NicoleB - Share the weirdness with me

NicoleB, aka Rainmountain - My cave

Here we go, like the 365 days project isn't enough already ;)
But I like the idea, so let's see what we can do here :)

Maybe a bit about me for the ones that don't know me, which might be most of you.
I'm a 34 year old married German woman (still a girl on most days), right now living in Hungary, but usually traveling so much around that even my best friend and my Mom sometimes loose track.
I started taking pictures around three years ago, it helps me remember places and situations. I have a very bad memory ;)
Don't expect any masterpieces.
I've learned a bit since on flickr (and hopelessly addicted since almost two years), but that doesn't mean that I use that all the time :P

Day one - 1st of January 2007

So, enough of that. Here's my first day. A picture for a project that I like and that's one social project that makes sense to me.
Check it out, if you want to make a change. It's real easy :)

The Dhaka project - still rolling!

Day 2, January 2nd 2007

Here I go again with the Dhaka project. There will be something else in between, not only this, promise ;)
But it is something I have put a heart in.
This is also day Nr. 50 for my 365 days project.
Jeeze, time flies!

You can make a difference

News update on the Dhaka project

Some 100-150 people will move from the Slums to the school and living area on January 14th.
The school starts in mid January.
The group has now over 850 members.
We have raised around 150,- Dollars so far.
I got a list from Louis today with things that are still urgently needed.

Here's a short list:

Volunteers
children clothes
asian style adult clothes
flip flops
school bags
stationary
school uniforms
school shoes
sweaters
blankets
bed sheets
vaccinations
Research in how to run things in Dhaka
Make a sponsorship form for the program
Hygienic products (soap, toothbrushes, toothpaste, etc.)
towels

Make small booklets for:
How to use a phone
Hygienics (mentioned by Maria before)
-brushing teeth
- prevention of germs
etc.

Here's the list of work in progress

If you see anything on that list that you could tribute, please let me know.
There will be an update soon in regards to a mailing address and handling.
Maybe you even find people in your area and can send a package together with a few people.

Just imagine, if each one of us would only send one small thing, it would already help.

If you have sent Maria an email or one to the email address on the project page and she has not answered yet, that's because of her crazy work schedule as a stewardess. Please be patient.

If you have no idea what I'm talking about, here's where it started for me and here's an update from yesterday :)

Thank you for your time and effort.
Remember: One person can make a difference!

Day Nr. 3, January 3rd 2007

Enough is enough!

Enough is enough!

OK.
Enough is enough.
This is my highest weight ever.
I did not want to make any new years resolutions, but this is one, I for sure follow through.
15 Kilos need to go and I need to get back in shape.
I will start running again and reduce the chocolate and Chips intake.
I'll keep you posted with the results ;)
Anyone out there that wants to join me and make a Fitness blog with me at wordpress.com?
I need somebody to kick my butt ;)!

Day 4, January 4th 2007

I spare you the nude version ;)

It doesn't look so bad here, but trust me, I got scared when lifting that shirt and before that I had to lay down on the bed to close those pants :S

But I really did it.
We got up a bit late today (6.30 a.m.), usually we are already awake that time. I had one cup of coffee to wake up and read a bit.
I went back upstairs in our bedroom and did my little stretching program, some easy sit ups and some easy weights and push ups against the wall for my arms. All not more than 10 minutes, but it’s a start.
After that warm up, I got in my shoes, took the dogs and went for an easy 10 minute run.
Took a shower, washed my hair and had a cereal and more coffee. Too much of that again, but I’m drinking more water too ;)

Activity:
little stretching
easy sit ups (30)
easy weights and push ups against the wall for my arms
(altogether about 10 minutes)
easy 10 minute run
resting on the Couch - uh, wrong category ;)

Food:
1 Banana with 1/2 cup sugar free oat and dried fruit cereal with 1/2 cup of low fat milk
2 pieces of dark bred, one with Tuna salad and one with fresh cheese
1/2 cucumber

Beverage:
4 cups of coffee
1,5 L water
too much red vine

Current weight: 79 Kilos / 173.8 pounds (but that doesn’t really mean anything on that inaccurate scale ;))
14 Kilos / 30.8 pounds to go

If anyone wants to join the Fitnessclub 2007 just register an account for free at wordpress.com and let me know your user name. I will add you as an Admin on this blog and you can kick ass with us :)
It's fun - we have already 5 members, but are a tad lazy still ;)

Just the two of us

This should have been a picture with a beautiful sunset in the back, but due to too much beer that didn't work out. So I decided to add my sister ;)
Have a good weekend out there, we will take it easy.

