Been contemplating about whether or not to start this project for over 3 weeks now - just due to the intensity of having to keep a camera every single day! But then today is the 4th of Jan 07 and funny that I have taken a pic each day this year- so maybe it's a sign ...... here we go 2007 in Pictures!

Lounging by candelight

I can remember much about the day, I do remember coming home after hubby and enjoying that amazing risotto he's made for the two of us! This was taken before dinner, as we were chilling after being in the kitchen (him much longer than me) enjoying the moment of silence and knowing that tomorrow the household will be filled with another!

A busy Friday trying to get ready for a the weekend trip to the Midlands for a family wedding! Yes mum arrives with lots of surprises including involvement with extended family who we usually keep good distance from!

As we left late on Friday evening, I realised I left the camera battery at home on the charger, hubby was not pleased to have to turn back - but knowing how important it is to me he did- and i was so pleased coz look at this sky we saw as we drove off again ;-)

Tradition

So here we are dressed in Indian garb for the second time this year! Ok this is the day before the wedding, premarital prayer...we standing outside waiting to be welcomed by the brides mum (yes we are from her side of the fam)!

I liked the bright blue in their clothing here! The day ended early- with mum meeting tons of old friends and fam she hadnt seen in a while, Me having to listen to 'the last time i saw you - you were so small, Hubby smiling by my side!

The evening ended with dinner at an indian resturaunt catching up with the bride and other cousins from Texas that were in town!

Tradition

The wedding was only late afternoon, so we had a lie in, in our hotel with a beautiful view - lol! Followed by a large English breakfast- the Indian food and crowds of people were getting a bit much! Took our time to get ready and headed off to the wedding!

Here we are waiting outside to welcome the groom! He arrived in splendour, a man playing the drums (wish I knew what it was called) and the priest holding his prayer tray!

first meeting

A tiring day at work, after a busy weekend- I got home with a smile knowing that dinner would be ready- what a treat!

Hubby had some plans with mates for drinks - i dont blame the poor guy after enduring a weekend at a wedding! My girlfriend was so excited to come over to meet my mum- so here they are my mum and netty! meeting for the first time and they hit off well!

ok so i may not have mentioned that in between the wedding trip Hubby and I found time to eat itallian, and drink a bottle of wine - to keep sane of course- and in between we went out shopping to a local mall- this candle one of the new acquisitions, yes i am a lavender fan!

pink and blue

We were hanging out in the kitchen after work- obviously heating up yum meals prepared by mum- and i looked up through the window and loved the pink and blue stripes in the clouds- so this is my pic of the day!

Gee, turn my back for 45 minutes, and suddenly lots of photographs. First the tokoloshe's. Loved that bleak motorway sky, and especially the beautiful blue sari's (reminds me of growing up in Maritzburg, surrounded by beautiful Indian ladies in Sari's, the spicy smells of the shops). Have you got a picture of you in your traditional outfit? I'd love to see it. (Heading of to your stream to check).

wine + dine

So today will be my last day at the office until i go on leave! I had two meetings back to back- then a team of designers (from an external company) come in to be briefed by me for another two hours and then I left- do i say where....hold your breath....

Champagne lunch at the Mandarin Oriental hotel in Knightsbridge- followed by an afternoon of sheer bliss called Soothing ritual- which includes an all body salt and oil scrub, balinese massage and intensive facial. I stepped out feeling like a new women!

We got home and decided to treat mum for a dinner at the river side- so here we are, me relaxed from the treatment, them hopefully from the wine, enjoying the summer sunshine and river side views ;-) my vac begins!
Jissy 11 years ago
Rob- did u grow up in Maritzburg? lol! that explains the food fascination! sorry no pics of me in indian gear today- i have a few taken by hubby, but on home computer not star bucks laptop- i'll upload one next week- but must admit a bit shy to do so - but how can i refuse a request?

ALICE'S

Mum and I spent Saturday in Portabello Market in Notting Hill! It was amazing, I fell in love with the antiques, food and even clothes. The place was crawling with people and people with expensive cameras, it was like a flickr whore's dream destination- I struggled to take pics I wanted to due to the large crowds in my way! However, getting there early still gave me a better opportunity than later in the afternoon!

