Follow the Light...

Our age is one of isolation. Perhaps this is a natural reaction to being stuffed in cities, our attentions constantly diverted by the media-rich, technological cocoon in which we live. It is easy to forget – your neighbor, the man behind the ticket counter, the woman at work, the last airport you were in. How can we possibly remember what is not in front of us every day?

Today we do not allow ourselves to forget. Today we do not allow time to triumph. We record. We use the tools of this modern age capture Light, to record one instant of a million, billion possibilities, there to be found, there to be recorded, there to be remembered. This is a great gift. We are the inheritors of a great tradition. Now, finally, here, we can capture the Truth...exciting, isn't it...? :)

Light = Truth

Hello :)
le 1er janvier is a strange day for that: in Paris when you go to the balcony drunk...there is always some neightbors doing the same...so you can call each others, and do stupid things like singing, showing your sex or throwing used champagne caps :)

Yes, it's always an interesting evening! To the right of this building is a hotel. Last night one of the rooms was occupied by an...shall we say amourous couple...about every 30 minutes the lights would go out...lol...

Bonne Année à tous!!!
James KEZMAN Photo PRO 11 years ago
Hmmm...well we, photographers, need the Light...it doesn't need to be bright, nor even white, but it must be...

BUT for the couple in the hotel room...I have no doubt they were discovering all sorts of things...lol!

Thank you for the comment!

...before the storm.

Twenty minutes later, it was pouring down rain. This is out of my office window. It's been an odd 24-hours -- I had some bad news on my father's health and we had all sorts of weird problems at work. Coming off of a good New Year's Eve celebration, it's a bit of a yo-yo...

I love metro shots...especially of Paris...there is this sort of vibe, everyone moving and going some place, bad smells, loud noises, reading 20 minutes, or listening to an mp3 player...those of us who hop up right before our stop and know exactly what door to get out of in front of our exit and others who wait, cool and relaxed, to exit...ahhh...I love the metro.
alert chicken [deleted] 11 years ago
oh yeah... I second that.
James KEZMAN Photo PRO 11 years ago
@sarah -- yes...I think it is all of the potential energy of transit compressed into such a small space...and I like the RER stations -- the quais are sooo long and there is that weird haze in the air...

@urbandiscount -- I third that!
PutYourFlareOn PRO Posted 11 years ago. Edited by PutYourFlareOn (member) 11 years ago
When I ride the RER, I try to remember where each exit is so I know which wagon to get on to avoid the long quai walk. But somteimes it's cool to go to the end and the quai and have the entire wagon to yourself.

I like walking the length of the quais -- so many different people...sizes, shapes, faces, clothes...
glucozze 11 years ago
lol that's funny bcz i do that too, going to the good lenght of quai for avoiding walking to a long exit....but in fact move before or after going to the train...we still have to walk for the exit :)

Everybody sing: "Good-day, Sun-shine, Good-day, Sun-shine"

Good Day Sunshine

It's another quixotic weather day today in the Ile de France. One minute like above, the next windy, rainy & cold.

I was hesitant to sign on to this project, but find myself really enjoying the exercise. Oddly, doing this alone seems a bit self-agrandising, but as a group, it is much more, well, social :)
Loca.... 11 years ago
I agree with you, I'm loving this project and the things people say about our stuff.

Here in Portugal, people often say that we are blessed by the weather. I'm starting to agree with them, now most of our days are still bright and sunny, just a bit cold but nothing like the rest of the Europe, and we do get nice clear skys with great clouds. Love yours.
See you tomorrow.