So here is the today's lesson then :
Too much beers kills the sunsets.
Maybe more people on flickr should drink beer.
We still got to find a similar solution for cats and kids.

:D, but if you start killing cats and kids, especially when drunk, that gets you in REAL trouble ;)

@sunshinecity
I never really made any resolution before, because of that reason.
And I don't like Diets - the word just makes me sick ;)
I did one time the Atkins diet for 4 weeks. It helped and worked, but that's not for me.
I love my Pasta, potatoes and rice :)

Just join our club and do it without a diet, just some more fitness :P

@leesure
Riding a bike in Hungary is like committing suicide ;)
Not a good idea.
But the running started quite well and I love it. It's just harder when you weigh more :P
Walking is quite easy too, the dogs love it and I need to do it anyway. I just wish for some real winter.
The paths over here are plain mud holes and walking there almost impossible ;)

@jelenie
Just join the party at the blog.
It's not much going on there yet, but I'm sure people will grasp the idea of joined efforts soon ;)

I tried my tripod in my tiny bathroom for the first time. Oh well, I will get better at it. Another 300 something days left to keep trying ;)
I went for a short run this morning, besides that we are just having a lazy weekend, so not much to talk about.

You can work your way through 365 days of self portraiture and start your way with feet, hands or whatever until you make it to your face and maybe even a nude version ;)

Day 8, Monday, January 8th 2007

Monday. Again another Monday. Why do there have to be Mondays?
I'm not working, I'm a housewife, traveling with my hubby from country to country since years now and have worked shifts and weekends some years before that.
But there's something about Mondays.
Yack. Can we skip that day?

I started my day with coffee and some studying. I am trying to get through the grammar part of my TEFL certificate (Teaching English as a foreign language) and I have to be finished with the whole thing some time in February. Sigh. I'm so lazy.
And their big mistake was to put the grammar module as the second part of the whole thing. I hate grammar :(
But I'm almost done. Only 20 something pages online left :(

Update:
Yeah, I'm done with the online grammar part and am at the last part of the book I have to work through.
I already have the results.
I scored 90% - Yippie :D!

This week you will see a little project I'll do for the 365 days group.
The seven sins.

Lust

For the 7 sins project on 365 days.
6 more to come this week.

I wasn't sure if I go on Pride (Vanity) or Lust on this one. But I already have an idea for Pride, so I think, this one fits Lust.
What do you think?

He'll leave in about two weeks and I'm not very happy about this, as you can guess.
But it's about the only possibility right now.
He's preparing all the paperwork now and has to do all the medical tests before real employment, but it would make me wonder, if he would fail that.
I'll bury myself in various studies and maybe find some kids around here that need some help with their English in school (or German). Or I sell photographs and postcards to tourists. Or go crazy.
Something like that :/

Uh, first, Philippe, sorry! I read the rules but must have missed that part.
Shall I leave it there or replace it? I have other ones from yesterday :)

Thanks for your support and cheering up.

Yes, I'll stay strong for him. We went to something close to this when he was in Kuwait when the war started and I was sitting in Germany. This will be a bit easier in a way, I know him better now. And he knows better how to use a Computer, cough, cough ;)
I even might end up with some pictures for once ;)

@Ravi
I hope, you'll get the curve. Life seems to be tough for you right now as well. No worry with the gym. We are not exactly running away over there :P

@Ilight
Thanks. There's enough for me to do. Find a house over here, visit my family and fiends for longer than a day for the first time in years, well, study, etc.
Learning Hungarian will be a nice challenge as well. It looks like we gonna really stay here and not switch ideas for a house in various countries, so I will take up that challenge :)
(Hubby's always thinking of different locations and makes me give up all the planning, or I would go nuts. So I just waited for him to finally settle for at least a small house over here as a base, instead of paying rent for another 5 years ;)

I will tell, him, sunshine, thanks :)!

