Sexy Swedish Babe Eye Protection

Hello. Jallen Dragonhide checking in.

Today April 12, the day I happen to start my photo diary, is my 35th birthday. Blah.

I'm not sure what to say at the moment- I never do at first in "intro" topics.

So, Hi.

*edit*

Sometimes it's best to don your peril sensitive goggles and just charge full speed!!

*UPDATE!* I will be wrapping this diary up in a day or so, but all my NEW 2008 posts are here:

That's one scary self-portrait!

All this talk of qat reminds me of Paul Bowles novels.

Dragonhide 11 years ago
Yeah.. I've been having computer issues at home... and you know- Cobbler's Children Wear No Shoes... :-) I just don't want to work some more on computers when I get home, so it took me a while...

I lost the Canon "solutions disk" that was a vital part of my workflow, and Canon doesn't let you download replacement for the licensed software you ALREADY OWN... but want you to pay $20 and wait 2 weeks or so for them to mail it to you. I of course reinstalled windows on my machine without making sure I had the disk handy. Argh.

I finally got some time couple nights ago to sit down and hack at it, and I found a way to make the "upgrade files" actually install files..

So I'm back in business.

:)

Updates will be coming soon!

I have missed out on so much here in the last month -- fun catching up, but too late to chime in with witty retorts.... ya know, timing is everything! Great pix, great conversation and great company as always in your diary. Would love to see more of your gallery opening (which I imagine I will if I go over to your stream.... which i shall!!!!)
Dragonhide 11 years ago
Hi Bella!!! It's nice to see you among us!

Timing is almost everything- I'm sometimes known to "get" a joke after a delay and laugh at the most cornball stuff... ;-)

Come and stop by anytime.

I hope you are well- and all ready to once again conquer the world!
ebilflindas 11 years ago
I think I asked you this on someone else's diary, Tim: do you upload directly from your camera? And do you use Canon's ZoomBrowser?
Dragonhide Posted 11 years ago. Edited by Dragonhide (member) 11 years ago
Ebil- it depends. :) At home, yeah, Canon's ZoomBrowser is how I read my memory cards thru a reader. The most recent version is real nice, and has all kinds of custom setting I've been using since I got the camera.

At the office, I just do a folder to folder copy of the files and edit in photoshop... only good in a pinch.

On my laptop I've started using DigiCam on Linux and connecting direct to the camera and it's pretty cool.

But for serious work, the setup at home works best for me-- I can easily shoot 400-500 photos in a single session.

ZoomBrowser is very nice what you can do to customize the filenames while it's being copied and such.

I use Adobe Bridge and Photoshop CS2 for all my postprocessing- unless I'm on the road with laptop- Picasa works swell for me :)
Dragonhide 11 years ago
Trying to catch up... My daily photo taking has been spotty at best.

Nov 30

I discovered the time-stamp function in my celphone.. Now I can do the cheesy snapshot timestamp! heh

That annoying white splotch is my phone clip.. It's in the frame of the shot to some degree in almost all my shots. Not a very good design of a celphone protective skin/clip :P

Spinning

One of the cool things my Mom taught my wife and I... how to spin wool. Pictured is a spinning wheel in motion.

I remember as a young boy helping my Mom hand card raw wool and work out all the dirt and debris out of the wool, and rearrange the fibers into a single flowing direction to prepare for washing, dying, and then spinning.

My Mom liked to use natural materials to dye the wool with. I remember digging up bloodroot with my brother and bringing our Mom the roots that she'd then use to dye the wool brownish-orange.

My Mom was a textile artist, and she had several successful textile exhibit in Art, Craft and other shows. I would help my Mom demonstrate the craft during the exhibit while my Mom would talk to all the visitors. I learned to drop-spin with a spindle that you would spin in mid-air and use gravity to pull and spin the carded wool into yarn.

Merche just recently got back into spinning. I like watching her spin... We both can feel my Mom's spirit with us.

A very special little envelope came in yesterday. Indeed, very lucky me.

To the lovely lady in middle of the left-most moo card. Thank you so much.

ps: the white splotch isn't my camera phone- It's a corner of the big moo card sneaking into the frame. I just can't win. haha

My Nanna used to have a spinning wheel. She never did it when we were there though. I think she was worried we'd get our fingers chopped off in it or something.

On holidays we used to spend hours watching dodgy daytime television and I'd pull the wool off the ball for her as she crotched rugs.

Good times {:->
friuduric 11 years ago
Ooo, the knitter in me would like to know, what does Merche do with the yarn after she spins it???

The Web surfer in me would like to know, why did you have to get my head spinning with your animated focus work?????

