Sexy Swedish Babe Eye Protection

Hello. Jallen Dragonhide checking in.

Today April 12, the day I happen to start my photo diary, is my 35th birthday. Blah.

I'm not sure what to say at the moment- I never do at first in "intro" topics.

So, Hi.

*edit*

Sometimes it's best to don your peril sensitive goggles and just charge full speed!!

*UPDATE!* I will be wrapping this diary up in a day or so, but all my NEW 2008 posts are here:

CG- That's the master plan, friend... :)

Thanks Itiner :)

Lala- are you sure you are not in a circus act? You sure know your stuff. :) Actually, this is a glass orb not a contact juggling ball- BUT I do have 3 plexiglass orbs that can be juggled or used as contact juggling balls. I tried so hard to learn how.. It's sooo hard!!! That guy that was in the Movie "Labyrinth"- have you seen his stuff lately? LIGHTYEARS ahead of what was in the movie!

ebil calls it as he sees it.. too true.. hehe

impera- Somehow I doubt it would start.. but I'll check when I go back! I couldn't get the door open though.. heh

Tim, if you ever see how dodgy my tricks are, you will know that I'm definitely not in a circus act. I've just been around a lot of dudes who are into that stuff.

One guy I met was an ah-maaaaazing contact juggler and he had a sexy French accent to go with it. I never knew the word "juggler" could be so alluring until I heard him say it...

Actually, Ludo could have talked about rebuilding car engines and I would have sat there for hours, hanging off his every word... haa haa!!! {:->

No, I haven't seen anything else of the Labyrinth guy since that movie. I might check him out.

Oct 27 no photo YET.. but wanted to write this in the diary!

I'm jittery and nervous as hell!! I am on my way to St. Louis to a figure study photoshoot. Three maybe four ladies will be nude and getting painted. This is my first time going out to meet a bunch of strangers and take picture of them naked..

But... If I wanna continue to improve- I have to push myself way past my comfort levels.. no pain no gain!

I'm not uncomfortable with the naked part- I'm just anxious about the communication barriers. I even forgot a notepad I can use to write in to communicate.. lol so must stop on the way somewhere and get one :)

The event organizer and I exchanged email- she has a Deaf sister, and while her signing is so rusty and almost nonexistent, she is very comfortable with non-verbal communication she tells me.... So that's a good deal for me :) All the models are dancers also, and experience shows me it's always easy to communicate with people who are comfortable already with physical expressions. (Like Italians and Spanish people using their hands while talking! LOL)

This is something I've wanted to do for many years, and I finally found an opportunity!

I'm so nervous- that my wife helped me pick out my outfit I'm gonna be wearing.. LOL She's awesome- very supportive. :)

Anyway. I'm at a coffee shop on their wireless... I've got a few hours to kill so I'm going out on the City.. :)

A wonderful chance ! I would concentrate on the artist's interpretation of the nudes. That would be an interesting twist...and finding all the good angles on all the curves...(and probably there will be men as models as well?)...how about that for making uncomfortable...

I will update this soon. But truthfully I am so overwhelmed right now. Tonight- I accomplished something that I have been talking and dreaming about doing for the past 20 years. I've always had a special interest in the human figure as an art form.

In lieu of a diary photo post (which I still plan to catch up on) I humbly submit this link where I am beginning to slowly post my photos (I AM doing it from dial-up you know....) You can then advance from that point on. I might have one or two more up my sleeve before I must force myself to go to bed. :)

It was also the first time I ran out of places to store pictures.

Today on the way I stopped by the store and ALMOST bought a 2 GB CF Card.. then told myself "Oh, you never ever fill ALL your CF cards up...."

Egads. Big mistake. Not only did I fill all of them up, and snapped away all the 35mm film I had with me with my Pentax, I was reduced to wrapping the shoot up with my CameraPHONE!! How pitiful... hahaha

Good times. More coming, but I'm done for tonight- A man's got to sleep! (2:30 am my time)

Itiner- I've shot nudes before.. that wasn't what bothered me too much. It was shooing strangers. I've always shot people that I knew- especially ones that got naked in front of me! This was a whole new dimension- I never met any of these folks before- not even on the Internet. It was a good experience.

Jissy- thank you ,and we do. :) I showed her all my shots this morning and she helped me pick the good ones.. I am SO overwhelmed by the sheer amount of shots I took... I just went to work, shooting shooting and shooting until I ran out of everything.... pitiful. :) The lighting conditions were quite challenging so it took many many shots to get the particular look I wanted, and then on to the next- rinse and repeat.

LaMaqui-- Thank you very much. :) I hope you get to move beyond your dial-up-like speed and get your broadband working like it should. I understand- still on 33.6 kbps dialup at home. :(

Thanks RobW!

This is one of the two favorites (so far) from the night's shoot.

Nuclear Fallout

I've already written plenty of thoughts and stuff about this day. Here's finally a picture to go with it.

Um, maybe it is not good to post nude shots in this group? Considering a lot of us update our MDPD via work... Holler, and I'll replace it with something more abstract. I don't want any of my buddies here getting into trouble.

There were some requirements of this shoot- No faces... (I found out today couple of these models have jealous boyfriend/husbands... yuk) and the photographer must put their copyright on whatever they post to public.

I'm glad Helen isn't jealous about models. (Though she can be otherwise.)
She called me a few months ago and asked, "Where are you?"
"In a room with a naked lady," I replied.
"Is she a model?""
"Yes."
"Oh, OK."