How I managed to take this long to see your diary, I don't know, but here I am. Great stuff here and I've gone to check out 365, and I've now made yyou a contact on my photostream --

i'm sorry to hear about your husband -- I don't have any good words for you, I don't come from a military family -- It must be very difficult for you -- I'm glad that you have interesting things to keep your days occupied and I pray for your husband's (and everyone's) safety.

So -- for now -- so glad to make your acquaintance and I look forward to getting to know much more about you -- I already relate with the dieting!

We went for a nice, long walk in sunshiny weather again today.
It really does feel like Spring time already.
We saw a rabbit, a deer and a pheasant. Nature is so beautiful over here.
I jokingly told King (our Labrador) to go and get the rabbit, because I wanted to make a Video of the little one (JoJo, our Dachshund) and the yelping sounds she makes when she runs after him and tries to catch up with him. Well, there really was a rabbit and I captured a nice hunt :)
They didn't get the rabbit, so don't worry ;)
I will see, how long it will take to upload it one YouTube. It's my first try with that. I've used Vimeo before.
I will link it when I manage to get it up.

My flickr uploadr is not cooperating, I wonder why. I need to restart this damn computer, I guess. Had a scary blue screen a few times as well. Can't find any infection though :/

This one's my little family during today's walk :)

My family :)

Thanks, Bella Gaia :)
I'm not really dieting, just try to do more sports and eat less crap :)

I'm glad, that he's not in the military. He's going over there as a mechanic and can come back home any time he wants (which would make it necessary to break the contract, but oh well ;)

About the montage, if you got another one, it's good... if not, keep it for this time.

As soon as my PC cooperates again, I'll replace it.

I finally got around installing greasemonkey (didn't take that long after all), but the first two page loads it went haywire. Seems to work now though :)

And here's the promised Hunt the rabbit video

The quality is not too great, cause it's the from my camera and I had to reduce the size from 16 MB to 5 and even that took 20 minutes to upload ;)

I'm looking for the right scripts right now.
Can't find the ones, I want :/

We went to "our" fishing lake and enjoyed a beautiful, sunshiny day and lots of beer :)
After they closed down we went with the owner to a close by Pizzeria and had some good Schnitzels.
It's always fun. He doesn't speak either English or German and we don't speak Hungarian, but we still manage to communicate.

Why I love our Lab :)

We just came back from our daily walk and we were talking about hubby and Iraq and about me telling people that he goes.
He doesn't want me to tell anyone on flickr. He's afraid that somebody would come after me and do something to me, because of that.
Quite paranoid :(
But I don't want to argue with him, so what the hell shall I do.
I'm ready to ask Philippe to delete this whole diary, because it doesn't make sense to keep it up.
On the other hand, I don't really want to, because there are quite some people here that understand what I'll go through in the next half year.
For now, I'll keep the pictures I post private and don't link from flickr over here.
I'll decide this week, what I'll do :/

it would be a shame to see you go...
I know some people get quite paranoid about "online predators"... but then again, it's not like you revealed where you live or anything...

You can always keep it a bit more private, but still post pics and talk about yourself....

hope you stay..

I don't think anyone's gonna come after you ;) We are just all sorts of people and make different choices and have different problems and I hope that here we are of the sorts that we respect that. But I'll definately come after you if you leave... muuuhahahahaha!!

! I used to read palms (and cups and tarot and blahblahblah), but the only thing I remember is that it looks like she has a very artistic hand and a more intricate/complicated personality type :/ But then again, I can just tell from her diary :D

About your photo - is that mistletoe growing on another tree or just a witches nest?

Don't go!

Hehe, I know, but hubby's sometimes a bit paranoid ;)

I'm not going to leave. It was just a bit of a weird feeling first. But I would go nuts in the next few months if I couldn't write anything anywhere. And get feedback other than from my Mom and my best friend ;)

As to the palm reading, I have a book somewhere, I think. It actually is quite interesting.
But as with Tarot, I'm WAY too lazy to learn all that's necessary about it ;)

It's huge mistletoes growing on oak trees.
Haven't seen any witches lately ;)
