Been contemplating about whether or not to start this project for over 3 weeks now - just due to the intensity of having to keep a camera every single day! But then today is the 4th of Jan 07 and funny that I have taken a pic each day this year- so maybe it's a sign ...... here we go 2007 in Pictures!

Hmm - not sure if I can say the same for tonight

Ok here it is the second night was def not as comfy as the first! Complete with green velvet padded headboard which was accompanied by matching green sink, bath (with shower curtain- yuk) and loo!

So after a crazy day of facilitating I made my way to Jersey airport to hop onto a teeney weeney plane called an 'Islander' hmm ok this plane was so small there was no division between passengers and pilot - which means you get a full 360 view in front, on the sides and behind you- and how could I forget also the pilot controls. Now I'm not afraid of flying or heights but darn was I sitting still during that flight! The whole 11 minutes it took from take off to landing- I was so wishing I had taken my camera with me on board- the view was incredible!

So I got to Guernsey and my hotel (as you can see) wasnt the greatest- infact with no internet in the room and not really wanting to dine in, I went down to the bar and resturaunt to dine with my book (Angels and Demons) as company!

Before 08:00 am in Guernsey

An early start to my day in Guernsey- this is just about the only view I had from my stunning hotel balcony. I walked down for breakfast and was greeted by the host who immediately asked me where I was from- now without coffee, and not really wanting to make chit chat, and I dislike being 'boxed' I responded 'does it matter?' He apologised profusely and said that he was from India and just gets excited to see people from his country and was so apologetic- I felt bad and after his second apology I chatted to him and realised that sometimes its not always about me!

My day was pretty rushed, three sessions back to back with a hop across town for the last session- and back to the airport! I landed in London and couldnt get over how brr it was! But hey at least I was going home!

Tea with Deborah

This morning I woke up excited coz we were spending our day with a fellow Flickr friend Saffron . She came over to ours for Brunch (and Jallen Hubby made Tapas) followed by tea (as seen here) at Maison Blanc in Putney (the same place my b-day cake comes from). It was such an awesome day, she has such an incredibly bubbly personality and is just delightful company.

After tea I got my sleepy hubby off the couch and we headed off to dinner at a local italian place with friends- a great way to end the day with some good wine and good pasta and great company!

lol i woudn't have wanted to have been on that tiny tiny plane lol
Simon-K 11 years ago
That second hotel looks like a typical 1970s British B&B complete with the green bathroom!! I didn't realise places like that still existed. Loving the pictures from Maison Blanc - really makes we want an eclair :)
RobW_ PRO 11 years ago
Quite a contrast in bedrooms between those two hotels. You didn't show us the minibar in the second? Pity you didn't have your camera on that small plane flight, that could have been exciting. Sweet tooth, eh?
Jissy 11 years ago
SSC - ditto that!

Simon- if this doesnt make u plan a trip to putney- i dont know what will tee hee

Rob- the mini bar did not exist- thats how bad it was- i did take a pic of the tea selection- nothing to write home about ha ha

Raita in the making

I woke up this sunday wanting to eat traditional dhal, rice, potatoes, beans and raita- and so I cooked for like 3 hours! here is the Raita in the making!

After cooking we shared our meal with some friends at home- and even a quick- ultra quick game of poker just me an the boys- and guess what? I won- ha ha- I beat the boys at their own game!

I vowed to get better at yoga this week- so after class, I got home and it was such a pleasure not to prepare dinner- coz I cooked so much yesterday we just had leftovers- oh i love left overs!

I was trying different angles and lighting to take this pic from my window- unfortuanately when the flash went off, the people who live in the flat behind this sign (not even in my frame) got paranoid and stared giving me the evil eye from their window- dont flatter yourself people! So I decided to put them out of their misery and left it at this one- my best of the lot!

I have a pic for today- just waiting for a friend to mail it to me!

Hmm a mad rush to get out of the office, wanted to do some work at home, couldnt get my mind to it- after lots of convincing hubby and decided to do a night out dancing with my friend in town- hmm that was a challenge.

We ended up at some swanky pretentious place in Kensington where the champagne price started at £1300.00 - later on we moved to the normal section and had a decent night of partying! (even tho i'd like to believe i'm way to old for this) ha ha!

Starts of tame with coffee

A flickr friend had a bad travelling experience today so we invited her over to our friends home, where we ate warm hot dogs, delicious pastries, watched the Rugby and played some poker- it was a perfect day indoors and relaxing! - apart from the 20 mins i spent being stuck outside! ha ha

This is not taken by me!

It was taken by hubby on Sunday- I asked him to take a long exposure, grass in the background pic for me, and this is was one of many!

I figured he had my camera and it was my idea so i could use it!

While he was at the football match, I did some work, cooking, called home and just as he returned we ate, and had an early night in!

So its monday and the Hubby's away - AGAIN- so i did the yoga thing, but I was so incredibly tired and didnt enjoy class at all! got home upated some flickr stuff and had another early night!

keeping warm

i should have stayed in bed today. heres how it went- i had a 09:00 am meeting in canary wharf.

