Sexy Swedish Babe Eye Protection

Hello. Jallen Dragonhide checking in.

Today April 12, the day I happen to start my photo diary, is my 35th birthday. Blah.

I'm not sure what to say at the moment- I never do at first in "intro" topics.

So, Hi.

Sometimes it's best to don your peril sensitive goggles and just charge full speed!!

*UPDATE!* I will be wrapping this diary up in a day or so, but all my NEW 2008 posts are here:

Dig the shot of Señor Calacas!

And that car shot on the 2nd?! Awesome! Is that one of those old Dodge Shadows? A faux-blower? Brilliant! "I think it blew off..." Brillianter! I wonder if he has plans for some DIY spinners...
Dragonhide 11 years ago
*shaking pelvis for Alex*

Emil- I thought it was a Ford Escort, but you're right it could be an older dodge shadow.. I'll take a closer look next time :) The whole car is DIY, it's awesome. I often see him at the store with blood red eyes just standing there with his rasta hat watching people go by. :) Oh yes, as "rice burner" as his car looks, he probably drives 10-15 below the speed limit!

I didn't get to take pictures of it, but he has homemade spoilers too.. and on the sides of the wing- he attached a pair of chrome cars about 6 inches long. Pretty freaking cool the stuff he comes up with! :)

Oh I forgot to point out- the paint is painted on with a brush... not an airbrush or anything.. real paintbrush. gives it a cool texture!

I don't know how you manage to fight IT fires, mount a photography/pornography exhibition and do farmwork all at the same time. Quite the multitasker! And look good while you're doing it. Wow.

Recursive Art Gallery- Pic of a Pic

I'm bringing a little light to brighten up things... Freaking fluorescent lights!!!

Opening is tomorrow.

Had a lot of fun! Llywelyn's Pub is within walking distance... I had the BEST lamb stew I've had for years... Lots of Guinness, India Pale Ale, Black & Tan, and a wee dram of Bushmill's whisky.

Good times.
seems like really good stuff has been going on lately for you

Dragonhide 11 years ago
So I'm lame. I'm still reeling a bit from the "art high" crash.. LOL

Updating wwith a summary in lieu of a actual MDPD post:

the gallery opening was great fun!

My brother Arthur, his wife and my (83 year old) Dad all made the two hour drive and were there! Arthur actually came in all black AND a beret! LOL

The beret which later during the night ended up on Dad... Dad in his
suit and the beret- he looked like the perfect artist!

Dad even toasted the "bare bottom that bought us all together" last
night when we went out to eat at Llewellyn's Pub (An AWESOME UK pub nearby).

One of the models (& her husband and kids) from the body paint figure study came to the gallery. Alas, it wasn't her bottom on display
unfortunately... :) But it was really cool she came to visit-- she is
also an artist herself- a painter. It was nice to meet her as a person
this time. Boy does she look different with clothes on... HA! Anyway,
she is the whole reason I got into the gallery. She's the one that
emailed me that fateful day and encouraged me to submit my work.

Dad disappeared a while, I presume to flirt with YOUNG 60-something year old women at the gallery, but we found him eventually.

Merche and I went clubbing with Jeremy after the opening & dinner, for a while.. but we were so pooped, we cut him loose to go play in his
world of single men :)

In all it was great fun.

Sunday I went back to pick up my prints and hopefully find that at
least one is sold... (None did.) It was kind of disorganized on the
sales front. I know what to expect next time to better promote my
stuff, regardless of how the gallery is structured.

I'm not exactly into it to sell prints- BUT I definitely would like to
at least break even with all the expenses of printing and travel. :)

I was so exhausted on Saturday I took a rare nap- 2 hours, and then in bed from 9-9 into the next day! It's the end-of-a-BIG-project feeling that when you finish something major, you're completely spend.

But alas, we had a new driveway gravel put down, and Dad helped spread it with the tractor and Merche and I shoveled and raked the rest into place...

Busy busy busy for all of us! But I wanted to take the time to say BOO! :)
friuduric 11 years ago
Yay! Glad the experience turned out really well. That's great that your family all came to see, too.

And finishing a night with a few Guinnesses (Guinnii?) ... heaven!

Dragonhide 11 years ago
Imperatrix- Yeah it was a big surprise.. I didn't figure any one but my wife would come (with me) and maybe a pal.. Then they all showed up. That was special.

Sunni- Awww thanks, it would have been extra special having a special guest all the dang way from Rome just for a lil' ol' gallery showing! haha

Ebil- She DID look SO different... When one is naked, one is stripped down to their bare selves with no telltale signs of what they're like in the real world. But with clothes, I could tell right away she's one stylish woman really into the artistic world... It was cool. We oddly enough communicated just fine with my wife barely needing to interpret. It was cool.

Lalaian- oh it was, it really was! I hope to it again soon! :)

All a flitter after the show...glad it was a success...no sale - its the "sub prime loan" thing again - let's blame it on that !!

"Sorry, I didn't recognise you with your clothes on". I say that a lot to guests I meet in the evening in a pub or taverna, after they have been tanning topless all day or all week at our beach, and they DO look so different dressed up, made up etc.

Yeah, Right, Dad.......

Yea, right, Dad....

Today was the end of the photo gallery showing, and we HAD to be there between 3-5 to pick up our prints... (I never did find out the "or else" part, but after all the trouble printing them I wasn't taking chances!)

So, my wife and I decided to make a family outing out of it.. so we went to the zoo. and hung out for a while seeing the animals..

"DAD! Take pictures of the Gorillas!! They are SO COOL!"

