hello hello. meet glory:

1/8/07
poor glory has been defining herself on flickr conversationally since april of last year. without a camera. (poor me!) however ---and gents and dolls, this is a mighty great *however* --- a camera is almost within reach. we're talking two weeks tops, here.

YAY for that. YAY a HUNDRED MILLION TIMES. i am so freaking excited. wee!

so. it's a great time to begin a journal. this way i get to chronical my anticipation from the very beginning to its delightful finish -- complete with what i hope will be awe-inspiring digital images. i dearly love inspiring myself and i look so very cute with my jaw dropped open and my eyes all sparkling and everything. wait and see! xoxo

they say love is blind
speaking of sara, the duck was her latest casualty. the eyes were taken first. this is because sara the blunderdog quite strongly believes that eating the organs of her enemies will make her stronger. cheerful plush toys = the enemy

look Lara!
brooke and i made cupcakes! cookie monster cupcakes that i dedicated to my girl Lara who has a sweet tooth just like yours truly. i personally ate 4. each one was delicious but the longer the cookies were inside the cupcake... the softer the cookie got. it tasted mushy after a while, but still delicious. the soft thing was just something i noticed -- not a reason to pass on the cupcake. no no not by any means

i'm almost caught up on my diary! thank GOD. okay yesterday i was back at work, really buckling down and catching up for real. missing several days of work in a row is so very troublesome. it can't always be avoided, especially in the case of single parents (i'm learning). so .. all you can do is all you can do.

i'd like to take a sec here to say that i've noticed that ads these days are making an effort to be more amusing. exhibit A is the Splenda packet above. i've also snorted in amusement at the wrapper of my straw at Hardee's. ...i'm seeing funny little attempts at humor in *the* weirdest places. it's odd. fun. but odd
Dragonhide 11 years ago
Awwwwwwwwww what a sweet catching up....

First of all, your Dad... Wow. :) My Dad's 17 years older than my late Mom.. and thankfully they stuck it out all the way to the end. My dad with a gal younger than me? That's just kooky. hehe (especially now, he's 82.)

4/23 I SO thought of E.T.!! She's trying to hide!!

anyway, yeah, you're odd.

ebilflindas 11 years ago
Yes, eating the organs of thine enemies grants you their strengths, but only corresponding to the particular organs. In this case, Sara must have wanted the ability to see as the duck sees, or saw, rather. What is it, I wonder, that the duck could see that Sara couldn't?

And yeah, if my Dad hooked up with someone younger than me...I think I'd shoot myself (but I'd miss on purpose!). Or if my Mom was hooked up thusly, I'd have to wonder what he was thinking!!! I mean, sure, I've got a big ol' spot for the older...er... more experienced ladies, but, dude, that's my Mom! (of course my definition of "older" narrows as I, myself, uh...mature.) ;-)

Mmmm...Splenda...Tastes like bleach because it's made with bleach!

What do the Hardee's straw wrappers say? (We got's no Hardee's this o' the Pecos.)
drab chicken [deleted] 11 years ago
i have to assume the duck saw the world in color. i'll have to snag a straw wrapper and photograph it for you. maybe it's burger king ... now that i think about it. either way, the next time i crave salt i'll show ya.

one year my dad dated a friend of mine. how it began was shortly before my 23rd birthday he asked me for her number and said he wanted it for personal reasons. i thought he was planning a party for me (god what a goober i was) so i got her permission to do it and then called him back with it. imagine my surprise when she began her story with "so i was giving your dad head and then...."

AS IF ANYTHING AFTER THAT COULD *POSSIBLY* BE MORE OF A PUNCHLINE

I'm fine with it. My mom's boyfriend, rest both their souls, was younger than me. Somehow it didn't gross me out. most likely because it all occurred after i was an adult (duh, thankfully) But no friends.... doesn't he /she know the code. that's worse than a girlfriend hooking up with someone you've been with before.

Come To Rocky Flats
i've been reading again. there's this book that i keep hearing about called The Secret and it is driving me freaking BATTY as i was telling my best friend, the lovely miss Lola. i've been hearing about The Secret for friggin weeks. it's discussed on the radio and on tv and by folks standing in line at the market.

days ago, a mom sitting beside me during a dance class we were at, had it in her lap. she turned to me and asked if i was gonna read it? i said no, i was going to read The Nyphos of Rocky Flats. then i pulled Nymphos out of my bag for proof and really ... just because it was fun. hahaha MY secret is i don't care about The Secret! blah! blah blah! take that.

it's about vampires, yes. but. if you want a truly good vampire book i recommend Twilight. that's a chaste love story about a vampire and a human girl. it's emotionally touching and really just very enjoyable. the author added some details the the myth of the vampire that i really really loved.