07:55 - leave home
07:58 - i see the bus turn back and walk
08:00 - the bus driver decides to not open the door for me
08:08 - i walk to the station and miss the 08:07 train- aagh
08:12 - the next train comes by but sorry they reduce an 8 cart train to four so its too full to get on
08:22- thats the next train- can you believe it?
08:44 - i arrive at waterloo station and while walking toward the tube, i get pushed, slip on the wet floor, land on my knee - just glad my suit doesnt tear
08:47 - the tube is too full
08:48 - i get the next tube
09:05 - i arrive at canary wharf
09:07- standing in a loooong security/reception que
09:12 - standing in a looong que to get onto the elevator
09:16- finally at the floor the receptionist doesnt talk to me coz she is arranging tea for another meeting at 10:00

I go... 'I'm sorry to rudely interrrupt, but I'm meant to be in a meeting at 9.00 with Ms X- can u tell me what room its in? she looks at me and says Room 12- and turns to the rest and goes ...the nerve of the lady! WHAT DID SHE SAY????? I ignore it...
09:20 - I arrive to the meeting room- and after all of this I am meant to be calm, composed, ready to lead a discussion, sigh!

I leave at 12:00 and naturally got onto the wrong train- heading toward home not the office- i figured my body was telling me I was meant to be home!

i get to the office. i do my work. i have coffee with an old friend. i work some more. i buy groceries. i leave them at yoga reception for hubby to collect. i do yoga. we wash our brains in a river. i feel good. i get home and have dinner and FINALLY I make a cup of tea and am glad to be home

The inside of the Lyric

One of those Fridays that makes you laugh. Looking forward to the theatre all week long, finally Friday evening- we go to a pub for dinner. The burger was average, the wine tasted like vinegar (so we didnt have it) and we enter the theatre after running through the rain:

- only to find its a low low budget show- hmm how can i put it nicely- it was bad- there was no singing- no dancing- no props- no acting- it was bad- we walked out at half time!

Called it a night! At least we tried and tmrw we watch our country play rugby live!

London after countless glasses of bubbly

Ok another ordinary Monday- that left me feeling somewaht upset about having to do work i didnt plan on- but after it was done- I was off to my plush team drins- on a roof top in Trafalgar square with waiters topping up bubbly the whole night- so that makes you lose count on how many glasses or top ups one had.

Special service

The office Christmas party- as per usual they went all out- it started with these privately hired open red busses to escourt us there, followed by snow fall (not the real type) whilst waiting to enter and tons of champagne. The three course dinner was amazing too!

At the end people werent ready to leave so the poor little local pub next to the venue had some 200 people to deal with a few of us moved on to another two pubs till we found one good enough to cater for us i.e not filled to the brim!

I wore the black dress i bought the week before - and I was pleased i hadnt returned it to the store and wore it instead :-)

Today is the last day of the year and naturally the last entry for my diary. This picture was taken after the NY countdown (technically 1 Jan 08) but I liked it coz it looks like a wave goodbye to 2007 and welcome to 2008!

Today I decided to crawl out of hibernation and went shopping, met Hubby for drinks after and chilled at home before getting ready to go out!

We had Turkish dinner at a place called TAS and decided to watch the London fireworks to bring in the new year. However, after dinner we had about 20 minutes to make it to the countdown- by then some 70 000 other people had blocked the route to the fireworks watching. hmm so we ended up getting a view of the Shell Centre- bits of the ends of fireworks - and squashed in a crowd- hmm not ideal but I was with Hubby and my friends and thats what mattered! Rob was obviously smarter and got a better view.

Today is also the day I decided not to continue with my diary next year. It was a tough decision because more than recording my life- I will miss you all. I have decided not to take part next year for a few reasons, the major being the lack of time I have and partly because by October my hobby was starting to feel like a 'daily chore' rather than the challenge I set it ut to be. I'd also like to dedicate the time I used to spend on MDPD to learn more about my Nikon and photography in general. However, my love and passion for the group will live on. I have joined to stop in everynow and then to see how you all doing- and my darling Hubby decided to join 08- so that may give you snippets of what I get up to - and as SSC said- a different perspective ;-)

In the meanwhile, thank you for all you have been to me, for dropping in regularly (or not so regularly), for encouraging me to go on, for the laughs, the tears, the support, the meet-ups and most of all your diaries- a real inspiration in 2007 for me! Good luck with your 2008 project!

Ah, we'll miss you Jissy, but understand the reasons, I marvelled how you managed it last year. Do drop in from time to time, and I'm sure you'll feature occasionally on hubby's diary.

I like your waving goodbye picture for several reasons: it is symbolic, it is one of the very few self-portraits you offered us, and being two days back from London, makes me nostalgic for the Underground (imagine!).

Yeah , we were smart on New Year's eve, as you will see on my entry for that day - we watched it on the telly!

Aww noooooo!! LOL
I understand your decision though... but I'll be sad to see you "go" nevertheless.

Please do stop by, you know we love your views on things and your comments!

Look forward to hearing about you through Lionel's diary!