I struggled to select todays pic of the day- here is the set of the market place ...if u interested!
By the end I just wanted to leave there were too many people it was way too hot and home was calling my name ;-)

I really struggled selecting a picture of the day today

Regent street

Regent street on a Monday! Beats sitting at the office on a Monday- mum needed to pick up a few things in the city so we walked from Lilly Whites to Oxford street and then Covent garden...too many good pics, too little time to share

So now i'm updated here (on my side) and upon my return need to update myself on all your diaries...off to the post office, home to pack and on my way to vac...people at star bucks are looking at me weird....crazy women typing fast...my wrists are hurting!

Take care all of you....hugs xoxo kisses ;-)
Simon-K 11 years ago
oh god - portabello market!!!! I have memories of being dragged around the antiques market all the time when I was a kid, and always so early (we're talking 5am) but even then it was always busy, so I can understand why you wanted to get out of there!!

Queen's view

This was so hard...to pick a pic for today...to give you an idea all of these from my Scotland set are from this day! Today I woke up in a beautiful Guest house and made our way to Inverness after spending the night to Fife. Along the way we stopped at Beatrix Potter garden _ a rather embaressing story which can also be found in the same set, and at this magnificent place called Queens View- how approrpriate a title? indeed fit for a queen!

I remember feeling so liberated from the mundane of everday, and just enjoying the fresh air, beauty view and company of my Hubby and Mum!

Fill up station

After a day at Stirling Castle - in the rain- we headed off to find a nice pub to warm up, wait out the rain and wait for check in time! We found this amazing pub called fill-up station and it was decorated with all sorts of antique/retro fill-up station signs!

This would be our last night in Scotland, we head off back tomorrow. After checking into our rooms we found an amazing Indian resturant to dine in, the food was great, the atmosphere cozy, the service excellent and the wine even better!

Hip hip hooray for the sunshine we had in London today! It was perfect weather for our girly day to Hampton Court! Mum, my g-friend Netty and I spent our day strolling through the palace, followed by gardens and even getting lost through a maze! I'll be loading pics into this Hampton Court Set when I have some time.

We had a really good time and ended the outing with a nice meal - seated outside off course.

Farewell tea treats

This is Sunday and Mum leaves tomorrow. We agree to spend our last day together at home (way to much activity since her arrival). So out we go into town to pick up a few DVD's and some last minute groceries. However, we did make a detour at the Maison Blanc on the High street, to treat ourselves to some of this (what you see here) and this (what you don’t).

I must admit we were both trying not to show how emotional we were feeling about our parting! So we watched our DVD's, ate our yummy treats and chatted.

This had to be a day to remember and not in the good sense. At 03:00 am my mobile rang and it was the cab driver who was meant to pick up my mum at 15:00 to take her to the airport. Needless to say he returned. An hour later I woke up in excruciating pain!

All my back and neck muscles had gone into spasm during the night, and I could barely move. I walked over to the medicine cabinet (yup this has happened before so I have all that was needed to treat it fully stocked) so mum who couldn’t sleep much heard me and came to help me!

She rubbed my back, helped me relax and got me back into bed. Hours later I woke up with ltd mobility and went out to find some help – on Bank Holiday. All that was open was an alternative healing place called HSP (Health Smile Peace). So they do Energy Healing but also run a Yoga /well being centre.

Here’s the thing, Ive been told by a few who have massaged me recently that I needed to start doing something to sort out my bad back, Yoga was one of the recommendations. So I decided to go in and sign up for lessons- the Korean lady behind the counter offered to help me with a healing session later that day.

So we got home, had some lunch had a teary goodbye with mum and finally as I was left all by my lonesome self with ltd mobility, I walked over to my healing session.

Hmm this was interesting, it turned out I have some energy blockage, something about my fire energy being stuck…ok so I’m not yet a total believer but hey lets give this a go…I got home this evening, with my text book from HSP, and just to be sure also used Deep Heat patches and some muscle relaxants (just to be safe) and cover all my bases!

So this morning the back felt much better and being all brave I went into the office ready to start a short week back at work!

An hour after being there the pain became somewhat unbearable and sitting and typing was not proving to be a helpful, so I left and headed off home! I made myself some toast with sliced boiled egg with cheese and a warm cuppa tea, then jumped into bed with my book and a movie in the background (evita I think) – smug face – pleased that Sky is installed and I have access to the tele in my room again!

