Everyday with Jissy

Been contemplating about whether or not to start this project for over 3 weeks now - just due to the intensity of having to keep a camera every single day! But then today is the 4th of Jan 07 and funny that I have taken a pic each day this year- so maybe it's a sign ...... here we go 2007 in Pictures!

All Unwrapped

Today I recieved the most amazing gift ever from a dear friend Inga in Finland! Sorry don't mean to brag but really, it has to go down as one of the most thoughtful and perfectly selected gifts I have ever recieved.

In the last year that we have been visiting each other's photostreams it became so apparent that we had so much in common, our love for tea, amazing candles and even the magnets on each others refrigerators...hell even the contents of if!

Click on the pic for notes and more detail of other pics in my stream, if you interested, I'm afraid the poor lighting did her efforts minimal justice!

The words that were coming out of my mouth were endless, i stared in amazement, i thought i was dreaming! aah after this package, does mentioning the earlier part of my day really matter?

In deep conversation

On Friday night I caught up with thw girlfriends, one from SA whom I havent seen since I left the country, we go way back to Post Grad studies, internships, and starting to work at the same company...and my new girlfriend in London, who is from OZ land, and lives around the corner from me yet we havent seen in each other in what could be a month!

I had so much to catch up with both of them on, and they just met for the first time, we completely lost track of time, a quick drink after work turned into an evening of lots of bottles of wine...followed by greasy Burger King!

We laughed, drank, chatted...more like screamed over the loud noise, at Smith of Smithfields (the meat market district) and just had fun being girls ;-)

lol, the 13th is far from being arranged, thats all about hubby leaving his stuff lying around...hmm maybe the zen feel is from my brown corduroy table cloth, seen in both pics he he ;-)

country side pub

We spent the weekend with friends who live in a beautiful home in the country side. They had been inviting us for a long time and somehow we have not gotten around to doing it. It was nice to get away from the hustle bustle of the city and not enjoy the SPACE that a home provides you.

Dont get me wrong i love the city and my apartment but sometimes it's nice to experience the other side even for a day.

When we arrived they allowed us to settle in freshen up and off we went to this warm and cozy (fireplace around us) pub with their pet Pepper, who snuggled under the table. We spent the evening chatting and enjoying warm comfort food hmmm...

A door to the outside

After an amazing breakfast (at such a beautifully laid breakfast table) our friends kept some croissants for Pepper (who is the pic from yesterday) and spicey fruit muffins (coz Pepper's not allowed raisens) for the birds in their feeders around their garden. As soon as we turned our backs Pepper started jumping up to eat their food... we had such a lovely weekend away from the city, reminding us of what it was like to live in a home, and made me miss my family Huskies at home!

Apartment style living makes u forget what living in a home is like, the space, access to outdoors, your own garden... and the ability to share your life with man's best friend ;-)

There is nothing like living in a house. Apartments have their good points, but I miss the privacy of a house.

The first time my now 12 year old nehew came to visit he came out of my bathroom saying "Eeew, I can hear the people upstairs flush".This place has very little sound proofing.

16th- completely love the intensity in which your friend (left) is giving her explanation.. great capture of real life : ))

17th, 18th- having lived in a house only on holidays I think I have an "overidealized" sight of this way of living (I have an inner link between living in a house and being relaxed and happy) but, even though, I'm sure that living in a house I'd miss my neighbours :P:P

In SA space is not a problem so most people have homes (and big ones) and off course the friendly 'rainbow' nation means most people do know their neighbours! You so right the concept of a home does come with an idealised perception of life...sigh

lol lol she is grey, i also thought it was a fun name!

Unwinding

Does too much of a good thing... stand true? if a candle light soak supposed to be a treat... and u start treating yourself every other day... it takes away the whole 'special factor' but introduces the rationale....well u work so hard this is the least u deserve.

Today an uneventful day, with time ticking out for the daily pic even almost considered skipping it for once (oops).

that's a great shot... and your thought is pretty spot on... doing something special on a regular basis CAN take the "specialness" out of it, but then again, if you still appreciate it as if it were the first time then who cares!!

Before the game - Liverpool vs. Barcelona

Wednesday night after work- head off to the pub to watch Hubby;s team (Liverpool) up against his mate's team (Barcelona). The atmosphere at pubs on game days are just amazing!

Also really funny to watch the boys abuse each other's teams with friendly banter. I felt so sorry for poor man next to me, up against seven Spanish Men, trying to defend his team, but alas, his team won, and all seven were quiet!

So many cabs, passing by, queing...

