This is my attempt to take a picture every day of 2007 which should represent my day in some way. I'm a Politics student at Hull University (UK) and im in my final year so 2007 will include some big events for me - graduation, moving to a new city and flat, starting a new job etc. So hopefully this will project will be a good account of an intersting year!!

Anyway enough talking here's the first picture.

23rd December

Skiing Snowman

Spent most of the day with my grandparents, though didn't take any pictures because my grandma wasn't feeling too well. But it was really nice to spend the time with them, because they don't travel too much (and certainly not all the way to London) I only get to see them when I travel home (not often enough). While we were there my aunt, uncle and two cousins popped in, which was nice because I haven't seen them since last christmas. Forgot to take a picture for the rest of the day so just took one of the tree before going to bed.

hehe cute little fella...

Yeah I too don't see my grandma enough... and I should really. Sometimes we take certain relatives fro granted, thinking they'll always be there...

24th December - Christmas Eve

Presents under the tree

We have quite a lot of christmas traditions in my family. So today on Christmas eve we had quite a few. The main one is attending the Lunchtime Carol Recital at Bradford Cathedral. Its always a really nice (and very popular) event and today was no different. Always brings back memories! Then of course there's all the preparations for tomorrow - cooking the ham, putting presents under the tree etc. Good day :)

Simon, Merry Christmas! I also thought you should know I haven't been able to take a single Christmas-themed shot the past couple weeks without thinking of you. You OWNED the Christmas pictures this year. I'm guessing it's your favorite (err...favourite) holiday?

25th December 2007 - CHRISTMAS DAY!!

Grandma

So Christmas finally arrived!! And it was a very traditional day (if a little quieter than usual). We started by going to a very short service at the local church. Then all the family that were here this year came back to the house and we all open our presents. Then mid-afternoon its the big Christmas lunch :) Then we play games until people start falling asleep! This year was the quietest Christmas i've ever known, but it was still a really nice day. This is my grandma shortly before she fell asleep!

26th December - Boxing Day

Jennifer

Today was almost a repeat of yesterday. My sister wasn't here yesterday so today was a bit of a second christmas with her, my brother-in-law and niece. My niece is only 5 so she still has the belief in Santa and stuff so we had to work out the reason for presents at two houses. But it was great to see her excitement when opening her presents. The rest of the day was more good food, fun and lots of laughter

Bit Bored Now!!

A very lazy day today, just enjoying being with my family before I travel back to London tomorrow. Gave me a good opportunity to take some decent portraits - which I get to do very rarely in London (at the moment anyway). I'm gonna miss them all when i'm back in the city.

Jray's right... about the diary and Christmas :) My house is pretty nuts about being so christmassy- and I keep promising to take pictures of it... I guess I need to quit hem-hawing and deliver. :) We keep them up until the 3 Kings Day, when the Spaniards actually exchange gifts traditionally. Christmas is all about dinner with my in-laws. Gifts on Christmas have crept in in the recent years, though.

I'm not surprised that gifts have crept in on Christmas day, I can't imagine there are many kids willing to wait for their presents :) And yes you do keep promising christmassy pics, i'll be keeping my eye out :)

IMG_1891.jpg

Spent the morning packing before heading back to London after lunch, It's been a really nice few days back home with all my family, I almost wish I could stay a bit longer, but I've got to be back at work next week.

I'd forgotton how cold my house in London was though. My parents house in Bradford is always really nice and warm, but no matter how long we have the heating on for my house never seems to warm up. So after a nightmarish train journey I finally got home to be welcomed by a freezing house!

Asparagus

Back in London, doing a few jobs around the city. Decided to have a look around Borough Market - one of my favourite London places. There's always really nice food there from all over the world - today I saw Greek, Argentinian, Italian and Cuban. Its also a great place for photography. All the food looked very nice and I ended up leaving with some very nice italian bread/

Speakers Corner - 30/12/07 - Muslim Preacher 2

As well as the 2008 MDPD project i've also decided to do another photo project for 2008. I'm going to try and document a year of Speakers Corner (in Hyde Park London). Now i'm not going to go every week - I haven't got that sort of time, but im gonna try and go at least once a month and capture all the different characters that make the corner so interesting! So I started the project this morning. There were only 3 speakers but I didn't expect much more in the winter.

Then I walked down Oxford Street and braved the january sales!!! That's an experience in its own right, its soooo busy after christmas. I didn't stay long.

31st December - The Last Day

MI6

Well 2007 is now over and with it so is this diary! Its been a pretty good year and quite eventful in its own way! I think doing this has helped develop my photography and I'm hoping to do the same in 2008.

Unfortunately 2007 didn't go out with a bang, it was a bit of a disappointing night. I first went out for a meal with some friends which was great fun. We'd had to go to restaurant quite early because we couldn't get a table any later, which meant that we got to the Embankment at 8.30 - 3 and a half hours before the fireworks. When it started to rain we decided we couldn't be bothered waiting for the fireworks so we headed back to my friends flat in Pimlico. Then just before 12 we headed back out to the river to watch the fireworks from Vauxhall Bridge - big disappointment. All the fireworks went off behind a building so we didn't see much. But to get home we ended up having to walk over 3 miles to get to an open tube station. Nightmare - I didn't get back home until after 2.30.

Anyway hope you all had a great New Year and I look forward to following you all in 2008.

Simon -- Happy to see that you'll be joining in on the fun (? -- sometimes, sometimes consternation) for 2008. Sorry that your celebration was less than festive. Your photography over the year has been fun and once you got your new camera -- WOW, we saw some incredible artwork from you -- Keep up the great work! Can't wait to see what you've got in store for us in '08