Yeah yeah, I did try to stick my finger in the spinning wheel and got thracked in the head for it, lalalian :) Good times, indeed!

Imperatrix- usually she crochets throws out of them. Merche hasn't had the opportunity to learn how to do other things yet. I never did learn how to do any of that, I just helped process and spin wool.

SCORE!!!

Canon 30D test

I scored me a Canon 30D for the weekend! I wish it was mine... the ease of use and the ability to quickly access all the advanced functions I like to use, but is a Pain In The Ass to access on the 350D(Rebel XT) really makes a big difference. I figured out how to access the stuff I wanted in 5 minutes it took me a few months to finally get around to finding on the 350D :P Plus the quality of the opticals.

Just in time for today's modeling session I will be attending in St. Louis tonight. The theme is "Lovers n' Linen". There will be two women modeling nude on a large bed entwirled with white sheets.

I will be working once again with one of my favorite models, the professional athlete. (See here and here )

Stay tuned... :)

(ps: Don't worry, Ian is not actually trying to stab himself... He just loves to watch TV with his toy pirate cutlass sword.)
Dragonhide 11 years ago
PS: the picture was from yesterday (Dec 7) the text is for today (Dec 8), the photoshoot is tonight.... Ok, I'll stop playing with the time traveling phone booth now.

Waiting patiently for the new pics!!!
Dragonhide 11 years ago
All together I took 895 photos over 5 gigabytes. So yeah, it'll tale me a while to sort through all these RAW images.. (!!)

Once again, I'm SORE! It really is hard work to photograph models.. 1000 squats, 500 lunges, etc etc over about 3 hours.

I'll have at least couple to post sometime today.. I was up until 4 am just downloading off the memory cards and giving them a quick once-over. I now think it was a mistake to go with a new camera that I don't yet know intimately. Oh well, it was a lot of fun!

Rob- I am not sure she is technically a professional athlete, but I do know she is always competing in all sorts of stuff and participates in all sorts of charity endurance events. I was more or less describing her magnificent physique.

Itiner- Heavens no, not seppuku! haha

Awesome new icon, alex :)

... a bit of a rant

COME ON Wal-Mat.......

Wikipedia:
It is the world's largest public corporation by revenue, according to the 2007 Fortune Global 500
You should check out the wikipedia article for more shocking statistics

First of all.. you exploit all those third world (and even first world) countries that in turn, exploit their workers who mass produce the goods you sell--- and then you target the very low income folks and through shrewd product placement and marketing manage to get them to pay more than they really can afford...

And you tell me that it's OK for the R to go unrepaired for what, 3 months (and counting) now? Come on... show some respect for the local community.. Quit putting us all out of business so that you're the only player left in town.

Godspeed Bob Jacobsen, Missouri Fire Marshal.

firemarshal-funeral-20071211_IMG_1585 copy

Bob has investigated over 2,500 fires during his career as a fire marshal during his tenure.

He retired just a few months before he died. He had cancer.

His wife is the accountant of the city hall downstairs. My company is located on the top floor of the city hall. We're particularly close in weird ways. We have many ties to the emergency services- some of us in the company have family members involved in ambulance, fire fighting, 911 Central dispatch services.

They are all heroes in their own ways.

You will be missed, Bob.

This deal was set up for his funeral proceeding- the funeral line of cars passed under this flag hung up by ladder trucks for the occasion.

Another one for the Frugality Group

If you don't like what your car is telling you- it is easily solved by sticking a piece of black electric tape over the warning light. My Dad solved his "Air Bag WARNING" problem by doing exactly that.

I'm driving his 1988 Ford Taurus station wagon because my wife's SUV is dead. Bad battery. I have since replaced the bad battery. It's OK now. This happened in the past. ;)

I am not a fan of the SUV outside the country, but where I live they are a MUST. City people who have SUVs and never get them dirty or even switch to 4x4... I have nothing nice to say about them. They make the necessary vehicles for the country people so extra orbital expensive for no good reason other than style.

Screw Style.. It's about the U- UTILITY to us!

(ends rant)

Oh- the Frugality Group.. won't you please join and particpate? Good stuff.

Plotting world dominion through clever hacks....

heh, possibly one of the most revealing photo of me... me in my messy environment! Basements never get the attention they deserve... It's all fancy schmacy upstairs, but down here? It'd give any decluttering perfectionist a heart attack! (Someone check on sexy Swedish babe, make sure she's OK!)

The photo on the screen on the left is from the nude figure study. I'm probably commenting on some hottie on flickr on the right. ;-)

The monitor on top is only used when I'm fiddling with Flight Simulator X- it is my in-flight computer & GPS. I hope one day to get my pilot's license so I can legally fly my Dad's airplane.