"OK Ian, I will!"

*Start taking pictures of him.*

That's when he made this face.... LOL

God I have fallen so terribly behind.... My life has been so consumed recently by work. Something I strive throughout my life to not happen.

Nothing is more boring than a guy that talks shop all the time. (Thanks Alex! For putting up with me during this dullard moment!)

The good news though is that.... I finally finished the project that has stole me away from my family, my friends, and even my company for a whole month and a half!

And to celebrate the moment- I caught Simon_K's Man-Flu and have been whinny sick since,,, UGH so yesterday all I did was sleep all day, wake up, and post-process some pictures and then go to bed.

Today was a bit better... No more fires, just putting out the remaining smoldering embers... in the next two days, I'll probably be all done for real with the little stuff. YAY freaking YAY

So yesterday I celebrated in bed, and when not sleeping I post-processed stuff like this www.flickr.com/photos/dragonhide/2043839827/ I particularly like that one.

I'll start updating for real soon...... promise. :)

I'm too horribly behind.. so starting fresh with Glory's Challenge!

With Apologizes to Those With Coulrophobia

Two items in this picture. The jester mask is from a neighbor in my first year college dorm. He left this behind in my room while in a chemically enhanced haze. This mask has became my de facto .... "Challenging Persona" where I weave photographic tales of scary stuff and places I don't want to be in.

The hat is more mundane. It was left behind by my brother in my house, when he got divorced and moved out of the house my Dad and I build together (But I then moved away to Minnesota for a while),,, It is his favorite horseback riding hat. Too bad he's such a pin-head and it doesn't fit me at all.
That is sooooooo cool.
RobW_ PRO Posted 11 years ago. Edited by RobW_ (member) 11 years ago
That's great Tim, amazing how that mask looks like the real you! (I thought it was make-up at first).

Since this is my first visit for a week or so, may I say that is such a happy family picture on Nov 9, one can see they are so proud of you, and a wonderful portrait of Ian. So colourful the one you pointed us to.

And now, back to Glory's mischievous stream, to see who else came to the party.

TOTALLY cool!! what you need to complete your scary theme is an "acquired" trenchcoat. then you can go skulking about on the streets at night with your trippy jester's mask and bro's old panama hat. ...i can just see the manholes steaming with creepy fog now...
sunshinecity 11 years ago
god tha film was hideously freaky! lol
Dragonhide 11 years ago
I agree with everybody that this mask is just freaking freaky! I think Ebil naled the reason-- the teeth.. . I never noticed that, but without the teeth, it wouldn't be so freaky....

Rushing through.. having fun with company visting from Columbus, OH-- long time Deaf friends of mine... Oh it's so good to be signing in my natural language with my own peers! :)

Ah that's why you're up so late, and of course Thanksgiving, which I was ignorant of, before being reminded by Glory. (One is really isolated on an island). Happy Thanksgiving.

I hope you took your mask off before greeting your friends. You can keep your hat on ;-)
sunshinecity 11 years ago
"You can leave your hat on.." Hehehe made me think of Joe cocker's song...

"Oh it's so good to be signing in my natural language with my own peers" LMAO... that's kinda funny, yet sweet!
Dragonhide 11 years ago
You betcha Alex... It's no different than suppose, you being around Americans that only know a little Italian (assuming you don't know English) for the majority of the time... While you can talk well enough with these Americans that know Italian, it's no comparison at all when you bump into a native speaker. :)

Nov 22: Thanksgiving Day

In America, every third Thursday of November, we pause for a day of appreciation. We pause to reflect on the bonds we have in life- our family, our friends, the Mother Earth...

All good stuff- Especially this 21 pound Turkey that my brother smoked for about 7 hours in a grill with freshly peeled hickory bark...
Dragonhide Posted 11 years ago. Edited by Dragonhide (member) 11 years ago
Nov 23: Black Friday

The day after Thanksgiving is often referred to as "Black Friday"... it's when the worst comes out of people, and they become vicious combative shoppers... flooding the shopping malls in search for the best deals for the Holidays.. Often resorting to physical violence in their quest.

We opted to stay home and give the kids a ride on Blue, the Welsh pony.

Ponies seem to have the effect of making certain girls laugh with glee... as you can see :)

The delightful little girl would be the daughter of my friends that came to visit us from Ohio- Juz and Dingo (nick names of course..) We all lived together in a house in Washington DC- it was great seeing them for the weekend! Juz was my girlfriend for a couple years... A while after we broke up, I noticed Dingo and Juz were eyeing one other, so I played match-maker and set them up.... 16 years ago. :-)

Then my mother-in-law came to visit....

No no no nono JUST KIDDING! I couldn't resist! I love my mother-in-law and all her quirks!

We went to the Zoo.. it was a lot nicer today than it was yesterday when we went riding.. It was below freezing all day , but today it was just a little chilly. Good times.

From the link:
According to the zoo, Cinder is otherwise a normal, healthy chimpanzee and, unlike humans, is not faced with the psychological and social challenges the disease presents.
Umm...Aren't there plenty of people who go thru all sorts of pain to be hairless? Imagine the Brazilian waxers who'd be out of a job...!

Love to hear, Tim, that you had some old friends over. The one Deaf guy I know in Bakersfield has been in the hospital (had to be taken all the way down to L.A.). See, he has a cochlear implant (a whole different can o' worms, I know), and somehow developed a really bad infection. Last I heard he was doing better (read: able to sit up and read the paper).

Ok, sorry to bring the mood down!

Mmm...that turkey looks and sounds delicious! I say you keep remodeling and make room for all of us for next year!