(The model's husband was in the kitchen making cookies, by the way.)

BIG NEWS

My head is spinning

I'm so dizzy... I think I'm gonna get sick.. lol From obscurity to an art gallery in literally 3 days.

This morning, one of the models emailed me and forwarded a link to this show encouraging me to submit.> I half-heartedly did. couple hours later I got an acceptance letter. They want me to exhibit three of my photos.

OMG

*panics*

Where to print, where to frame, how what who where??!!

*barfs*

Dragonhide says:

Hahahaha Lalaian- is it true then? All my musician friends- they'd wink and nudge eachother and say "drummer" and they'll break up laughing like maniacs So I guess it must be true.. hahahaha I used to play the snare drum in 6th grade band... just 'cause I could. I guess that says a lot about me.. huh? :)

Robw- no, it was a very professional getup- the event organizer helped the model with the paint, us photographers did own own thing.

One guy did get kicked out- he came in with only a cel-phone camera and kept getting into everybody's faces, and it was deemed too "pervy" especially when he argued with the models when they asked him to stop.

DUDE, these ladies are on the floor naked... That demands respect- even IF they are wrong, just quit it and don't argue.

Geez, some people.

Other than that brief hiccup, it was a professional and comfortable experience.

Ok, this is an old photo. But I scanned in a 8x10 print and worked on it for quite a while- so this is my photo of the day.

Aura of Authority

I took this in 1992. It was with my 35mm film camera while I was in second year of University studies as a Photography major.

This represents the beginning of when I started taking my photography very seriously. It lasted for about 3 more years then the costs of photography nearly bankrupted me. I guess my problem was I was always doing this for art's sake (and sometimes just documenting my surrounding and my life). I had to abandon it so I could survive. My photography went virtually dormant until I discovered Flickr back in 2005.

I've said it many times on flickr- It really does suck to have to pay for each picture you take. It discourages experimenting.

This photo tho- This was on the very last photo of the 36 exposure roll. I had this in my mind, but I couldn't do it for myself, so I preset the camera settings and went and got my roomate to man the shutter release cord while I got behind her with a mini-maglite flashlight with the lens taken off and traced it around her. That is the only light in a completely dark room.

Done in one take. I have no other attempts recorded. And it's the one shot that I'm most proud of after all these years. I did everything by hand.. develop the film, worked the enlarger and then developed the prints with voodoo chemicals.

So it makes the cut to include in to the Art Gallery showing next Friday.

Last week he cut a waste basket in half and glued it on top of the hood so it would look like an engine scoop. All looks of course. This week its gone. I assume it blew off. :)

JallenDragonhide, master pornographist.

That's my disgusted & frustrated face. Driving along the highway going from one place to another.

I'm trying to get 11x17's professionally printed by Thursday for the Gallery I got invited to exhibit my work.

So, I thought I would try locally with some of the well equipped photo labs.

Silly me.

I live in an ultra-conservative area.

The owner of the lab first turned to my Apocalypse picture, and said "Woah nice picture!... wow.." then flipped to Aura of Authority & Pollock Buttock pictures and went "No nonononono!! We can't do this!!!!!" and ejected the cdrom so fast it just about flew across the room.

Yet another casualty of war of "Art vs Porn" Even tho my stuff CLEARLY isn't porn. at all.

So I'm having to FTP it blind to St. Louis to a printer that I found that assured me "Fine Art Nudes" are OK. Still hate to have to do this- they're two hours drive away for me :P

Guess I'm paying the price for fine country livin'.. ..

I wasn't too surprised.. I didn't really think of it at the time. But my wife, was very surprised and felt very insulted.. She was just about to let loose the Spanish Dogs of War on the guy. It was sort of funny. My wife's from Madrid.. where at primetime they'd have a special on dancing and stuff.. and the gals would happen to be topless and in thongs perhaps. I'm talking broadcast TV, not cable or satellite... plain ol' rabbit ears TV

Nobody notices that as being "weird" except my Dad and I who dropped what we were doing to stare at the TV while visiting the in-laws in Spain... hahahahahaha

It sure is different here. When the guy said "nononono!!" Merche honestly had no idea what was going on... My little 7 year old boy was running around admiring all the prints exhibited throughout the facility.. I wonder what the hell he thinks of us now... HAHA!

Monday, I came in to work and found our office server DEAD. :( Power surge took out the hard disk drive with all our precious company data! Our most recent backup being a couple days old (with TONS happening over two days).. so I decided to do a disk recovery-- with great success!! Took a couple days to clone the bad disk to the new disk, and then correct the errors on the new disk... Nothing lost! Now if only the other crazy things would be fixed like this...

Then I should gain my life back, and start shooting stuff I want to shoot, go backpacking, and stalking my favorite flickr people. ;-)

I so enjoyed playing with that site Lala. I didn't see any girls to paint, however. Apart from that, is there any way of saving one's masterpiece?

Hey Tim, I wish you well with your exhibition, and have a great time in town with the missus. Just don't do anything to get yourselves arrested!

Hi Rob. I think you just have to do a "print screen" and past it into your favourite photo processing software or something.

A rare look at me taking a brief break from hard farm work.

My hair's like that cause I been wearing a chain-saw hardhat. Head can't breathe gets all stuffy.

Still SO MUCH fence work and tree cleanup yet to do to clean up all the damages from the July 2006 storms and then the Nov-Dec 2006 Ice Storms. Ugh.

It's been more than a year, but you won't believe how extensive the damages were...
