Plus:-

If anyone can explain to me the changes to Pro user costs or the range of "offers", I would welcome an explanation.

Thanks

- If you paid for one year Pro, then your Pro membership will renew automatically and you can continue to pay the old fee $24.95 and avoid adverts. No change in pro-user cost.

Or you can apply to convert to the generous 1TB free account now, and be refunded for the months of Pro you have outstanding. You will suffer adverts in eternity - this could be a grim future.

Free accounts can be upgraded to ad-free account on payment of $49.99 p.a.

If you let your Pro membership run it's course, but do not renew your subscription it will automatically revert to a free account.

Thanks for the link to the forum Mark. Not sure I'd ever have found it otherwise. And thanks for the explanation John. At this point I've got to say, not a fan of the changes :(

If you are interested in the Flickr staff's response to the response they have had to the recent changes, go to this new thread:-

Hm... clearly, I'm not the only one who hates it. It takes forever to load, there's no overview over anything any more, the sets and collections have been buried, and the images are so loud you can't see any of them properly.
YEUCH.
I have found a new home. Will stay with Flickr till 26 by 26 has finished as I am loving the challenge. New home is www.ipernity.com. Based in France, it is run by 7 - yes seven! staff. Really impressed with the way they are handling the huge influx of flickr refugees. As well as images, you can upload documents to share and have a blog. All your eggs in one basket - I have paid my subs for two years. Hope to see some of you there!

I've set up an account with Ipernity too >> Merrimayhem. I am also staying with Flickr until the 26 challenges have been completed but not sure what I will do about flickr after that. Some of the groups I'm in (Utata for example) probably can't be replicated over there and, at this stage anyway, I don't want to lose contact with them so I'm leaving my flickr account as is for now.

Eileen (Vistna):

What about all the images that are on flickr, do you leave them there or delete, or take them with you, or what? I do hate chopping and changing :0((
And isn't it great they way they dump this stuff on people, and then announce, in injured tones that they want constructive criticism as opposed to simply "change it back". Change it back sounds good to me!
LornaMcHardy:

IP has an easy app that you can use to migrate all your images. But I have decided to only upload my favorites to IP and leave the flickr ones here - after all it isn't gong to cost me anything now! Like Meredith, I have no idea what to do once this 26 by 26 (and our T189) challenges are over. But I really don't see flickr going back to the old version.

Postcard from Ipernity

I have packed a parachute (and a spare) and have landed in Ipernity. You cannot move here for expat Flickr folk. Weather is sunny and beer is cheap.
I have not had a lot of time to set things up yet but just set up base camp for the moment to do some initial exploration and getting to meet the natives. I have not forked out on "club" membership yet and will work things through with 26 by 26 and SPNC, but after that I will decide if I am going to emigrate on a permanent basis. I have just filled in my visa application
I am still SO angry with Flickr and their appalling attitude to their "customers". I do not feel like staying on the "Dark side" when more responsive companies exist.
Just going for a dip in the pool.

P.S. I am signed in the hotel at Ipernity as Mark W. Russell, if any of you guys decide to pop over.