I fell off to sleep all afternoon, woke up for dinner and went back to bed…I remember feeling annoyed that I was in this condition and somewhat sorry for myself coz Hubby’s not here and mum is not here 

Oh this pic was taken when I got up for dinner, showing my feet up and resting this back!
RobW_ PRO 11 years ago
Oh dear Jissy, sorry to hear about your bad back, on top of the pain of parting (maybe related?). Persevere with the Yoga, and the alternative healing (reiiki?), acupuncture, and a chiropractor might not be a bad idea.

All to be followed by a short holiday in the Greek islands.

This was taken from the Queen Mary on Embankment- with a view of the city- and off course my camera phone! :-P excuse the quality!

Friday: 09:39

Needless to say, this is me at 09:39 am on Friday morning- recovering from the hang over, lack of sleep and preparing for my first meeting at 10:00 am - aaaah

thank goodness for Paul's LARGE cappuccino and the greasiest pastry to be found!

After work I decided to meet a friend who has moved here from SA for a quick drink- ha - it turned out to be a few jugs of Pimms, Long Island Ice tea, a bottle of wine (over dinner) followed by some cider at a pub! Can you believe I was totally fine after all of that, and poor him was feeling a bit uneasy- guess this pastry helped me more than I thought!

Busy bee

So I am still home alone- so this morning got up and watched tele in bed for about three hours, before dragging myself out around noon- to make a cuppa tea and some brekkies!

Shortly after I jumped in the shower and hopped off to do some shopping- yup holiday shopping- I had a real bad experiend- rather not talk about- at the local stores so headed off to High Street Kensington!

My girlfriend met me shortly after and boy was it productive, total purchases, new casual jacket, new jeans, new cargo type holiday pants and and new sneakers...off course followed by a nice dinner!

She decided to spend the night with me to keep me company, so we watched a strange movie called snakes in planes before heading off to bed!

oh ps- can u believe in all that busy-ness I actually did not take a pic the whole saturday- so I cheated, and used this one from last saturday at hampton court and figured it was also taken on a saturday and she was there- so we all good!

It's finally here...gotta love snail mail

Where do I begin- with the tube strikes since the day before, people are forced to use the overland train to get into the city. So the train I normally use is totally crowded. This morning as per usual, I pick up my coffee and paper and head towards the train, as the doors open in front of me I walk onto the train, only to be pushed by a crowd of people behind me trying to get onto the train.

The coffee was pushed out of my hand, and landed all over my cream blouse, luckily I didnt get burned, but I was drenched in sticky brown coffee aaaggh

On the way to the office I stopped at the first store that was open and bought myself a new top to wear instead of my blouse, got changed and headed off to Day 2 of training...needless to say i was late and the faciitator wanted to punish me by getting me to sing - yeah right dude?!? try some other chump this one is not friendly today....

I realised that one of the other strains on my pack was probably the fancy leather handbag I'd use to work each day, which has space for my laptop and work stuff and another section for personal stuff...is probably not too good for my shoulders, so yeah i called office services and picked up a geeky backpack - i used them for four years- dont know why i thought Id try to be stylish....on my way back from picking up the bag I stopped by the post room ..... and this pic shows what they had for me....

yupeee hooraaryy...my wireless internet - for me to take home and install myself- yup you guessed right I was so tired of waiting for BT decided to go private...and look within days its arrived! Tonight after yoga (third class) I installed it all by myself, and voila...i'm up and running from anywhere in this apartment!

Rob- wahhaaaaa waaahhhhaaaaa- i wish the heritage had instilled a bit more culture in me- esp the selling type...hmm and maybe the overdoing of cooking- but unfortuantely- yes even i needed the training- lol

ps- i like your thinking re- push it right back- *evil laugh* I actually considered it- can u imagine a cramped cart of comuters covered in coffee- well at least i wouldnt have been in it alone! oh and hey- who's doing the pinching? me or ssc?

What can I say before I get to vac pics had to upload this one from the day before we departed! Yes its crap but I promise that I made up for these types of pics with all the ones I took on vac!

If I remember correctly a friend of ours moved into our apartment this evening- we headed off to tapas in our local area with a few other friends i hadnt seen!

Much later that evening i started packing for the trip and remember going to bed around 02:00 am knowing that in a few hours my dear Hubby would be home!
