Hi guys,

I'm really coveting some velvet charcoal curtains from Anthopologie and they would look perfect on my large front living room window. However, my dining room window (which also faces the road) is smaller - too small for two panels. Do you think I need to have matching curtains facing the road? I could have one panel and sweep it to one side but I'm not a big fan of this look. Any suggestions? I NEED THESE CURTAINS!

Forgive my ignorance, but are they not lined? I would only ever have thought of the look of curtains from inside.

I think this depends on how it looks from the outside. I have the same problem having two of the same windows on the front of my house and I bought some dark navy velvet curtains from Ikea that drape all romantic in my living room. But in the den, I threw up some craptacular black linen ones from Ikea and I hate that room. But from the outside, people don't see the difference. I rarely have them shut, and when I do, it's usually nighttime and they look the same. If they were super different, like one white and the other dark, that would be more obvious. Which ones at Anthro have caught your eye? I love their curtains but can never choose just one!

Well! I think I just fell in love! Those are beautiful! Did I really mention my velvet IKEA curtains in the same post? I feel sheepish now. Those are stunning. What colour are your walls? Those are awesome. I like the yellow too. I know, I'm not helping at all with your dilemma, but I stand by my assertion that unlike shades, these aren't going to be closed during the day will they? Unless it's really hot and you're blocking out sun? So I don't think it's an issue. But I'm not that advanced in design, just a hack.
