especially if it's a surprise)

а зачем учишь русский? для удовольствия?

@Alina: Your saying made me laugh! And feel better.. :)
I learn to write Russian so that next time you ask me in Russian I would be able to answer in Russian! Now I wouldnt be able to write it... I speak and read but I feel it is not complete somehow before I can write too.
+ knowing Russian is a big plus for me here in Finland and it might help to find a better job.

Alina was right - days like zebra... Today was good again. It was almost the same like yesterday but it was good! Why is that? Again, I started a day with a great almost! surprise package full of sweets and other treats from Portugal. Mmmmmm!!! Swapping is fun, maybe I should change my mind about having a break.. ;)

Again, I didnt do what I wanted to do. But this didnt make my day a bad today! Funny. We have a saying in Lithuania, explaining a bad day: "atsikele ne ta koja", which literary means "got off the bed with the wrong leg". Unfortunately, I dont remember which leg reached the floor yesterday or today.. Gotta hope the good day leg will make the first step tomorrow!! :)

Actually, I suspect that the good mood came from being at ease with myself... Just enjoying being here and now. Not feeling a terrible not responsible person for sitting at home and wasting his time without a job.

I visited post and then went shopping. Bought soft envelopes for post packages, few presents for my dear ones, tried a lot of clothes but didnt buy anything for myself. Shops have a lot of winter discounts now..

We went to watch "Rocky Balboa" in the evening. It was better than I expected! Reminded of childhood when I used to watch Rocky movies with my parents. I should watch them all again because I can barely remember what happened.

The late, great James Brown used to sing about getting "up on the good foot". Maybe you need that song for your morning alarm--Gotta get up on the good foot! Heeeyyyyy!

SamRag came by to you!

Great selfportraits - both of them last few days. You are younger then I had imagined! Nice carpet there in your hallway.

The evening shot of your town is wonderful.

And are you getting swap presents everyday - this must cost a fortune :)

Saturday at Anu's place watching after the kids! They were so interested into the pc!

I forced myself to work with my Russian. Now I know what writing mistakes I make most often! Otherwise I think I was doing quite well! Pround and glad! :)

Spent the evening and half of the night chatting with my friend Elisabeth on Skype! That was awesome, we had so many things to catch up on, so many memories to share..

Sunday at home. We watched "The King" with Gael Garcia Bernal. I chose the movie basically for the actor, because I had good opinion about him from "Dot the i". And I wasnt dissapointed this time as well. Only it was quite difficult to understand what drove the character to do what he did.. And the end seemed to come too fast and too unclear.

We had dinner at that new kebab place in town (nothing special, dirty tables - that's bad!)

Going to work on my Russian now.
