This is my attempt to take a picture every day of 2007 which should represent my day in some way. I'm a Politics student at Hull University (UK) and im in my final year so 2007 will include some big events for me - graduation, moving to a new city and flat, starting a new job etc. So hopefully this will project will be a good account of an intersting year!!

Anyway enough talking here's the first picture.

Alphabet Magnets

Don't know what happened to yestrdays picture, I thought I'd taken quite a few pictures but when I went to post one they'd all gone :( Never mind!! Anyway today I headed back home for the Easter weekend (or at least part of it) and I can't wait for tomorrow because I get to see my big sister and my niece who I haven't seen since Christmas.

We have a thing with magnets in my family, the fridge is covered with them. Most of them are from various holidays, but these are my favourite because of the colours.

HAPPY EASTER!!! Hope everyone had a nice extra long weekend. Mine was spent mostly on the move with a quick stop at home and then onto London for a meeting with my new boss. At home I got to see my favourite (albeit my only) niece and my big sister which was great. It was only a few hours but I really enjoy the time I get to spend with them :)

Anyway after a few hours at home I had to get a train to London to meet with the guy who's giving me a job after I graduate. More on that tomorrow

Well believe it or not, but from July this year this is where i'm going to be working!!!! I've been offered a great job working for an MP and today I went to speak with them about the job (unfortunately the only day we could meet). So it was a really good day, I found out my salary and other contract details like holidays and stuff. I can't wait to start the job and be back in London (which is my favourite city in the world)!!!!

I'm pretty much a chocoholic which makes Easter one of my favourite times of year!! But annoyingly I didn't get any easter eggs this year (!), I guess people think i'm too old to given them these days. But I don't think thats the case so today I treated myself to an egg and have been enjoying it all day :) Also helped me concentrate on my dissertation, which fingers crossed will be finsihed tomorrow!!

Church, Paull (Outside Hull)

While I should have been concentrating on my dissertation, I got dragged out on a trip with some friends to a local museum which by far has to be the naffest museum i've ever been to :) I thought it was some sort of local castle or something but it turned out to be a 'fort' from the second world war and was full of different exhibitions from loads of different times os made no real sense and the displays were really cheap. But it was a change of scenery, so wasn't too bad. This is the nice little church that was by the museum which was probably the highlight of the trip.

13th April (Friday the 13th)

Me!

I don't if it was because today was Friday the 13th, but it was one of those days today, everything went wrong!! I woke up to find out that our shower is once again leaking, meaning there was a puddle of water on the table downstairs!! Annoyingly this has been happening pretty much constantly since I moved into my current student house. Despite numerous attempts to fix it by the 'cowboys' who installed it over the summer it always leaks again a few weeks later.

Then I went to do my work for the Professor to find out they'd messed something up which meant I couldn't do anything today!! But, never mind I thought I've been paid today which should be good, except it wasnt, the finance department in their infinent wisdom decided to pay me a lot less than I should have been. So not one of the best days of the week. But on the plus side I handed in my dissertation and accepted my offer for Birkebeck.

Wooden Roses

Not done much today, I went into town had a look around, bought a few things and just sort fo wandered. In the centre some guy was selling these wooden roses that he had carved and I thought they were worth taking a picture of.

But just before I left I popped into Jessops (large chain of camera shops) as I wanted to look at the digital slr's. Since I've got my job and found out my salary I've known that I was going to buy my first SLR as soon as I starting earning and this had meant I keep looking at them in shops. But today when I went into the shop I found out they do a good finance deal and I can buy the camera now and not pay for it for 12 months, by when I will be earning and can easily afford it. So I decided that TOMORROW I'M BUYING MY CAMERA!!!!!!! I can't wait to get it. I'm buying a Canon EOS 400D and I can't wait to play with it, im like a giddy kid before christmas :) But annoyingly the shop doesn't open until 11, so i'll just have to wait.

Anyway as a celebration for finishing our dissertations me and my housemates are going out for a celebreation tonight.

