BellaGaia: Yay! you're back! thanks, I knew you'd like them, can you believe I did a pilgrimage with them when they were brand new :P And here women wear stockings most of the time -at least when going to work-, except in summer. And I agree with you, this is a great group.

16 * february * Sunshowers

Sunshowers

Sunny day -so we might say it's a pic of the sun up there. In fact it was too sunny I couldn't do the long walk after going to eat at the street market near Lyn's job.

Went to drop a film from our trip to Veracruz, I also asked about getting my camera fixed, it turns out it's really expensive, I might as well buy a new one with that money... if I had it. I also went to get gift wrappings for my cousin's daughter birthday party

At night we went to the movies to see Ghost Rider. Walking home after the movie Lyn made me a proposal: he lends me the money to buy a new camera...

My heart jumped with joy but still don't know if I'll accept, I feel bad for taking that amount of money from his savings

I learned: he cares a lot for me -I already knew that but very often he has this details that just make me say: boy, I'm so glad I met you

17 * february * When the Sun Hits

When the Sun Hits

pic by jubilo

As I already said, Saturday was the monthly Dflickr photo tour. I took my reflex camera and went to meet them. Really a nice bunch of people they are. At the beginning we were twenty-something, when I left we were forty, forty people walking around with their cameras having fun. I talked to some of them I already knew and met some new guys and girls. As you see, the sun was sooooo bright since very early that's why I ended up with a sore -and very red- face and shoulders.

I left early to meet Lyn, we went to get his Valentines gift and to eat seafood. Later we went to my cousin's daughter surprise party. She thought she wasn't going to get a birthday party and was really happy when she saw us there, great food and a superb flan.

I learned: sunblock exists for a reason... everybody at the party thougth I was arriving from a trip to Acapulco :P

I said yes. Yes, let's buy the camera!

At noon we went to a market specialized in cameras and went through several stores, the people there showed me lots of cams but for price/quality this was the winner. Still have to get a hold of how things work with this one but I have a camera again!!

I learned: I have to improve my sleeping habits, look at those bags under my eyes!

Crazy Babies revisited

Tranquil Monday. Didn't do much except for bathing my babies and of course taking pics of them with the new cam. They're always the first thing I shoot with a new cam or a new card in the cam, I took a couple of them before yesterdays pic but this ones came out better, you can even see my girl on the left posing, she's losing her camera shyness :P.

Went to grab some dinner with Lyn and watched tv. Good day it was.

I learned: I haven't lost my charm... I arrive to an empty restaurant/store/stand and it gets loads of people while I'm there :)

20 * february * 14 Years

14 Years

5110 days I've gone through this door -more or less, minus the days I haven't been here and the days I stay in-, 14 years that is.

This is the outside door of my building, it's the same as every other building door in this complex but I don't know why or how, this one is particular to me. I've lived here for 14 years now.

At night we went to the movies to see Combien tu m'aimes?

Oh, and 3 years ago I met Lyn... I just don't remember that :P It's not my fault, the HR lady gave me a tour at my new job and introduced me to lots of people, one of them was Lyn. He says a couple of days later my boss introduced me to him as well, I don't remember that either :S

I do remember six weeks later, the first time I saw him -according to me- and having innapropriate thoughts -I was in a relationship-: who is he? and why I haven't seen him earlier? I like him, he's cute... he's talking to me, augh I look horrible today... *mumbling an answer to his question* oh, here he is again... *grabbing the candy he offered me* he has a lovely smile... oh, he's gone :(

Weird thing, the candy he gave me stood in my bookcase for some months, I liked it having it there because it reminded me of him.

I learned: I understand more french than I thought I did

21 * february * My Electricity

My Electricity

Wednesday night and I'm getting ready to watch tv, what happens next? the lights go out for the next three hours.

Like a chicken during an eclipse, seeing everything dark I start to feel sleepy at 9:00 but decide to fight it back by playing sudoku under the emergency light in the kitchen until it dies, then I decide to play with the camera, testing the long exposure modes. My subject is the mount in front of my window, or more accurately, the antennas on top of it.