Bleach isn't exactly in it, per se--but it is part of the process. Nevertheless, I like to keep my cleaning products under the sink, away from the food!

I haven't been able to jump on the Secret bandwagon, either. I even have the audio version of it, yet unlistened to... not that I don't think any of it is valid; I just have a ton of books that said the same stuff twenty years ago.

When I was a kid, all I ever wanted to be was a vampire...and a singer. I guess that's why I like Lestat so much, and the rest of Anne Rice's Vampire & Witch chronicles!

x-treme secrets hahaha!

at home i never really played Barbie with the girls, when they were of that age. we played X-TREME Barbie, where we tossed her around and made her leap off furniture and slammed her into elaborate roadblocks in the hallway, while she rode standing straight up inside of a roller skate. ah good times. good times. at least a few you will agree this kind of play is more fun than the simple brush-hair-change-clothes Barbie scenario.

the things i can't seem to get rid of (this month's topic here) are my wedding band and framed photos. mostly the photos with him in it are in the girls' room. i have two others that are elsewhere, this being one. i don't typically wear my wedding band, just to be clear. but. i do keep it around.

i remember one day last year, shortly after i removed it, i was sitting still and thinking. the ring was in my mouth. i had used my teeth to scrape in onto my tongue nice and tight and was clicking it against those same teeth. i liked the sound. then. it slipped off somehow and damn near choked me. i coughed and gagged and it came right back up. i'd love to say i learned a lesson from this and never did that again .. but ... well ... yeah. i still think the sound's still pretty neat, so there ya go.

deady bear
last monday i came into work and left shortly there after after calling home and finding that the family member, that i had left in charge of my very sick child, was as stoned as an old testament sinner. i didn't confront her at the time, my primary objective was really just to get Ashley and get her back home, where she'd be cared for the way she deserves to be. there was fallout to this, however.

what i've learned over time is that you can't reason with unreasonable people. you just can't. it's a waste of time and energy. all you can really do is erect boundaries and maintain them. so, that's what i did. IF you want to spend time with my child and IF you cannot exercise good judgement CHRONICALLY ..then... your visits, if you ever get any at all, will be supervised. period.

the person in question questioned me on this saturday which sent me spiraling into a crummy mood. i feel like i have the very same conversations all the freaking time with these nuts. i'm pretty done with it all, i have to say. honestly. sunday, know what i did? nothing. i read books and played board games and took pictures of our dog. i didn't go to the crisis pregnancy center to volunteer and we didn't have a picnic, which is our sunday thing. while i'm confessing i'll just also say we didn't go to church either. so there.

i let a difficult and useless series of conversations(yeah because it wasn't singular) pollute my weekend--- my much anticipated oasis of time with my children. NO MORE. i'm done

not everything in my life is complicated. not everything hurts to think about. not everything is bittersweet. i daydream. it's free. it's not entirely wholesome, which is perhaps the very best part. not every scene in my head features chaste hand holding or dancing in a crowd with a man who only wants to twirl me about and listen to me laugh. not every scene, but some. which i think is perfectly lovely.

i only had on battle with them - lupines - and really wasnt too big a deal - i just washed them away with water - often - and they never came back

I didn't have a prom -- we had a grad night. It turned into a drunk-up for a bunch of us guys. We grabbed a car (before getting drunked up -- thank god). We hung the back-seatbelts out the back window. Then some lucky schmuck got to hang onto the seat belts, sprawled out on the trunk of the car. When you reached a certain speed, you body was lifted off the trunk. The seat belts kept you attached and tethered to the car.

It was called space-walking. Reading that scares the sh$t outta me in a retroactive kind of way! I was King Space-Walker.

an evening wedding
Saturday night the girls and i attended a wedding. my best friend in high school-- and almost the only person i ever bothered keeping in touch with, finally and at last found her heart's love she held it in the evening in her own backyard and omg it was gorgeous. they must have spent a fortune in landscaping! haha

okay. so. it was outside in the dark and folks didn't really begin to see who was there until we were on the lit patio. i heard this lady squeal my name real excited and watched her run over to my table, which was also outside. she said I HEARD YOU WERE HERE AND RAN STRAIGHT OVER. i laughed with her because she was just so cute and then i asked how she knew where i was sitting? she laughed harder and said "easy! i just looked for the biggest group of kids!"

then i had to laugh too because sure enough, i was one of two adults at a table with 8 kids.
hahahaha. maybe i've always been this way?
