hello hello. meet glory:
poor glory has been defining herself on flickr conversationally since april of last year. without a camera. (poor me!) however ---and gents and dolls, this is a mighty great *however* --- a camera is almost within reach. we're talking two weeks tops, here.

YAY for that. YAY a HUNDRED MILLION TIMES. i am so freaking excited. wee!

so. it's a great time to begin a journal. this way i get to chronical my anticipation from the very beginning to its delightful finish -- complete with what i hope will be awe-inspiring digital images. i dearly love inspiring myself and i look so very cute with my jaw dropped open and my eyes all sparkling and everything. wait and see! xoxo

SSB with a sexy new icon, never too late for this party - get under the table with jallen, and ask Buns to stop flashing - you are the only one who has any influence over him.

And I wanted to ask Bella, way back up there somewhere (this thing moves so fast (and pictureless btw teacher), what was the other half reason?

my mom and ashley
this is my mother w/ ashley. you cannot tell it here but her skin is quite quite dark --she's as brown as a nut. when brooke was about 6 she was convinced her grandmother was asian. haha

mama and i have made an attempt to reconcile further. we spent sunday afternoon over there. i mowed her yard. my sister was packing to move out-- which for sure was some kind of miracle and it was just one of those rare dramaless afternoons. hooray

daddy & donna
these came in the mail. daddy and my new bonus mother, donna-- who i like very much. the girls have a framed picture in their room of them too. speaking of which ... they don't want to share a room any more. i cannot afford a three bedroom place-- ha no. so. i'm considering moving onto the sofa ad infinitum and just letting brooke have my room.

they've stopped getting along. maybe because school's *just* about to start again or maybe just because siblings fluxuate between being sweet blessed angels to each other and being carniverous dna hungry demonchildren. i dunno

showercam. haha. okay moving on:

susan was steamed at work. she'd called me to the carpet for losing an original document. it wasn't an *important* document, but i did lose it and it was our only copy. well. she had really worked herself up into a fit and was just going on and on and on and freaking on

quite suddenly

her tooth fell out of her mouth. boom. just like that. i thought she'd spit out her gum and i tilted my head a bit, like you do when you've seen something you can't quite believe. but she knew what had happened and slapped her hands over her mouth. it was her FRONT tooth

wanna know how i felt?

i felt righteous. i made a mistake and i was owning it. the dictionary defines righteous as "Morally upright; without guilt or sin" and i tell you when her tooth FELL OUT OF HER MOUTH i just felt ... like something was telling her to shut her mouth and move on. silly, yeah?
drab chicken [deleted] Posted 11 years ago. Edited by drab chicken (member) 11 years ago
heather and i held down the fort at the office all day. susan spent the day at home, recovering from oral surgery. on top of having her tooth recapped she had a triple root canal. ouch. she's really fun to talk to when she's medicated. she called in about 30 times just to check on us ---she never uses sick days and so i suppose she was experiencing some kind of seperation anxiety from the office. haha so weird

meanwhile, i used the day to catch up on non-telephone things. she likes to hear me on the telephone all day long because i close sales by phone primarily. but. i can easily fall behind on paperwork if i don't find a balance. i used the day as a sort of free day and really got caught up and even ahead-- i prelabeled a huge stack of envelopes and stamped them ---so all i have to do for the rest of the month is write an outgoing address and stuff the envelope. i've saved myself 15 seconds per envelope this way! weeee

once upon a time
ashley laid violent hands on brooke. she put her hands around her neck and squeezed. she's grounded. it's sad too, because her best friend's birthday party is this weekend and now she cannot go. this is the second physically violent thing she's done in less than a week.

met the girls school teachers tonight -- first day is monday. brooke's in 5th grade and her teacher is the cutest tiny little thing. ashley's teacher is little too and young but she also gave me the impression of being a hardcore rule follower which is great.

last year ashley was one of the 'bad girls' in class. this year the trio of schoolyard evil --ashley, arianna, and lexus has been split up and they ALL have different teachers. someone was paying attention and did their job *right*, man --i am SO relieved they are separated

this has nothing to do with anything but the girls have friends named porschia, lexus, and mercedes. no kidding. the school class lists read like a car show. it's hysterical
drab chicken [deleted] 11 years ago
guess what next friday is? THE PREMIERE OF HIGH SCHOOL MUSICAL PART II. YAY! brooke has waited ALL summer for it. she is sooo excited. and you know? so am i. haha. GO WILDCATS
drab chicken [deleted] Posted 11 years ago. Edited by drab chicken (member) 11 years ago
my mother is 50 on monday. we spent most of the weekend visiting with her -- the girls like her pool better than the apartment pool anyway. my sister made the day difficult, of course. long story short, she threw a fit. i don't like fits in front of my kids-- subject *me* to it if you have to but Not In Front of The Kids.

i turned to my mother and warned her we'd leave if she didn't check her girl. andrea then burst out of the house and slammed the door so hard the walls around us shook. then she flipped me a bird as she passed the front window. i'm not normally reactionary, but i reacted to that

i asked the girls to change out of their wet suits and shower, so we could leave within the hour. they said cool and went on. then i went outside and got my sister's attention. i told her she was a brat. more than that i said she was a bitch. i was very cold. it wasn't a joke. it was a judgement. she's never felt judged by me before. it hurt her.

good. maybe the loon will stay off drugs for two days in a row. do you SEE why i supervise those visits?

a little grasshopper got in the house which i thought was so much fun. it let me get right up in its thorax. (ha ew) i felt like LaM taking a nature shot!

[low whisper]
observe the gentle grasshopper outside of its natural habitat. watch the way his antanae twitch and the way his mandibles open and close as he curiously makes his way across the waxy surface of a wal-mart candle

after i had my fun i tried to capture and set it free outside. but. the thing jumped all around and got in my hair, which is unforgivable. for this, he had to die. i let sara the dog eat him

i've taught her to obey EAT IT. haha! it's not a standard command they teach in puppy school. that one was 100% glory right there. she also quiets her barking when i say SHUT IT. i wish i could train people to obey that one. that would rule

i LOVE that. i really hope the girls grow up and remember doing that with me. i think it's so sweet! we actually talk about our days aloud while we're hanging out. it's ...a total Golden Girls moment, i know. but i tell you, it *enriches* my whole day when i can end it like that.

About HSM, I'm pretty sure she's going to have me strapped to the couch next to her. We're going to use one of her plethora of gift certificates today to buy the soundtrack.

I know it wasn't here (hear?), it was on Bella's, and I forgot to comment there, but that was a fascinating snippet about deaf people and Martha's Vineyard. Glory, you can have your diary back.
