We had low turnout in New Hope but still had a great time and found some interesting things to shoot. Check the pool to see what you missed.

On Feb 9, we are meeting up at the Pawlings Farm in Valley Forge Park around noon. Here is a preview:

Walnut Hill Barn

Pawlings Mansion Ruins

Pawlings Farm is located off Pawlings Road near St. Gabriel's. Let me know if you need more specific directions. There is a sign on the road.

From there, we can head over to Phoenixville and check out whatever is along the canal/river there. We can also grab a brew at Molly Maguires:)

I also promised Pat a stop at The Knitting Basket, because we can never have too much yarn!

Hope to see you there.

Well I would love to attend if the wife and kids let me off the leash.

Sounds great - I'm going to try to make it!

I hope I can make it. I've been to this park, it's a good place to start and the Canal is really nice too.

I look forward to seeing some of you there.

Hi, Loretta. I would like to attend as well. I have alot of interesting shots of the Walnut Hill (Pawling/Wetherill) Farm, but you can never see everything at, The canal locks also sound fantastic. I love the Schuylkill Navigation canal (and Union and Delaware), so I am always up for that. I hope to see you all there. There is a small parking area below the barn on the right side of the gravel driveway so there should be ample space for a dozen vehicles.

1) there are alot of DEEP potholes going in the Walnut Hill access road, so be careful. It is a gravel road.

2) If it snows between now and then, there is no winter maintenance on this area of the park, so the driveway would be treacherous, if not unusable, so lets hope for good weather!

I forgot that I joined this group and have been still looking for a photo meetup group. Is there an email list or anything like that for notes on when meetups will happen? (Granted, maybe I just need to stop being lazy and just keep checking back here!)

I am interested in this next one as long as the weather is good. Could you help me out and email me direction via my Flickr mail? I'm coming from Kennett Square area.

Really interested in this next meetup. Wish I would have checked back sooner for the last one.

I also joined this group a while back and didnt see any activity so I didnt bother checking it for a while. I would like to attend next weekend. My sister may be interested too.

I think I too may make the meet up as well, though I'll be coming up before sunrise to take advantage of the good light. Not quite sure where I'll be starting off from yet...have to give it some thought. Looking forward to next weekend. Until then....

Would love to attend, but have to work. Anyone interested in getting together on sunday the 10th? Any Sunday meets upcoming?
bashful rings [deleted] 10 years ago
Looks like we're going to have a nice group. If this warming trend continues it should be nice weather.

As Dennis mentioned, the road down to the house is pitiful. Therefore I suggest we all meet up at Mill Grove and car pool down to the farm. It's about a mile down the road.

Sunday does not work for me due to other committments but who knows for the future.

Steve, saw your shots of Pennhurst. I think you need to show us around there.

The weather is looking good for this weekend; mostly sunny, highs in the mid 40's on Saturday. I will meet up with the group at the Farm around noon. My wife and I are looking forward to seeing everyone there.

PS...anyone wearing Flickr badges? lol
sssmithphoto 10 years ago
Well that was my first time at Pennhurst. In fact I think I would have to call a friend who lives in Phoenixville to get directions but if that is something people want to do I guess we could. The only other thing is it wouldnt be a good idea to take a bunch of cars back there. Apparently there is an abandoned beer factory across the water from Pennhurst as well.

I just drove down the road today (Wed) and they have put stones on the road so it isn't too bad to drive on. There is a parking lot where a dozen cars can easily fit.

Sounds like an interesting place. Unfortunately, I have a conflict that day. Maybe next time...
nostalgic box [deleted] 10 years ago
I'll make it on Saturday and am looking forward to it. Are we meeting at the farm or Mill Grove? I'm thinking since the farm road is better we can just meet there. See you at noon Saturday.

I don't think I will have a problem finding this place but if someone doesn't mind giving me their cell in case I get lost that would be appreciated. You can send it through flickr mail or to

It sounds like the road is going to be fine and is the weather so I will see you at the parking lot at the barn/farm area.
Anyone have the latitude/longitude of the parking lot or some directions?
nostalgic box [deleted] 10 years ago
I was looking this up on google maps tonight. Here is the link. You can get directions from there.

I won't be able to make it. :( Enjoy, guys!

Thank you all for an enjoyable outting today.
I have only downloaded the pics from one of my cameras (the S2 shooting infrareds).

Out of my Infrareds, this was my favorite I think...
IR - Pawlings Farm in Valley Forge Park

Ok an update, I just ran all my pics through lightroom, deleted 200 of the 250 that didnt make the grade.
Heres one of the group photos:

My wife and I had a wonderful day today. I was great to meet up with others who enjoy the same hobby we do. We look forward to seeing all the photos everyone took. Here is the Beginning of the 47 best I posted on my photostream tonight. Enjoy!

Eastern PA Photo Meetup at Lock 60
Hey everyone! Really glad to have had the pleasure of meeting you all yesterday...even if you did leave me high and dry at Pawlings! Nice :-) LOL

I look forward to getting together again well.

I had a great time yesterday and it was good to meet the people I've met on flickr. We certainly got some good shots yesterday. I'm looking forward to the next time we can get together.
nils9three 10 years ago
Great to meet up with everyone. Under normal circumstances I might not have been taking photos yesterday - a gray day with the threat of rain. As always, though, you can always get some good shots in almost any conditions. Thanks to Maria for organizing and to the rest of you for motivating me to get out there and take some shots.

Definitely a lot of fun. I'm looking forward to the next one. My sister will probably come next time. I was surprised to see so many Nikons. Seems like there is always a lot of Canons.

Oh btw I happened to go by the Ritz store in King of Prussia and they actually had the remotes. So if anybody is looking for a remote they had four left after I bought mine.

Here's a link to a nice site about the Walnut Hill Farm:
