It's not exactly eastern PA, but right across the river from it. The Lambertville Elementery School that caught on fire some decades ago, and has been left to rot. Apparently it's haunted too, which makes it all the better. I'm thinking of going there this weekend. Hopefully around noon if i can drag my ass out of bed before the sun starts to set. And hopefully there is sun at some point this weekend.

FYI, there's talk over at the 'Bucks County Meet up' group about a possible New Hope meet this Sunday...sound like a possible combo??

I'm actually OK if there is no sun, as long as it doesn't rain. I feel like re-visiting one of the lancaster nature trails, so overcast skys are best for those types of shots.

Oh fuck. There's a Bucks County Meet-up group? I thought I searched everywhere before making my own meet-up group.

Damn it all.

But yeah, we could do a combo. But daylight is so limited..

Leesure, I replied to you in the other topic about the Q-Mart. Just let me know when's good for you about that.

Ed, yeah, I know what you mean. But when I'm shooting abandoned derelict buildings, I need all the light pouring in since I rely on natural light for that.

I think the BC meet up group is newer than your group.

i'm totally in. can someone give me a ride? i can meet you at a septa station in the suburbs somewhere, most likely.
harmonious sink [deleted] 12 years ago
Ah ha! So they copied it from me! Those bloody bastards. hehe Actually, my group covers more ground than theirs, so fuck 'em!

Um yeah..

Sure, I can give you a lift, Miss Plum. There's a station in Lansdale, 15-20 minutes south of me. It might actually be the Colmar station. I gotta run, so look it up. I'm not even sure which route I'd be taking, from Quakertown to Lambertville. When that's figured out, we can figure out where it's best to pick you up.

Ooo Ooo this sounds like a GREAT place to shoot.

What time?
harmonious sink [deleted] 12 years ago
I'd actually like to get there quite a bit before noon if I can (as I stated at the top) to take advantage of the early morning light. Around 9. 10 is fine, but is kinda pushing it. Either Saturday or Sunday. I think all those interested in attending should state when is best for them so we can come up with a set time and day. I'm definitely going to try to make it by 9, though. Also, it was recommended to me to park down the road, on another road actually, and to walk over to the school, as cops tend to drive by to make sure no cars are parked there.

Can't make Saturday, but is anyone still in for Norristown on Sunday? Of course we did not go because it was way too rainy.
Miss Plum 12 years ago
ugh, i don't think i can reasonably make it there in time for you to get to lambertville for morning light. sorry, charlie.

I might be able to do Norristown this Sunday.

Add me to the Norristown list for Sunday but I'm a little if-fy...
helveticaneue PRO 12 years ago
oh man I wanna do both but I have to finish a huge project this weekend and I was already on hoping for Sunday Norristowning as my escape. Dust and I ... possibly andipantz were on board for Sunday, still am.

OK, so we'll have two meet-ups this weekend. Everyone pick their favorite county!

For Montco: 12:30 pm Sunday at the Whitehall Road entrance to the Farm Park (see last week's discussion for directions or PM me), and later moving to downtown Norristown, the cemetery, or both.

I am hoping for a Peddler's Village/New Hope thing when all the holiday-type stuff is in full swing, even though I am sure it is all up already.

Email me if anybody is up for Lancaster county on Saturday or Sunday.

Saturday I might go visit Calumet Photo in philly to drool over their studio equipment.
Philly Stan PRO 12 years ago
go to Calumet with low expectations...not that great. Place you should check out is www.nycv.com/ in Southampton, PA.
Ed Roper 12 years ago
Wowaweewa, I heard of NYCV before but never bothered to check em out. THanks for reminding me. Awesomeness

could somebody post a link to a map of where the school is?
harmonious sink [deleted] 12 years ago
It's on Washington Street, so I was told. Not sure of exact address (probably doesn't have one anymore) Like I said above, it's best to park on another road and walking over to the school.

Copy and pasted from a message a fellow Flickrite sent me:

it's on washington st. in lambertville
i would park in town somewhere around the intersection of north franklin and york st and hike up washington st. there isn't much on washington st. so your car will stick out like a sore thumb if you park there.

By the way, New York Camera is a great store. Their film is a bit pricey though, but I have the feeling I'm the only one who shoots film here.. $8 or something for one silly roll of 3200 speed B&W And that place is 45 minutes from me. :( There used to be one right on 309 where I live, but NO, they had to go and close down. >:(

Well, if everyone else is doing Norristown on Sunday, guess I'll be doing the school alone on Saturday. Or.. is Saturday good for you Ruth?

Not sure if I'll have any gas money left over for Sunday, or film. I forgot to ask the lab tech for more film tonight. Damn it all. I have two 35mm B&W rolls of 125 speed, one 35mm colour roll of 400 speed, and 4 rolls of B&W 3200 speed 120mm for my medium format cameras, but those are only 6-12 shots depending which camera I use. I'll see what I have left over after Lambertville.. And it looks like I'll be eating bananas and granola bars all day, as my wallet's wearing thin on me..
