Nightvision

I took this shot after Lyn took his taxi back home. This is my street at night... can this be called a street even if cars don't drive through? 'cause the space you see at the left is actually the parking space for my building and the one in front.

Wednesday was quiet and uneventful. Lyn came and we watched The Butterfly Effect 2, I liked the first one better but no matter how bad the movie is, is always nice to sit in the couch and watch movies with him.

I learned: to be a little more patient

08 * february * Bittersweet

Bittersweet

I went to drop a CV at noon and after that I called Lyn to know the hour to pick him at work to grab a bite, that phone call left me feeling kinda bad but first the background.

Last year, one day I went to my old job -where Lyn still works- to pick a payment they owed me, while I was waiting outside I saw a couple of girls around the corner, I got this huuuuge bad vibe from one of them, at that time I didn't knew that girl was the one Lyn described earlier as "the new girl that's 'extremely' nice" -meaning that she was always hugging and kissing and leaning on any men's arms.

A couple of months later two of my ex co-workers married in one of the patios of the company, I was a guest. This girl looked at me in a weird malicious way and made me feel uncomfortable. To cut things, I began to feel a little jealous, I even thought one day: hope she finds a better job and quits this one.

A month later Lyn's boss invited some employees to a soccer game, Lyn brought me along. While waiting for everybody to get in the cars this girl told me some very rude and nasty things but after a couple of hours around her I realized that there was nothing to worry about and moved on.

In today's phone call, Lyn told me they fired some people including this girl. When he said her name I felt really guilty, like it was my fault she lost her job.

While waiting for him, that girl's best friend walked out and I could hear her talking to the security guard at the door: it's her fault because she didn't respect any orders and used to hang around everywhere but her desk -she said.

In the pic: The sweet part of the day: the sushi we ate while talking and having a great time. Later we went to see The Pursuit of Happyness which made me feel a little sad, I guess the mood I was in didn't help.

I learned: it's hard to get rid of the guilt
ReeBeckiSupergirl PRO 11 years ago
I love the sushi photo!

It is hard to get rid of the guilt but sounds as if you were only wishing that the girl got what she deserved even though we all wish that everyone was nice and only had nice things happen to them.

Forget about it...you only have control of your own actions. Now - how about some sushi? Street shot has interesting colors under the lights.

Satrina... girls like this give girls a bad name. Which would be why girls like you and me have a hard time trusting girls sometimes...? Possibly.

PS- love the lighting in the sushi shot!

wow! this sushi looks truly yummy : )) on the guilty feeling story.. it certainly wasn't your fault.. neither her being fired nor you being jealous which, btw, it's a kind of natural reaction (even those who love saying we aren't jealous, fall into it sometimes -feeling even worse than the regular "I accept I can be reasonably jealous" people-....). The good point is seeing it come and turning a potential *problem* (more in a couple) into nothing else than a few days of bad sleep :P

ooh.. btw.. one day left!! ; ))

ReeBeckiSupergirl: Thanks! that's what I've been thinking, it was only
her actions that put her in that situation, I'm better now :)

CollardGreens: I know it's not my fault because I didn't make her act like that but still felt a little guilty, I felt a little better after hearing her friend saying that lots of people warned her about her behaviour

Erica: Could you believe that in front of me she referred to Lyn as "the meat in the grill" followed by an "and I'm going to eat some steaks!"? Now it makes me laugh but in that moment she made me angry. I guess this only makes us chose better who to accept as a close friend

Oscar: Thanks! it was good. And you hit the nail 'cause I've never been the jealous type so it was really hard for me to admit those feelings but as you said, we worked that out... And I'm getting ready, I already have a couple ideas :)

Morningrise

Friday's dawn found me up, went to bed after taking this pic. I miss great views sleeping late but oh well...

At night we went to the supermarket to buy some things and for a walk at the mall that's near Lyn's job. I saw a coat, a suit and a dress I like... I need a summery dress and the last one we saw is really nice.

What I REALLY need is a job... but I won't settle for just any thing that crosses my way.