The thing about living ten minutes away from the station, is everyday there is a choice. A choice to wait approx ten mintues for a bus, a choice to just walk, coz u'll be home by then, a choice to take a cab!

With the number of times i spend 5 quid for a cab, i try to not cab it home during the week (unless it's a really late night at the office) and hubby insists on me not walking alone real late!

So it gets really frustrating for me on days i choose to wait for the bus, and all i see are cabs queing up for people to jump in, cabs driving past with the yellow light on, and instead of hailing them to stop, i just wait...for the 156 (my bus number) -sigh i take out my camera and start taking pics, other people that were waiting were looking at me strangely! ;-)

that's entertainment

Friday night a girls night out! The Hubby is hosting Poker at home, so I decide to organise a girl's night out! With no time to spare to book a table, I simply mail the girls and let them know we shall meet at a common pub in Leceister Square. I was so pleasantly surprised coz dear hubby, sent me an email during my busy day at work (his poker night cancelled) but also he thought standing at an arb bar was not a great plan so he booked and paid for a table at another bar for me and the girls and even pre-ordered snacks for us!

at the bottom of the mail he writes, 'yes i know i'm the best husband ever' - how could i argue with that?

The night out was great, too many pics that shouldnt be posted on the net! However, on the way home, we stood and watched this Busker, play his guitar, cheered him on, left him some money and I took a pic of him!

I can relate totally with your story on Feb 22nd, whenever I'm out late and in desperate need of a cab I can see one bus after another passing me by... and now that I think about it, that very same day I was waiting for a bus when lots of free cabs went by, I ended up taking a cab after 30 minutes of wait.

And I see why you can't argue with your hubby, he's great!

I just hope next week you have to comfort him... sorry but football is football.. no friendship in this field.....

wow a 30 min wait, i'd say get into the NEXT cab you see! sometimes i feel bad at my lazyness and jump into a cab at any opportunity...but at times like your story oh so worth it! Lol at the hubby- he does rock!

HA HA HA- I felt awful that he was there with all these Spanish Men (one French) all supporting Barcie of course, he was one against like 9...but boy did he celebrate. So next week his Barcie mate has organised tickets to watch the game live, so if there's any comforting to do, it'll be after a loooong journey home from Liverpool! He 's so excited to watch his team on home ground!
"sorry but football is football.. no friendship in this field"- a common saying in our household...i understand, well sort of!

take it easy, sweet, sometimes is good not being the do-er and just delegating
it's a bit strange at the beginning, but really funny and relaxing after that ;)

**no talk about the match... snif snif snif :__( .. even though congrats to ur hubby! ; )) (now I just hope Liverpool wins the champions league this year.. those fans are worth it!! (still impressed by the ambiance in Anfield))

Aaand.. congrats to you for the incorporation of those grads to help you! It's good to see yourself evolving inside the company.. not feeling anymore like the latest step of the staircase but one step higher.. I've never had to delegate yet so I can't give you any advice apart from transmitting the feeling that you'll do it very well.. challenges help giving the best of oneself! : ))

Is this the reason you were celebrating last Friday? I'm so glad to hear about your promotion, and don't worry, as eelend said, might be a little difficult at the beginning but I'm pretty sure you'll do fine, congrats!

best of luck on your promotion!

I understand about the commute. My trains run hourly after 815p. On those days I get stuck late I almost always just miss my train leaving me to enjoy an hour wait at Penn.

Coming in late here... I think what makes me stick with the journal is that it forces me to look at things differently to find a photo on the uninspired days. To write in a journal... well, not as easy to force you to grow or change your viewpoint as much? Not articulating it quite right, but I think you get the gist. And some days we take a photo of the carpet. I have to go take one now before I fall asleep. Damn, no carpet... hmmmm....

he said the ambience was amazing and at the end of the game fans from opposite teams were exchanging clothing items and singing along to the other teams anthem!

it was a small part of the celebration ;-) thx for the encouragement!

aah hourly intervals must be hard, i'm pretty lucky they leave every 5 -10 mins! that'll teach me not to complain the next time i have to wait 8 mins for one to come along ;-)

i totally get what u saying... hmm quick find any floor ;-)

the plus side of skipping breakfast

Good reasons for skipping breakfast:
1. Saves you time
2. Means you can have a mid morning snack
3. Cheese platter
4. Come on Brie cheese
5. Mature cheese
6. ok a bit of celery
7. followed by Green grapes
8. Come on it's cheese?

Yup today I skipped breakfast (like I do on most days - oops) but it was def worth it ;-)