Finally I go to my room and light several candles and read a little bit until the electricity is back. I turn on the computer and put some music on, everything is back to normal

I learned: my mom lived as a child in a house with no electricity

22 * february * Thank you

Thank you

Most of the days I write here about my days, sometimes I write about the highlights, today is one of those days.

I always enjoy reading all your comments, but my absolute highlight for this day was 9T6DPI's comment, after reading it I ran to tell my parents and later I told Lyn and for the rest of the day had a big smile in my face because it's very moving when you see generosity like his.

I really appreciate his offer and don't feel I can thank him enough for it so I use this post as another way to do it, thank you! :D

I learned: there are bad things going on around the world but there are lots of people who really care about their peers and that's why it's worth living here :)

23 * february * Shinny Happy People

Shinny Happy People

I went to have my haircut at my cousin's house, there were her two kids, the girl who just turned 10 years old and her brother who turned 2 a few months ago.

He is one of the happiest people I know and since I can remember he's always smiling. I met him when he was a few days old, he was sleeping and smiling, then when he was 4 months old I saw him at another cousins birthday, when I held him he opened his sleepy eyes a little bit and smiled at me.

He wanted to go to bed and was about to cry so I asked him if he wanted me to take his pic -his mom was finishing my mom's haircut-, he said yes so we went to the couch. I pointed the camera at him and there it was, his big lovely smile :D

I learned: light is really important for taking pics, duh! I already knew that but this pic is the living proof, crappy light = crappy quality :(

The Art of a Soft Landing

Relaxed Saturday, it's Flag's Day but no good flag in sight to use it as today's shot. Naps and movies are a good way to spend the afternoon.

Funny thing, the taxi driver remember he drove me last month, he remember I ran to caught the cab since there was another woman waiting too. In my defense I should say I waited for 20 mins and she was just going out of her house :P

Very cool -- congrats.

And I really like your photo from the 26th. The lines slice up the sky into little canvases of color.

Jissy: thank you! about the coffee situation, I can totally understand you, although now that I think about it, I think that coffee was extremely strong

wow on the 25th! wooow on the 26th!! (talking about colourful skies ;)) and wow again on the 27th! ; ) well.. what to say.. now that you're famous I hope you'll keep your feet in the ground and part of your head on us :P:P And oh.. one thing I wanted to say a few days ago but I always forget.. I find it wonderful how you can give an abstract of one day just by adding the line "today I learned that..".. it's so good to make this self analysis and discover what the day has brought : )) lol on the coffee thing (luckily I haven't discovered this lesson yet :P)

Thank you! and you know my head and my heart will always be with you! now, maybe you have to worry a little bit about my right hand having its head going to the clouds since that's the most famous part of me right now :P

I'm glad you like the "I learned" part, as you say, is a very good way to see what the day was about

And I hope you don't learn the lesson of the coffee any time soon ;)

28 * february * Backlit

Backlit

It wasn't really a busy day but I don't know why at the end of it I feel very tired.

Sure, the lines at the supermarket were loooong but that's not it... maybe it's the warm -oh, so warm!- weather.

All in all, it was a good day, and I think I have nice plans for saturday :)

I learned: I'm still far from the point I thought I was today

love that shot, it's wonderful!!!

mmmm so you are far from the point you thought you were...
don't worry about that
it always happens this way
one day you think you have everything under control and the other day the world seems to be the biggest chaos you've ever seen
well, okay, that's good
let's enjoy it :)

Fame! and Backlit...Both great...Fame because well - you are a part of something very wonderful. Backlit - When you are happy it really shows up in your photos. The BW and contrast there are very nice indeed. Subject material very tastefully done. Big Bravo !

01 * march * If Loneliness was all...

If Loneliness was all...

I got up early, got breakfast with my parents and went to drop a CV at a newspaper, my mom was my companion. We walked a few blocks under the blazing sun to take the bus back home. We were crossing a little park when I saw this cute thing.

He was there, seeking shelter from the sun but there was something about him; he looked so lonely but very self sufficient at the same time. Still I wish I could have done something for him.

Then went to the bank and to the market and my mom bought me a suit as a birthday gift -the second birthday gift I get early.

Lyn came after work and we rented Spiderman.

I learned: I need to listen to the little voice more often.