Last night had a talk with my brother via MSN, he was way too pushy about my unemployed situation... he started to criticize me for taking a trip now and then even without a job, he played the "you're not getting any younger" card but when he complained that I have a better Internet service than him it was time to say: well, it's been really nice talking to you but I have things to do :)

I learned: that my English knowledge is better than my brother's :P

ParaScubaSailor: One of the sayings I use a lot is "Every day you learn something new" and as you say, normally we don't pay enough attention to what we learn, that's why I decided to add this here

Frère Jacques: :D The guilt is fading after much pondering about her actions, I remembered that a few months ago she was fired and cried all over the place and even went to the owner of the company to beg for her job: I really need it, I'll change... guess she didn't change

CollardGreens: Morning is the best time of the day for me... to be sleeping :P That's why I enjoyed that sunrise so much because I don't get to see them often

10 * february * On Saturn Days we Use to Sleep

Saturday is one of the best days of the week 'cause it's the day we spend more time together, we talk and watch tv and sleep and cuddle and all this cheesy things you do whit your loved one :D

We started dating a saturday and almost every saturday since then we've been together... but wait, all this time you've heard me speaking of Lyn, we did this, we went there, he gave me flowers... and not one single day you've seen a pic of him, right?

He could as well be a figment of my imagination -like that movie of a woman who was so lonely that invented a baby...- but no, he's very real and he's also very camera-shy that's why so far you don't know him.

But that is about to change right now, ready?

Here you have Lyn's... hand!! holding mine while watching tv :)

On Saturn Days we Use to Sleep

The pic is so blurry because he, jokingly, couldn't stand still.

I learned: that things don't always turn out the way I expected but can be better in its own way.

Yes, I LIKE the bit of blur...

Satrina, I can't believe that woman with the whole "steak" comment. I just don't get some women. Hell, I just don't get some people. The only way that would work is if you were friends and she was truly kidding. I don't think this person was...

And Lyn, well this is just the beginning. Pretty soon he'll be coming out into the room naked with nothing but his slippers saying "you should photograph this!" (Uhhh... not that Phillip's ever done that or anything. *whistles innocently*)

Brighter than the Sun

Monday presented a weather change from the past days. We were having grey days with a little bit of rain -like saturday- or very cold wind -like sunday- and suddenly this new week begins with tons of sun.

Grabbed my iPod and my sunglasses and went to the mall to buy food and supplies for my swimming babies. Came back through a different route and took some pics while walking the last few blocks to my house... even with the very bright sun it was nice to walk around and get some fresh air -nevermind all the cleaning duties I should do.

I learned: that there is always going to be people that don't like you just because and it's fine

Agree w/ Loca. I learned that lesson recently as well. Once I came to accept the fact that you can't make everyone like you, I think it makes life more enjoyable because you're not always trying to make every single person around you happy. Of course I still slip sometimes, but I'm learning...

13 * february * Remember

Remember

If my grandpa was alive he would have turned 94 years old today. In his youth he was a little careless about the family but he fought alcoholism and won. Needless to say, everybody's life improved with that.

He used to play baseball and was going to be transferred to the USA to play for a team but thought it would be difficult for his wife and little daughter -my mom- to adjust and gave up on that.

He considered me as his youngest daughter and just between us, I was his favorite female grandchild. Curious thing, my mom was his favorite daughter, my dad was his favorite son in law and my brother was his favorite male grandchild, I guess it had to do with the fact that we respected him in ways the other ones didn't.

In the pic: my grandpa at my mom's wedding day and a card from the deck he loved to play with.

I learned: to communicate my plans if I don't want to be left out of something :P

Devilred

This is my self-portrait for this day, as agreed with overge and Jissy, it's not the best but I was in a hurry getting ready to go pick up Lyn. We had a nice relaxed night, we went to a tiny coffee shop with a very nice owner -he gave us free cookies-, the place was empty for the most of our time there so we talked and talked, it's funny how sometimes we do it like if it was a first date when you're just getting to know the person.

Later we went back to his place to spend the rest of the night in.