Today has to be one of my favourite days so far this year :) First thind this morning I went down to the camera shop and bought my brand new Canon EOS 400D and I'm so pleased with it. I've been playing with it all day and i've had so much fun. Although I really need to read the manual as its much more complicated than my old camera. Playing with Water

Today was a bit of a boring day, spent most of the day working for the Professor and in lectures for the first time after Easter. But I got to have a bit of a play with my camera (althouh not enough) and try a few things out. Then tonight a group of me and my friends had a sort of party to celebrate the end of dissertations (today was dissertation hand in day), which was really fun.

Although at the ends the girls decided they wanted to paint one of the guys nails and I was the one they ended up ganging up on!!!! However I managed to resist them, until the last minute when they managed to get a little bit on my nails, and even on my elbow!!

I've not been very productive at all today. Even though i've been working all day I don't seem to have got much done. I'm supposed to be starting my essays, but I seem to be increasingly focusing on the work i'm doing for one of my professors which is starting to annoy me. When I was given the job it was implied it would be short term and would only last for a few days it seems to be going on for ages :( I'm really concerned if I carry on with the job it will have an impacton my work, which I can't really afford in my final year. So despite the fact I could do with the money I think i'm going to have to quit at the end of the week.....oh well.

Been sat at a desk most of the day working on my essays and this ornament has been staring at me all the time, so I had to take a picture of it.

My New Mug

I struggled for inspiration today, so in the end just took a picture of my new starbucks mug. I've been thinking alot about things that are about to change in my life and moving on. This morning it hit me that I only had about seven weeks left at Hull Uni. I've spent 3 out of the last 4 years here and its really strange to think i'll soon be leaving. I'm looking forward to leaving, new horizons and all that, but i'll also miss it and when I leave all my friends will be dispersed around the country!!! This sort of feeling was then reinforced when my mum called to tell me that her and my dad were redecorating my room. She went through everything in my room and asked if I wanted to keep it or not. It feels like the room is no longer 'my' room and will just become the guest room, which even though I know its not really the case, just made me think.

Anyway I also did what I've been wanting to do for a while, I quit!! Don't think the Professor was too pleased but he understood my reasons for leaving.

Nica

Do you ever have one of those days where despite the best intentions you get nothing done!! I was determined to get some work done on my essays today, but apart from reading a couple of journal articles I got nothing done :( I think in a way its partly due to the heat, I really hate the hot weather and I find it hard to work so today that was the problem. So I suppose that means i'll just have to work harder tomorrow.

The picture is of my Chinese housemate Nica. She's really nice and is constantly happy and always smiling. The reason she's smiling today is because she got an essay back from her tutor and she got a really good mark!!

Another productive day today. Spent most of the day working on my essays in some way, and then went out for a decent meal in the evening. In a way it was a sort of a celebration with my housemates as two of them had some good news over the last few days. One has been asked by the Politics Department to continue her studies by working towards a PhD (!) and they are submtting her for a generous scholarship. This was completely out of the blue, but she is so pleased that the staff think so much of her. There's no guarantee that she'll get the funding, but she's got as good a chance as anyone else.

My other housemates good news was that he found out this morning he's got an interview next month at Buckingham Palace!!!!! Now the chances of him getting the job are probably not too bad, but I mean its the Palace, just getting an interview is an achievement!!

The New Statesman

I'm fed up!!! I've spent most of today in a bad mood, for no real reason. A couple of my friends were being really annoying earlier which put me in the bad mood, and then they started to have a go at me for being in a mood!!! It just annoys me when some people are so quick to complain about others, but then fail to (or choose not to) recognise their own problems!!

Anyway i've just got back from the theatre where I saw a political comedy called "The New Statesman", starring the British Comedian Rik Mayall. It's basically about an awful member of parliament whose sole aim is to take over the country. He has no morals, no beliefs and has a deep hatred of the working class. It had good reviews and is based on a succesful TV series from the 80s and being political I assumed it would be pretty good. Unfortunately it wasn't. I mean it was good, and funny in parts, but not what I'd been expecting. But I suppose it didn't help I was in a bad mood :)

I finished my essays, I finished my essays (if you can't tell I'm actually singing this!). I'm so pleased and relieved that I've done with them and got them out of the way. It means that all ive got left to do at Hull now are two classes and then two exams in a few weeks, then I'm done :)

Not a great picture today, but I didn't have any inspiration and so in desperation just stuck my camera out the back door!