In the pic: test shot in a hurry while adjusting my shoe straps, I forgot when you loose weight even your feet get thinner, the shot is blurry and I don't really like it... I didn't know then tragedy was about to strike

15 * february * Two for Tragedy

Two for Tragedy

Remember that in my previous post I talked about tragedy, well here it is:

After I took the pic of my previous post I re-adjusted the camera to a different frame/angle. The next shot was the last... my camera fell from a not really significant height and smashed the lens.

Since I was kinda running late, I left it on my bed and tried not to think too much about the whole thing for the rest of the night but when I got home -after 3 am- she was there, waiting for me, looking all sad.

Best idea I had? get the screwdrivers and open the silly cam, things worked out not that bad, I fixed the skewing of the lens but still doesn't go in or out so the camera is sleeping the dream of the righteous -I think.

A month and a half after the beginning of this project and I find myself without a cam... and just a couple of days before the Dflickr photo tour -great GREAT timing

I learned: that the little spring that moves the little pieces that cover the lens can provide hours of fun

I loved the story of your grandfather. In the pic. he seems like he was a man with a lot of strength.

ooh.. bad to hear bout your "camera problems".. and all because of the selfie.. *shy sorry*.. I hope you find a good solution to that tragedy (btw.. draw + scan could be a goooood idea ; )) well.. I'm sure we'll see something different from black soon : ))

We have to now look on a bright side...It is an excellent time to shop for that new digital SLR !!
Loca.... 11 years ago
Hope you'll get a camera soon.

I agree with - use this as an opportunity! This is one thing I learned from my crappy course - Event+Response=Outcome. Sounds like a basic concept, and it is... but is a reminder that it's all about how we deal with a situation. So go shopping! LOL

Sorry to hear about your tragedy, though, that's tough. *hug*

Hey, do you have a cell phone? Possibilities there if you have a phonecam...

Lightning strike! Satrina send me your address through email. I have a camera for you. A nikon pronea, it uses asp films format. Not the best but not bad and you can keep it. It's in mint condition.

If I get your address tonight I'll post it tomorrow morning ;-)

Nooooooooooooooooooo!!!!
I sooo know how you feel!!! It happened to me on day 5 of the diary, remember???
It sucks to be without a camera! How it's not too expensive to get it fixed!!

Didier: thanks! and yes, he was a very strong man

Oscar: don't feel bad, it was because of a lousy tripod I have *evil glare at the tripod* and draw + scan would have been better than big black square :P

CollardGreens: I'm dying to get a DSLR but not these days... but once I get a job saving for one is in my to-do list :D

Loca: thanks! :)

Erica: that event+response=outcome sounds like something to keep in mind for sure and I do have a phonecam but lost the cable to download the pics :P silly me...

9T6DPI: :D :D :D Thank you very much!

sunshinecity: the whole time I've been thinking of you saying: now I know how she felt :)

mbauhs: yep, I have to get one preferably and unbreakable one :)

'stee: thanks! only one more plain color square and I'll post another pic

Iramiro520: thanks! I keep turning it on to see if things are better now :P still the same

I like the suggestion: Draw, scan, post - I'm sure its in the rules to be ok !! Good luck recovering your photo gadget...
CollardGreens: Oops!
satrina* 11 years ago
Thanks! I like that suggestion so much that even with a camera I have to try it here
~magpie~ PRO 11 years ago
I like it too. And then go out to buy a cord for your camera phone, and *poof* a magical in-the-meantime fix!

Finally! I'm back -- love the self portraits and YES, YES, YES, you got shoe pix!!!! hot shoes miss satrina!

also, you're wearing stockings -- seems like everybody has bare legs here -- I just threw away a draw full of stockings in my clean up -- except my fishnets ;-) and a couple pairs of tights.

9T6DPI -- what a beautiful thing for you to do. what a great group this is.

So sorry to hear about your camera. It's very very sad.

Oh, BTW. I used a pronea on a trip to India and Burma. I think it does a wonderful job! APS film is cheap in bulk on ebay, but expensive to process.
